- paneech, on 06/25/2009, -0/+35Nice accounability factor, but just think of all of the drinks he could have bought with that self-imposed fine.
- mxxz, on 06/25/2009, -0/+31If only CEO's would do this instead of giving themselves bonuses for running companies into the ground.
- ethanator1088, on 06/25/2009, -1/+24He gets an "Attaboy" for manning up, and he loses $10 grand. Which would you rather have?
- ladbroke, on 06/26/2009, -0/+10I wish I made so much money that giving 10k to charity was a suitable punishment for anything I did.
- cawfee, on 06/26/2009, -0/+10Dugg for ' “creepy man” with a “hairy chest” '.
- KrisStrong, on 06/25/2009, -2/+9Why did Tony LaRussa cross the road?
He thought he saw the road to retirement.
/*rimshot*/ - dvsbastard, on 06/26/2009, -0/+6Ok, just to clear a few things up:
This was hardly an "honourable" move... and more so of a joke. The coach recently enforced a strict "no drinking policy before games", which resulted in two star players being dropped for admitting to a few beers at home before the game. He only fined himself after this hit mainstream media, to prevent himself from looking like a total hypocrit.
To add insult to injury, the team is coming dead last on the ladder, the players have absolutely no respect for him as a coach, and rumours are that his contract will not be renewed at the end of the season due to his shocking track record... - TheBifman, on 06/26/2009, -0/+5But then we wouldn't get to throw public money at them!
Oh wait...good idea - HawkieEyes, on 06/26/2009, -0/+3Meh, he is only a cockroach
- Pyehole, on 06/26/2009, -1/+5That's what is referred to as integrity. Pretty rare thing these days.
- mecharabbit, on 06/26/2009, -1/+4Breaking into a room with two women in it? Hello Penthouse Letters...
- siszam, on 06/26/2009, -0/+3My bank account.
- branndon, on 06/26/2009, -1/+4Good on him.
- HawkieEyes, on 06/26/2009, -0/+2Before you make that comment, please refer to dvsbastard's above comment to put this situation in context
- dreamweaver1984, on 06/26/2009, -0/+2billy Gillespie is that you?
- Yarkz, on 06/26/2009, -0/+2What would be a 'suitable charity',
- Yarkz, on 06/26/2009, -0/+2Are you one of the people who's place he tried to break into?
- droogieca, on 06/26/2009, -1/+3Quality move fining himself. A leader must hold himself to the same standards as his followers. (or in this case players. :P)
- Nephrastar, on 06/26/2009, -0/+2I don't see what the hell he's doing being a coach.
IMO I think he should run for Congress. - UncleAsriel, on 06/26/2009, -0/+2I have to admire the principle of his actions, but if what you say is true, dvsbastard, then I might be forced to reconsider this..
- PhoenixTx, on 06/26/2009, -0/+2LMAO!
- oSallyo, on 06/26/2009, -0/+2Pretty hard since he is Australian, and is the coach for Eastern Suburbs Roosters (Sydney Roosters) in the National Rugby League in Australia.
- HawkieEyes, on 06/26/2009, -0/+2He had no choice, he has fined his players more than that for similar incidents
- HawkieEyes, on 06/26/2009, -0/+2What dvsbastard said is definately true
- inactive, on 06/26/2009, -1/+2Good for him, following the same rules that he requires of his players.
- Moralogic, on 06/26/2009, -2/+2I rather have self respect like he went for. Too bad more people in this world aren't like him.
- dvsbastard, on 06/26/2009, -6/+6Holy crap! NRL news on Digg?!?!
