- balibones, on 10/08/2008, -1/+50EliteXC gives MMA a bad name. Athletes and fans should both boycott the entire organization.
- lostaznguy, on 10/08/2008, -3/+44On a serious note.. Kimbo got Knocked the F*CK OUT!!
- Oddish, on 10/08/2008, -4/+32Who watches EliteXC? You should be ashamed of yourselves.
- DruTheFu, on 10/08/2008, -3/+30Kimbo = Overrated (and not an MMA'er). End of story! Let's move along now, nothing to see here...
- YouRookies, on 10/08/2008, -1/+26Kimbo was a bad image for MMA anyways. MMA is not wild street fighting from the ghetto, thanks for taking MMA back 5 years EliteXC. MMA has discipline and you can see that when you watch real martial artists like Fedor, Anderson, GSP, and BJ Penn. In 10-20 years, all the street thugs will be weeded out.
- paulieslim, on 10/08/2008, -2/+26You think this is fake?
What's that, is that fake? Huh? What the hell's wrong with you? That's an open-handed slap, huh? You think it's fake, you --
Huh, what do you mean? Fake. What the hell is the matter with you? - GibsonSG91, on 10/08/2008, -0/+21http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5ZxpbtcC8A
2:30 for the intro's
4:20 the fight begins
4:28 knockout!
6:12 slow motion replay - Cassanova, on 10/08/2008, -0/+20Kimbo was definitely an underdog in this fight. Sure that knockout was kinda weak but Seth is a Karate champ and has a good MMA record and has even went toe to toe with giants like Bob "The Beast" Sapp in K-1. The dude can fight. Kimbo is still a new guy. He has a lot to learn but at least his fights are exciting to watch. I would rather watch an exciting fight with a guy who is not as skilled over a very skilled fighter who is not exciting to watch (Machida is the first to come to mind but there are also all the lay and pray wrestlers I don't like watching). I don't get how people can be so critical of Kimbo when he has been nothing but respectful to everyone including all his opponents. He trains with one of the all time greats and he works hard. Give the guy a break.
- pennvneff, on 10/08/2008, -4/+19Considering Seth's background and strength is striking this really isn't a surprise, I mean it's the main reason why he was chosen to replace Shamrock. They thought he was just another can to put in front of Kimbo Slice and he is but Kimbo is the biggest fraud in MMA.
Can't really fault EliteXC for doing something that Boxing promoters and Pride Fighting Championships have been doing for years. Pride was notorious for works but stopped doing those to get some respectability in favor of total mismatches. Fedor, Shogun, Nogueria, and Cro Cop were fed some horrible horrible opponents to pad their records. - cle2105, on 10/08/2008, -2/+16WWF part deux..lame
- bieber, on 10/08/2008, -1/+14You're confusing normal people fighting with people who know what they're doing fighting. The punch may not have looked that bad, but looks can be extremely deceiving: I know a guy who's left me rib cage aching for days with punches that _looked_ totally nonchalant, but hurt like a son of a bitch. Technique and placement count for A LOT more than raw power.
- egnaro1, on 10/08/2008, -1/+14I bet Seth Petruzelli would disagree.........
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -0/+13Glass Joe would have put up a better fight.
- awt88, on 10/08/2008, -0/+12I like how the announcers calls this "the most incredible victory in the history of mixed martial arts". Now thats movie funny right there.
- DentThat, on 10/08/2008, -2/+14pride was bought out by UFC dumass
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -1/+11Give Kimbo one more chance, and put him against Brock Lesnar.
One more knockout and send him back to the streets. - lanzemurdok, on 10/08/2008, -4/+14i kept watching the fight over and over. It's hard to specifically point out any of his punches that really did daze him. he just kinda falls. Awkwardly. It doesn't make sense.
- HeyArnold, on 10/08/2008, -1/+11So, its like WWE?
- chadsterrr, on 10/08/2008, -0/+10And you still managed to overcome your confusion enough to click on a digg story you knew nothing about, AND post a comment
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -6/+16i like the part where he got punched out
- Riocoool, on 10/08/2008, -1/+10Kimbo is street fighter, and a highly overrated MMA fighter, with a glass jaw.
- curiousgrge, on 10/08/2008, -0/+9At least Kimbo can always go back to moneytalks.com.
- skipdog172, on 10/08/2008, -1/+10Kimbo's ground skills are lawlzzz
- YouRookies, on 10/08/2008, -0/+9The hardest punches are the ones you aren't expecting. Sure, it looks weak but see if you can take one while your programming at night.
- dignation, on 10/08/2008, -0/+8Yup, John Stossel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrX9Ca7LSyQ
- jemka, on 10/08/2008, -0/+8Kimbo leaned head first into a jab. I'm not a Kimbo fan, but lets be honest here, he beat himself.
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -0/+7conspiracy!!!! there was NO yacht in the background....of course it was not fair!!!
- dha07030, on 10/08/2008, -1/+8Rematch!
- nesej, on 10/08/2008, -0/+7It looked to me like it was a combination of Kimbo falling forward from a missed punch + the force of petruzelli's punch.
- SDeluxe, on 10/08/2008, -0/+7BURIED AS ACCURATE
Seth has already come out and said THIS WAS NOT THE CASE and his whole statement was taken out of context. He was merely offered a 10000 dollar knockout bonus, which is why he suggested that "he was advised to stand"
Seth quote and source () http://sherdog.com/news/news/petruzelli-fights-con ...
"I didn’t even think I was saying it that way when I said it,” said Petruzelli. “It was me basically just saying I wanted to have a standup fight, then they offered a knockout bonus to do it, so I took it. I’m sorry that I created this controversy. I didn’t mean to do it at all." - jemka, on 10/08/2008, -1/+8World Wildlife Fund?
- Tocc, on 10/08/2008, -0/+7I would have said the worst fight.
- Cassanova, on 10/08/2008, -0/+6It was a fluke punch. It wasn't lucky that it hit, it was lucky that it knocked him down. It probably hit him on his chin right in the sweet spot as he was coming in for a punch. It was almost like he head-butted his fist. Getting punched in the forehead and right on the chin are too entirely different things. I mean look at Kimbo when he was on the ground taking those last shots. His head didn't even move. He was hardly phased by them. He just never recovered from that original perfectly placed shot.
- chadsterrr, on 10/08/2008, -1/+7I saw those :10 seconds
There is no luck in MMA... he outfought Kimbo - Fi9nutz, on 10/08/2008, -0/+6I watch for Gina
- Goldbricker, on 10/09/2008, -0/+6That punch would have landed you flat on the mat just like it did Kimbo. Elite XC didn't job Kimbo. What happened that night was their ***** nightmare. They would have done anything to prevent that from happening.
- chadsterrr, on 10/08/2008, -0/+6Man, GSP
Now that guy puts the art in MMA - SuperMoses, on 10/08/2008, -0/+6Yes, it's mainly EliteXC. Most MMA fans knew that Kimbo was a joke, but it was EliteXC through CBS promotion that deluded those new to MMA to think that Kimbo was top contender. To keep this sham going they had to do BS like this, which fortunately backfired and MMA fans were all laughing
- koolmoecraig, on 10/08/2008, -0/+5He went down more like Piston Hurricane.
- iiDLii, on 10/08/2008, -0/+5"BURIED AS ACCURATE"
Wow, some people are hard to please... - JesusXP, on 10/08/2008, -0/+4I logged in just to digg up your reply Cassanova, you are 100% correct. Kimbo has done nothing but be respectful to the sport and his opponents. He's just trying to make an honest living too.
Bas has beaten Shamrock, and thats what he was training Kimbo to do. The game plan went out the window the second Ken dropped from the fight. It was obvious he resorted back to his roots instead of his game plan. Probably just thought, "This guys 30lbs lighter than me, I'm going to mop the floor with him."
But it didn't happen like that.. - bca102, on 10/08/2008, -0/+4It's on network tv. I didn't have cable for a couple weeks, so I watched. It was awful, and I won't do it again now that I have SPIKE and a DVR again.
- Berkana, on 10/08/2008, -0/+4He didn't land a single punch.
- Fi9nutz, on 10/08/2008, -0/+4Get rid of the men and become a womens division. Those are the only good fights anyway.
- chadsterrr, on 10/08/2008, -0/+4Is that the wrestler that slapped the reporter?
- Kelden21, on 10/08/2008, -0/+4He very clearly charged into a "fade away" jab. It was a very very weak punch. Even in the replay i'm shocked it took him out, but he did run right into it.
- mnemy, on 10/08/2008, -0/+4EliteXC is managed by a bunch of goons. Instead of matching their best fighters and making good fights, all they want to do is pick a guy to promote to the top. Kimbo Slice is a joke. Any MMA fan can tell that by watching his videos. Your average UFC heavyweight would knock him senseless without breaking a sweat. Hell, I even gave Ken the steep advantage and he's way over the hill.
Case and point: My friend KJ Noons just got his lightweight belt taken away from him because he refused to fight under the conditions that EliteXC wanted. They wanted him to fight as the undercard to Kimbo Slice for chump change. First of all, he was the lightweight champion, and Kimbo doesn't even have a belt. Why would Kimbo be the main event? Second of all, they pay Nick Diaz 3x as much as KJ, even after KJ kicked Diaz' ass for the belt.
EliteXC picks their horses from the start, and get pissed off when they lose. KJ Noons was an unknown they had picked to lose to promote Nick Diaz. When Diaz got his ass kicked, the management threw a fit and refused to uphold their end of the contract, which was to promote KJ Noons' MMA and Boxing careers.
This is no way to get fans EliteXC. This is not staged Wrestling, this is fighting. If you can't change gears and promote the underdog when he wins, you're going to get no where.
I hope your organization fails, as it seems likely to do. - iiDLii, on 10/08/2008, -0/+4amen brother
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -4/+8EliteXC is to MMA....What "professional" wrestling is to REAL professional sports.
It's faggotry.....it's crap......it's a joke
Stick with the UFC... - YouRookies, on 10/08/2008, -0/+4Give me break, Machida haters. You got to appreciate his defense to like watching him. It's like watching defense in any sport, it's not as fun as offense but when you understand the art of defense, then you'll know why "defense wins championships".
