- SooperSonic, on 10/20/2009, -3/+19Sure CBS can make Fedor mainstream. Just have him guest star on a few episodes of "NCIS" and "How I Met Your Mother".
- joesmailer, on 10/20/2009, -3/+18Fedor can easily take them to the next level, he's no Kimbo.
- mparker21311, on 10/20/2009, -2/+14You can put Fedor up against anyone and my money is on Fedor.
- JigoroKano, on 10/20/2009, -1/+12All this UFC ass kissing is getting annoying. Rogers is a crappy opponent for Fedor, but there are still plenty of great heavy weights outside of the UFC. Fedor doesn't need to go to the UFC to test himself. When this is over he can fight Overeem, Barnett, Bigfoot Silva, ... The UFC does not have all of the top heavy weight fighters and never has.
The UFC is the best organization, they have almost all of the best light heavy weights, middle weights, and welter weights. People like Jake Shields need to go to the UFC to prove themselves. Fedor does not. - Punjabdasher, on 10/20/2009, -0/+9And add to that Fedor thinks Dana White is a massive douchebag, and I really can't blame him for it.
- JohnnyAbomb, on 10/20/2009, -2/+10Why don't we ask any one of these guys if he's unbeatable, Dana? No one who ever stepped foot in your Octagon has even matched half of what he's done. Get Brock's ***** out of your ass and give the fanboys what they want to see already, I'm tired of seeing you ride Randy, Chuck and Tito...this isn't 1999.

Martin Lazarov - kneelB4zod, on 10/20/2009, -0/+7"has-beens and no-names" lol, compared to who? The legendary Brock Lesnar, Frank Mir… Big-nog? Big-nog is third in current UFC rankings, how many times has Fedor beaten the crap out of him? So that leaves Frank Mir and some ***** tool with a giant ***** tattooed on his chest! Now unless Shane Carwin or Valasquez prove to be totally kick ass, then the UFC heavyweight devsion is severely lacking in anything that can stand toe to toe with the legend.
- mparker21311, on 10/20/2009, -1/+7Fedor is a different kind of fighter. You naysayers can say what you want to... but Fedor has something most fighters don't, he has heart.
He's not going to sell out so easily. - NeoNcP, on 10/20/2009, -2/+7Oh come on, don't generalize.
- joshness, on 10/20/2009, -1/+6You're kidding about the not fought any top tier guy since 2004 right?
2005 - CroCop - Who was thought to be the guy to beat Fedor
2006 to 2008 - I would agree that there wasn't anyone that posed a real threat. Only notable names are Coleman, Lindland, and mark Hunt who were all undersized or past their prime.
2008 - Tim Sylvia - Overrated for sure, but was still considered a top 10. Remember, before the loss to Randy, he was on a six fight win streak with 2 wins over Arlovski.
2009 - Andrei Arlovski - The guy was ranked as a top 5 HW with many rankings having him as # 3, right behind Randy.
2009 - Was scheduled to fight Josh Barnett - The guy was considered the #2 in the world until his steroid scandal.
2009 - Scheduled to fight Brett Rogers - The guy is a top 10 heavyweight in most HW rankings. He is pretty much on the same level as Carwin which is the opponent that Brock Lesnar is facing.
Seems to me that he has been facing top competition, especially as of late. Just because they aren't in the UFC doesn't mean they aren't top talent. It isn't until recently that the UFC has had a decent HW division. Pride was always the premiere place to find the HWs. - TrevorBelmont, on 10/20/2009, -0/+5Correction: EliteXC fight cards were usually beatings.
Strikeforce has a little more credibility than EliteXC did and might be able to offer some quality fights. - mparker21311, on 10/20/2009, -1/+6Fedor has a family. Two children and a wife. He doesn't want to live in America, he loves his country.
What's so wrong about that? - zekolas, on 10/20/2009, -2/+6I think CBS is making the same mistake by promoting one fighter, instead of the promotion "strikeforce" or the sport "MMA". Fedor is good but not un-beatable, and he has not fought a top tier guy since 2004. CBS only promoting Fedor, what happens if Brett Rogers Beats him? Will it be like when Kimbo lost and they dropped the whole sport?
I personally think Brett Rogers will KO Fedor, and basing their whole marketing around 1 man is a bad idea. - bigstinky, on 10/20/2009, -0/+4"Lesnar would destroy Fedor"...?!?
Speculation, wrasslin' fan. Speculation.
Does Dana test for steroids?
Fedor is a technician. Lesnar is a freak. No one in the game has Fedor's skill. And that's not just my worthless opinion. There's many pro's out there expressing the same sentiment. - enozten, on 10/20/2009, -2/+6If anybody's going mainstream, it's GSP.
Articulate, classy, handsome, well dressed, and a very exciting fighter.
he's like the Jeter of MMA - mparker21311, on 10/20/2009, -1/+5Who said that Fedor had to take the contract? What if Fedor didn't want it? Is he not allowed to not want to fight in the UFC?
- JigoroKano, on 10/20/2009, -1/+5Rampage was never a PRIDE champion and he came over to the UFC and became a champion.
Wanderlei and Henderson were the last PRIDE LHW champions and they came over to the UFC and neither could become champion.
Fighters change over time. Different PRIDE fighters have had different levels of success in the UFC. You are trying to make an argument out of what is essentially a single anecdote in CroCop. - PhillAholic, on 10/20/2009, -0/+4UFC wants to control him. They want him to fight in UFC and only UFC. Fedor wants to continue fighting in Russia. If Dana white would lighten up, we would have seen Fedor in UFC by now.
- newsound6, on 10/20/2009, -3/+6Thank god we have those other professional football and basketball leagues keeping the NFL and NBA in check.
- cloneenolc, on 10/20/2009, -4/+7UFC and Dana are money hungry whores. Fedor is the best fighter, he does not need to prove anything and does not need the UFC. Before UFC was hillbilly heaven Pride was tops... Fedor Proved himself many times there. Only Loss being a TKO because of a cut, he came back and annihilated the guy the next time they fought.
If you know your history you know he is the Best Fighter around. - ak666jk, on 10/21/2009, -0/+2If you think he's overrated, name a better fighter.
- Mujokan, on 10/20/2009, -1/+3I don't have a problem with a diversity of leagues with top talent. If Fedor didn't feel comfortable in UFC for whatever reason, that's up to him. I'm sure his presence will up the pressure at Strikeforce or wherever he goes, which is all to the good.
Of course no-one is unbeatable, but he's entertaining to watch, and technically great. There's certainly nothing fake about him, which may or may not be an advantage in marketing terms. - Punjabdasher, on 10/20/2009, -0/+2@holdenw1 go look at videos of dana white. then you will see
- dalittle, on 10/20/2009, -6/+8Something to actually compete with the UFC will make the whole sport better. Competition always does.
- thirdeyeopen, on 10/20/2009, -2/+4CBS is *****, did no one watch those fights? I remember them cutting away when there was blood, what did you expect?
- dayal911, on 10/20/2009, -0/+2YOu are what we call a "sheep"
- MyCorona, on 10/20/2009, -0/+1ha.
oh wait you're serious?
HA! - alrightwtf, on 10/20/2009, -0/+1this is the first time in quite some time that i've been a little worried about fedor here. rogers is a beast. but ***** it, fedor ftw.
- dayal911, on 10/20/2009, -0/+1The teams are privately owned franchises that compete amongst each other.
- dalittle, on 10/20/2009, -2/+3you mean the professional football and basketball leagues I don't watch, but the college ones I do?
- boredrph, on 10/20/2009, -0/+1so what you are saying is we need college MMA teams? I like your thinking
- forcedfx, on 10/20/2009, -0/+1Not me. I just want to see somebody get ***** up.
- inactive, on 10/20/2009, -0/+1Unfortunately, you are right joesmailer. CBS has been running freak shows, however, Fedor adds some credibility to the promoter. Kimbo was a huge draw but it was a circus act. Even Kimbo knew CBS (Elite XC) was a weak organization and that's why he is on The Ultimate Fighter.
- inactive, on 10/20/2009, -0/+1woops was meant as a reply to another digger's comment, lol.
- inevitablity, on 10/20/2009, -1/+2I have no doubt that Fedor was one of the greater fighters around, however, his claim to still be is debatable. While facing legitimate competition in Arlovski and Sylvia, it stands to be seen how he would fare against numerous other heavy's. Many of the people he beat who are still competing have not fared so well, besides Noguiera. I think he is likely the best, and maybe its just my strong desire to see him knock out Lesnar, but I want him in the UFC.
ESPECIALLY to knock out Lesnar. - DickMasterson2, on 10/23/2009, -0/+1No they can't. UFC makes stars because they are the UFC. It's hard for anybody else to compete because casual fans know MMA as either UFC or Ultimate Fighting. I like Strikeforce, but they will never be able to compete.
- Jerky1312, on 10/21/2009, -0/+1Jake Shields will have tougher opponents than Fedor, within Strikeforce. Strikeforce's middleweight division is one of their deepest. They have the likes of Jacare Souza (10-2), Mayhem Miller (22-6), Cung Le (6-0), Frank Shamrock (23-10), Robbie Lawler (16-5), Scott Smith (16-6), Benji Radach (19-5), Matt Lindland (21-6), Tim Kennedy (11-2) and Kazuo Misaki (22-9). In the heavyweight division, other than Werdum, Overeem and Silva, I wouldn't think anyone else deserves a shot at Fedor.
- AddiX, on 10/20/2009, -1/+2LoL at Kimbo being more popular than Fedor, MMA's popularity is relying on the same people who watch WWF. Thats the truth.
- Jerky1312, on 10/21/2009, -0/+1Kimbo didn't know *****. Kimbo was getting paid big bucks and fighting guys he was supposed to defeat. He would have most likely defeat the opponent that was schedule for him, Ken Shamrock, but when he couldn't go and had to fight the replacement and subsequently lost, the company crumbled. He only left because he no longer had a home, not because he had some sort of vision into the future. The outcome was in front of his face soon there after. He also took quite a while to sign a new contract.
- rheaume, on 10/20/2009, -0/+1You lost me at "turning down the contract with the UFC I no longer do"
- uruururr, on 10/20/2009, -0/+1speculation? uh its just as much speculation to say that fedor would win.
- inactive, on 10/20/2009, -0/+1wrong, and wrong
- ohplease, on 10/20/2009, -1/+2Dugg. In my experience, for the most part the only people who are fans of MMA that don't act like tough guys are usually guys who actually train.
- boredrph, on 10/20/2009, -1/+1well that is something I can agree with Fedor on
- boredrph, on 10/20/2009, -2/+2Did I say he had to take it? No, I said my respect for him decreased because of his avoidance or higher competition. Maybe he has a legitimate reason that I don't know of, but if he wants to be considered the best, shouldn't he prove it by fighting the best? If he just wants to fight, and not claim to be the world's best heavyweight, or world's best pound for pound fighter... fine.
- madvillain23, on 10/20/2009, -3/+3I find it hard to get excited for a fight when the odds are so one sided. Its always nice to see Fedor show his skills but its always more exciting when i'm not 98% sure of who is gonna win. i donno why everyone sticks up for Fedor when he chooses strikeforce. I think it was lame, hard to get very excited for his fight against mediocre opponents even when he eventually fights Overeem. Dont kid yourself into thinking there was any other reason for not joining the UFC besides the M-1 global thing.
- dangero, on 10/20/2009, -2/+2don't count Rogers out. Fedor will have a tough time becoming famous off the cbs fight if he gets knocked out in the first round. Anyone like Rogers has a puncher's chance. Fedor will eventually lose like everyone else does.
- inactive, on 10/20/2009, -1/+1CBS made a deal with the Russian mob? Until those f**ks deal with Dana, Fedor will never have the fight that will put his hype to the test. Fedor v Lesnor. Dana has said many, many times that he would cross promote that fight, but the Russian mob refuses to split equally. Dana, a money hungry whore? Unfortunately, tapout shirt wearing poser, that is far from the truth.
- boredrph, on 10/20/2009, -2/+2I ask because I honestly don't know... was living in America part of his contract with the UFC? Plenty of other fighters have fought in the UFC without residing in America... so if it is I would be surprised but not saying its impossible.
On the other hand, the upcoming fight against Rogers is at the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates, IL... so he is still fighting in America. If this is no different than his UFC contract... what's his excuse then? -
