- downlo, on 10/05/2008, -1/+7Cause branding is the real issue here.
- btschul, on 10/05/2008, -0/+5Yeah? I'll be the first to reach right through this interweb and kick your ass.
- hnazareth16, on 10/05/2008, -0/+4My friend went to Lehman College in New York, and his parents asked him what he was going to do now the school went bankrupt. True story -- branding does hurt.
Side-note: My friend's parents aren't very bright. - raybury, on 10/05/2008, -0/+3Exactly. With the merger mania a few years ago -- which was followed shortly by the spin-off wave -- these same venues all learned to incorporate what many already had, contract clauses dealing with who pays for name changes, when the venue can pocket the prepayments and sell naming rights to someone else, and so on.
I look forward to an honestly-named stadium: Taxpayers' Field. - aramova, on 10/05/2008, -0/+3Obscure Russian church used for image. Cool..

- badqat, on 10/05/2008, -5/+7There is no algorithm...just a group of admins who throw whatever they feel like up on the front page.
- FattyCorpuscle, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2Live from the Massengill Terrordome, it's Monday Night Football!
- seventhc, on 10/05/2008, -0/+2You were first and yet, you wasted it.
- airwalkery2k, on 10/05/2008, -0/+2You are clearly superior to the rest of us.
- TKn00b, on 10/05/2008, -0/+2The algorithm is all knowing. Don't question the algorithm.
- lisaawesome, on 10/05/2008, -0/+1This naming rights stuff annoys me. In OKC we had the Myriad Convention Center for as long as anyone could remember. Several years ago it became the Cox Convention Center when Cox Communications bought the naming rights. No one who has lived here for more than a few years ever refers to it as Cox because it isn't Cox it is the Myriad. Other things downtown also have the name of Myriad such and such so it breaks the unified downtown feel of the city and it takes the local charm of not having everything branded to hell. Now we also have the Ford Arena and people are constantly mixing the two up because they're just meaningless corporate names to us. Long story short naming rights piss me off.
- heystoopid, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1Sadly that is the least of their worries a big German Bank in desperate need of a hundred and twenty billion euros is going down hard

2. Naming rights are the most retarded investment ever. Who decided to be a member of WaMu after they went to WaMu stadium? I don't even see how it helps with branding, its just a waste of money. - inactive, on 10/05/2008, -0/+1THE NEXT BUYOUTS? SATES LIKE CA, NJ will need their pension funds bought out from poor " The Emperors New derivative ethereal Investments" and not to mention they have grown quite use to the big TRANSFER TAXES on real estate buys and all that SALES TAX they are no longer getting. You don't expect them to shrink their spending like your budget does do you? Watch NJ and CA as they were in deficit even when most states had huge surpluses.....Hint to the future. We are in for greater tough times
- inigomntoya, on 10/05/2008, -2/+3Watch your mouth here. You will be banned for such blasphemy!
- randomizer9, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1Yet another reason I will miss Texas Stadium, I am not looking forward to seeing the Dallas Cowboys play in Pepsi Field or whatever they decide to name it.
- inactive, on 10/06/2008, -1/+2Untill real CHANGE $$ in campaign financing happens you have bought politicians.
It's like going to a casino and they (the big donaters) alrady went through the card deck of politicians and decided who you may choose or vote for. Problem is you can anly vote for the ones they already chose for you.. The list above picked through for you so thank them and you got 2 losers who will win them more money! - inactive, on 10/05/2008, -2/+3Yet digg ***** still trust Obama.... he's just another politician you morons
- bluesman3535, on 10/05/2008, -0/+1The developers of these arenas should have partnered with food companies instead of banks. 'Oscar-Mayer Auditorium' 'Purina Dog Chow Arena" Catchy.....
- zerobriers, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1Manchester United, one of the world's best known sports brands has AIG on their jersey. Meaning, in a way, the US Government is their sponsor. What else with the US government sponsor?
- b0rg, on 10/05/2008, -0/+1Enron Field.
