- UtahApocalyse, on 03/11/2008, -8/+120This is going to be the worst Olympics of all time.
- sizzzzlerz, on 03/11/2008, -1/+93Dude runs Olympic-caliber marathons with asthma?? I stand in awe!
- inactive, on 03/11/2008, -3/+87Well, the athletes have to agree not to criticize the PRC before they will be allowed to compete . . . by refusing to compete in this event, he's made as sharp a criticism as is possible to make . . . at least on the pollution.
- jd33, on 03/11/2008, -0/+79I'm thinking this is going to become a huge issue for these games. Competing at this level is hard enough, let alone doing it in polluted air. What was the IOC thinking holding games in Beijing? There's already so many issues, they must be regretting their decision. I remember trying to jog in Seoul, Korea. I got to the park and had to stop because I could barely breathe, and that was only a few blocks from where I started.
- bennyfreshness, on 03/11/2008, -1/+59China just added a new olympic event...
holding your breath all through the olympics ... - Fallout911, on 03/11/2008, -27/+75Good for him.
***** CHINA! - theeddyadams, on 03/11/2008, -4/+49Poor guy.
- LemonDefragger, on 03/11/2008, -6/+51I'm actually happy the Olympics are in Beijing. Now people will finally see how ***** things really are there.
- TBBucs, on 03/11/2008, -0/+31This guy trains 12 months out of the year for a competition that only comes around once every four years, and he has to drop out because of ***** Chinese air? That's a bitch.
- rhkenji, on 03/11/2008, -0/+27What do you call a group with the largest percentage of declared asthmatics? ATHLETES!
My first aid coach, also a college swimming coach, said that most athletes who competes in olympic type events declares themselves asthmatics so they could take a hit of bronchi dilating inhalers before competing. This is so they can get an advantage of having air pumped into their lungs easier/faster than the rest of non-cheating athletes. 60% of registered athletes are asthmatics.. and 99% of that 60% are not. - Lionhart, on 03/11/2008, -0/+26He's the world record holder too. That is amazing.
- norman619, on 03/11/2008, -0/+24Well he actually does have a valid health reason. I would do the same if I were him since I know what an asthma attack feels like.
- inactive, on 03/11/2008, -2/+25Since this is a communist country, aren't the polluters more or less... the government? Also, can you sue companies in China anyway? And why am I replying to an obvious troll?
- alex1015, on 03/11/2008, -8/+27*****. China sucks. Gebrselassie is a living legend
- MasterPlayer, on 03/11/2008, -1/+19They should have just let Toronto hold the 2008.
- gudnbluts, on 03/11/2008, -0/+18"Well, the athletes have to agree not to criticize the PRC before they will be allowed to compete"
I don't know about the US, but the British Olympic Association has dropped this requirement. - dizilbdog, on 03/11/2008, -1/+18I saw this on the BBC and they had pictures you can't even even see on the road there in China... It's like Fog that is stuck and it's not going away it's sad actually.
- tedlove, on 03/11/2008, -4/+20filthy ***** country
- coolgeek61813, on 03/11/2008, -1/+16I think the title for worst Olympic games has to go to 1936 games in Berlin. It solidly takes the gold on that one.
- LittleGerms, on 03/11/2008, -7/+22Hopefully this Olympics will be show the world how crappy China is and be a wake up call for China. God damn you idiots make me ashamed to be Chinese.
- Zorkon, on 03/11/2008, -1/+15Unless maybe he's like ... running a marathon while breathing that crap? Yeah. Maybe that's it.
- inactive, on 03/11/2008, -1/+14To clean the air? What do you want them to do, put one of those sharper image ionizers out there? The only thing that will clean the air is time and reduced pollution.
- SilverBack101, on 03/11/2008, -0/+13Olympic souvenir = breathing mask.
- RunningboardV2, on 03/11/2008, -0/+13Long ago when they had the olympics here in LA, the county told the refineries to shut down their processing for a week. It was probably the clearest anyone has ever seen LA without rain.
- aplardi, on 03/11/2008, -4/+16On top of that, I (in my sick state) misread that as 'Clinton pulls out' and was like OH SNAP...
upon further inspection (about .2 seconds later), i died a little inside. - ZenMojo, on 03/11/2008, -0/+12I could get that in the London Olympics.
- whahaa, on 03/11/2008, -2/+14unless you're a fan of flexible asian women in high definition.
- LanceUppercut, on 03/11/2008, -0/+11I hope English isn't your native language.
- AzureRise, on 03/11/2008, -3/+14***** you, skank.
- jnrosemas, on 03/11/2008, -3/+13Good for him. With all the ***** going on in China including killing hundreds of cats, displacing people from their homes, I think more people should forgo attendance.
- enders, on 03/11/2008, -0/+9lol dude that's some seriously poor verb confusion
- Joffroi, on 03/11/2008, -0/+9Yeah, the part that sucks the most is that he is the World Record holder in the marathon.
- tool4life, on 03/11/2008, -0/+8What about if they were to hold one in Antarctica? Nice and clean air...
- scotticus, on 03/11/2008, -3/+11That doesn't even make sense... Hilary is certainly past menopause. There's no reason to pull out.
- csisop, on 03/11/2008, -1/+9Clearly the answer is to build a giant dome over all the venues.
Failing that, run the marathon inside? - praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -0/+8I love you, *****.
- Dyar, on 03/11/2008, -0/+8I think it means the country will reduce the number of cars in the city, shut down some factories and try to improve the weather using technology.
- gudnbluts, on 03/11/2008, -0/+8I suspect he's actually a jpeg of a cat.
- Archer007, on 03/11/2008, -0/+8Remember, its Fog with a capital "F". Thats not your average, run-of-the-mill fog. This Fog Kills.
- Uranium118, on 03/11/2008, -2/+9I heard the Swedish team (and probably many others countries too) isn't even staying in China during the Olympics, they stay in Japan and will fly in for the events. That says something about the quality of the air.
- inactive, on 03/11/2008, -0/+7Um. Your body conditions itself to the environment.
- inactive, on 03/11/2008, -5/+12OH MY GOD. COMMUNIST!??!?! Next you'll be telling me they're gay and atheist too! Thank God for America!
- FortyCaliber, on 03/11/2008, -1/+8Because of the communist government here they can do things others can't ...[like] having volunteers plant thousands of trees..."
In Communist China, Government volunteers you! - iamanalog, on 03/11/2008, -1/+8Ancient Chinese Secret?
- Dyar, on 03/11/2008, -1/+7...or maybe they are just into Japanese girls.
- wushu18t, on 03/11/2008, -0/+6i don't know. jesse owens sticking it to the "superior race" IN berlin with 4 gold olympic medals ispriceless.
- DanOnTheMoon, on 03/11/2008, -4/+10"China's not communist!" LULZ, epic ***** lulz.
- barroni, on 03/11/2008, -2/+8I have work in a hospital for a few months, I know of 2 people fit 20somethings admitted with lung problems after visiting China
- diggdowner, on 03/11/2008, -0/+6Yeah... even that Nintendo Wii game (Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games) seems to be a letdown =/
- inactive, on 03/11/2008, -1/+7the last part of your post was a train wreck.
