- levitron, on 10/06/2008, -1/+19My church community refuses to participate or support a local Dragon Boat Race fundraising event for breast cancer, because they're suspicious of the spiritual origins of this Chinese tradition.
I love my God, but sometimes I really hate christians. - basye, on 10/06/2008, -0/+12Any exercise to work through the pain and promote healing is helpful during recuperation, period. I used an elliptical trainer with handles that go back and forth, did stretching, some canoeing. The more breaking down/building up of those cells which are healing the better.
- ohnoerino, on 10/06/2008, -0/+11Always inspiring to read articles like this.
- chr00t, on 10/06/2008, -0/+9dugg for my sister (A breast cancer survivor)
- aherman, on 10/06/2008, -0/+8There's a dragon boat festival in Edmonton, Alberta every year. My mom is on a team of 20-50 year old women. They always get destroyed by the breast cancer survivor team, who are for the most part in their 60s. Needless to say, I made fun of my mother.
- BXRWXR, on 10/06/2008, -0/+7Ancient Chinese secret huh?
- chrisinsocalif, on 10/06/2008, -0/+3You can try the modern day equivalent, the rowing machine at the gym.
- passedoutghost, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2Your church community = wtf?
I'm Christian too, but I don't have a problem with dragon boat races or festivals. I guess it's because I'm Chinese as well. - bgrah449, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1Christians hating on Christians, Digg is gonna love this *****.
- awtripp, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1Wait a minute... Calgon!?
- zerton, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1good thing these are all over the place!
- godfly, on 10/06/2008, -1/+2i can't find the reference link right now but i've read somewhere that exercise can actually worsen cancer because you'll just end up feeding more blood to it. the article says that it might just speed up the growth of tumor...
but to hell with these studies.. one day coffee is bad, and then it's good, and then smoking is good for preventing alzheimer's... - HelplessSEAL, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1I've done Dragonboating before, and damn, is it insane! The motion works your chest, legs, and torso more than any exercise I've ever done...if your arms end up hurting more than the rest of your body at the end of the day, you're doing it wrong
- inactive, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1My sister is a breast cancer survivor and can not use her arm, ever again! That is all I meant by this comment, but maybe this would not be very therapeutic for her and I don't get the negative diggs?
- mightybj, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1The workaround is to row the boat with pets. That sounds biblical.
- silfiriel, on 10/06/2008, -3/+3no way, something nice about China on the front page? has digg gone mad????
- kungfucancer, on 10/17/2008, -0/+0try some other ways to cure cancer, such as listed in www.kungfucancer.com
- cawpin, on 10/06/2008, -1/+1Agreed.
- ewertz, on 10/06/2008, -0/+0Well, yes and no.
Most of the water's so polluted in China that you're probably more at risk for cancer by putting your hands in the water, so this may not be the net win anymore that it used to be. - ewertz, on 10/06/2008, -0/+0Hmmm, what would Bill Maher do?
- inactive, on 10/06/2008, -3/+2My sister is not allowed to use her arm at all. I guess she would be rowing on one side.
- wilsondus, on 10/06/2008, -2/+1The article is about breast cancer survivors.... chances are, they no longer have any. Not trying to be funny, it's just a little off for you to say that.
- aherman, on 10/06/2008, -2/+1I'm looking for something to give my dingle less tingle. Me quick want slow! Wait, that's Indian...
