Can you imagine being the guy in the middle? You're just essentially hopping along. Crazy. - inactive, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Let me let you in on a little secret, life isn't about money or social status.
It's about what you do with what you are given and who you love. - alclone, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Why only Math and Physics?
- silentsteps, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2My dragon technique defeats your rabbit style.
- fireinbergen, on 11/14/2008, -0/+2A billion people in China, and about a 100 folks in the stands. Methinks the haughty city dwellers don't care about peasant folk.
- SirChasm, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2I had no idea the everyday lives of Chinese peasants were filled with 4-legged races and rolling tires!
- RiceLee22, on 11/14/2008, -0/+2What the christ. So what do you call 'American Idol' or 'Who wants to be a millionare' or ANY OTHER GAMESHOW?
- staffa, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2I dunno, that many of us in the west think there is something degrading about making a sport of the activity of farmers makes me wonder.
Do we think its degrading because the sports are not things we are used too.
Or do we think its degrading because it is a communist government hand feeding them their entertainment while they act like fat content pigs feeding at the troth?
If the former, then I guess we should get over our elitism and ego centric view of the sporting world. Farming is the ultimately the basis for all civilization and I have great respect for farmers of all nations. If their fun activities seem bizarre to us, that says more about us and how far removed we are from the foundation of our civilization, then it says about them.
If it is the latter, then I think you are just wrong.
Governments have all types of reasons to exist, but mostly it is to serve the ruling class by controlling the ruled. In theory, our form of government is to put everyone in both classes, both rulers and the ruled. It isn't perfect, there are still people for whom the rules don't seem to apply and there are still many who are disenfranchised, but compared to all other form of governments, it has been quite the success.
Communism/socialism actually has pretty noble goals, it appeals to the poor and disenfranchised for a reason. I agree that it tends to overlook a major flaw in human motivation by rewarding minimum effort. But that doesn't mean when China actually provides something fun for the farmers, an action that their form of government is by definition meant to provide, that I feel sorry for them. They are having fun, they are enjoying it. I give props to China for actually giving their people something they enjoy. I still despise them for the human rights violations and the lack of freedom of speech/press. But this, looks like fun, all my best wishes to China and I hope they keep it up. - arcooke, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2That 4-legged race does NOT sound easy..
- themastersb, on 11/14/2008, -0/+2Being a farmer is looked down upon? If I were a farmer and someone looked down on me I think I'd starve them.
- inactive, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1I would in a second. You have no way to prove otherwise.
- yacks, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1lol.. guy in stands with big smile.. ;)
- inactive, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1It's not a bluff. I'm waiting for my chance to do so.
- PsychoBrat, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1Why only focus on yourself? Why not "give them freedom or give me death"?
- scurf, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1I think there are Olympics for Math, Physics, Chemistry and Information Technology? They are in fact pretty big international events.
Here is ranking of countries for Math.

- TheHim, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1The 4-legged race looks awesome, they were so bloody fast. Coordination issues could end up bejing very painful.
Some of the girls look quite yummy. - 9enisP, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1I'd plant my seed in her real fast.
- acegi, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1it's because how farming is done in most part of asia. they don't have a mechanized system like we have here in western countries.
their farming method is very low tech, manual heavy work, thus people are put into this vicious cycle of low wage and low education.
and in contrast, north american farming is automated and requires high level of education to run the machines required. (tractors, airplanes etc.) - Synth3t1c, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1Oh, the link works but the js popup thing doesnt... :
