- FearSonic, on 04/20/2009, -0/+12This man is an inspiration, and I wish him the best.
- RiotHeart, on 04/20/2009, -1/+12It seems like everyone without legs wants to run marathons and everyone with legs well, sits and plays on digg
- driftwood07, on 04/20/2009, -0/+9 3hr 10min is damn impressive for anyone
- markwooten, on 04/20/2009, -0/+6This is a ridicously amazing accomplishment. I'm an "able-bodied" fitness professional, and my best marathon time is 3:59. The next time you're on a treadmill, type-in 8.3 on your speed, and see how long you can sustain that pace. That's Boston pace. And he did it with one leg.
- camintmier, on 04/20/2009, -1/+7Well, at least his name's not Rick Roll...
- markwooten, on 04/20/2009, -0/+5Actually, without your calves, your quads and hamstrings have to do signficantly more work. There is no unfair advantage for this guy.
And you're a dick. - brownsound00, on 04/20/2009, -0/+4Dude for living close to me.
- inactive, on 04/20/2009, -0/+4hes on pace right now for a 2 hour 57 minute finish!

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124018868061633623 ... - brownsound00, on 04/20/2009, -0/+4lol. wow. i didn't even realize i said dude. must be all the talk of 4/20... duuuuuuuude
- jorisb, on 04/20/2009, -0/+4Final official time is 3:01:50, that would make it the new world record amputee marathon time.
edit: crap, I was wrong. From the Star: "The world marathon record for a amputee is two hours and 57 minutes, held by Richard Whitehead, who will also be running in Boston." - BrokenVisage, on 04/20/2009, -0/+4Dugg for duding for living close to you.
- markwooten, on 04/20/2009, -0/+3ridiculously. Gosh, I rely on spell-check too much.
- krwlngindark, on 04/20/2009, -0/+3Break a leg!!!
- TheJimid, on 04/20/2009, -0/+3HE DID IT!!!!!!! Congrats Champion.
- vafada, on 04/20/2009, -0/+2Doesn't being an amputee give you a certain advantage? No knee and foot pain/cramps on the prosthesis leg?
- durruticolumn, on 09/18/2009, -1/+2
Poor little tink tink.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qlNEmpxQxI - markwooten, on 04/20/2009, -0/+1Coincidentally, I had Oscar Pistorius in mind when I made that statement. There was a very good article in Wired a few months before the Olympics that detailed the additional work that he had to do generate the same amount of power.
- BrokenVisage, on 04/20/2009, -0/+1I'd give him a hand, but he doesn't need one of those.... Thank you I'm here all life!
- randumbusername, on 04/21/2009, -0/+1maybe the T-1000 can run the race alongside humans one day.
damn, CHANNELOCK beat me. - inactive, on 04/20/2009, -0/+1Robo marathoner Skynet model T-3000
- heeter61, on 04/20/2009, -0/+1and you wouldn't likely be able to type without fingers...
So before you close your small mind...try qualifying...no wait... try running the Boston Marathon. Rick didn't lose...he broke a world record. He is a winner in every sense of the word and you should be proud for your fellow man. You are the loser. - bwonder, on 04/20/2009, -3/+3I hear he's got a leg-up on the competition.
- fritzek, on 04/20/2009, -1/+1Not really. The spring does a lot of work and is more efficient than muscles and tendons. I don't know if its the case of this guy, but people with artificial legs can be much better in all kinds of track events.

I see you are trying to be politically correct here, but allowing amputees entering regular competition is unfair.
P.S. But this conversation is off-topic, since he's going to set "world record for amputee runners", which is not mentioned in the title. - brownsound00, on 04/20/2009, -1/+1shut up you JACKASS
- heeter61, on 04/20/2009, -1/+1he has achieved an amazing accomplishment, obviously done more with his life than you.
- heeter61, on 04/20/2009, -0/+0thank you. an accomplishment for anyone...
- heeter61, on 04/20/2009, -0/+0and what would YOUR Boston Marathon time be?
- s10stealth, on 04/20/2009, -1/+0Nice to see that someone is getting "assistance" in his running with mechanics.
Advantage: The mechanical limb results in less muscles to burn energy than everyone else. - pacman122, on 04/20/2009, -4/+1How long till someone makes a rick roll out of this?
- skztr, on 04/20/2009, -4/+0for a fitness professional, you sure are an ignorant ***** regarding your profession.
- inactive, on 04/20/2009, -15/+1Hehehe. As an amputee he's lost the race before he's even started.
Plus, that leg gives him an unfair advantage. He should really be disqualified.
