- mrogi, on 03/06/2009, -0/+8The most enjoyable sports activity on a cruise ship is to swallow a few Viagra and bang your old lady hard like she was a whore you met on 24 hr shore leave.
- scarz99, on 03/06/2009, -0/+7I didn't know that sports enthusiasts who search for cruise ship activities was such a big demographic on digg.
- sockpuppets, on 03/06/2009, -0/+7I like to dress up as frank the bunny and knock on random cabin doors late at night.
- TylerDuhrdan, on 03/06/2009, -0/+6Wife and I paid 1100.00 for a 7 day cruise to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. In total we spent maybe 2000.00 including the fare. You could spend even less by taking your own booze with you (Carnival does not check your bags going on the ship), They allow 2 cases of soda per person, and by not buying "adventures" at port from the cruise ship, example, we stayed on the ship in Jamaica, did a little shopping in GC, but instead of paying the 200.00 for the cruise ships snorkel trip, we paid 80.00 to a local Mexican snorkel boat, got free beer and a 4 hour snorkel trip. it was pretty nice, and spent most of our money in Cozumel where everything was cheaper.
We do this ever year now. it is not as expensive as you think. - sockpuppets, on 03/06/2009, -0/+4In case you thought I was kidding:

- immatellyouwhat, on 03/06/2009, -1/+4Can run on deck in my Flippie Floppies?
- Emachine, on 03/06/2009, -0/+3FTA: "One of the main attractions on Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas, which will launch later this year, is Central Park. Spanning the length of a football field"
...why not have the football field instead? - pervy_the_clown, on 03/06/2009, -0/+2That park seems awesome
- welshie, on 03/06/2009, -0/+2So, let me get things straight. You have a great big country with lots of dry land, full of sports facilities (natural and man-made), and for a few weeks, you decide to spend cooped up in a large floating metal box, where they try to entertain all of the customers, get food poisoning, and play pretty poor substitute games for the sort of sporting activities you can perform on terra firma much better?
- PanicAK, on 03/06/2009, -0/+2These boats are ***** massive. That kind of stuff is indoors.
- Jeepinator, on 03/06/2009, -1/+2Cruises suck. Go on a mountain biking trip or something for fun.
- NuchDog, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1How would you possibly bowl or ice skate on a boat when there is any kind of weather?
- Chaoticfist, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1I agree the trips can be pretty cheap, me and my sister and friend got a cruise to mexico total was about 600 for a week with carnival cruise lines. It was a pretty sweet trip and not bad for 600.
- BTom14, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1Putting the state of the economy aside... who the ***** cares?
- hrpmike, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1Slow news day
- brewt, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1I love to go on cruises, and now is a great time to find a deal. I just found a great deal at http://www.bestcruisedeals.org 7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise for under $500 per person.
- Obsession88, on 03/06/2009, -1/+2For the cruise no one can afford to go on.
- sloppychris, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1I've found some Carnival cruises, where if you buy them at the right time go as low as $300 per person. The ships aren't the fanciest out there, but you practically eat that much in food on board.
- Bobboq, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1The only cruise i went on we spent about half the time playing ping pong and gambling. And the rest of it eating and drinking.
- asgardshill, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1Carnival Triumph?
I still find new stuff to do in Ocho Rios every year. - PanicAK, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1I want to go on a cruise, been looking at them for years.
- metalhead3767, on 03/06/2009, -1/+2Do real sports come with 5 star dining and a stop at a new tropical location almost every day?
- mypetridish, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1i dont get this. why would you want to stay on a ship doing the same thing on land, albeit with a less than stellar experience?
if i were to go for a cruise, id just relax with a loved one. that's right, my next honeymoon would probably be on a cruise. i dont think id care about surfing, bowling, rock climbing on a cruise though. - foomojive, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1I can hardly believe this sorry excuse for "sports activities." Horse racing with dice and cardboard? WTF?! Ice skating sounds good but knowing cruise ships I bet the rink is tiny and crowded. Bungie Trampolining?? When's the last time you saw the world bungie trampolining championships on ESPN? This is kids stuff. Wii is neat and all but it's definitely not a sport and you can play it anywhere. Virtual golf? Redundant, it's on Wii. You don't even get the accuracy or the walking, where the exercise comes in. Bowling is not a sport in my book and Wii bowling is about as active. Contrary to popular belief, walking in the park is just the ***** same as walking anywhere else.
Ok so how about rock climbing? On a 1 week cruise I went on, rock climbing was only open for a few days and only for 2-3 hours at a time so there were tons of people in line for a dinky rock climbing wall that you can only do once before you have to wait 1/2 hour in line again. Flowrider? I'd love to do it but (1) I'm sure it's totally dependent on the weather (no rain, no wind, no cold) and (2) I'm sure there are twice as many in line as the rock climbing wall. Treadmills don't count, you can treadmill anywhere. Running around the deck doesn't count because you can't ***** do it because so many people are standing in the middle or walking 3 abreast. By this time you're probably thinking of jumping off the boat and swimming alongside just to do something active.
What about excursions? At least you can do something active when you get off the boat, right? Wrong again. Cruises are tailored for fat-asses who like to eat 50 times a day at 24x7 buffets and sit next to a pool and sunburn their fat. The provided list of excursions we had at 2 destinations (jamaica and and island off the coast of haiti) had a scale of 1 to 5 on the strenuous scale. The highest any of them got to was 3.
To anyone who lives the active lifestyle: don't let your friends convince you. You will not love cruises once you try it, you will HATE it with a passion just like you thought you would. - cschoeps, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1aaaand....T-Pain
- lovemorgul, on 03/05/2009, -0/+1sampling of some of the more interesting offerings.
- livet0ski, on 08/17/2009, -0/+1Flowrider = friggin sweet.
- TylerDuhrdan, on 03/06/2009, -0/+0No, my business has been affected alot, I should be working 3 times more than I am now compared to last year or the year before, alot of people are opting not to have me at their event to save money, infact I have been taking jobs at 1/2 to 1/3 my normal rate just yo keep my ass off the couch.
We have been ditching unneeded things like satellite tv, cell phones, etc to be able to afford a yearly trip, or to have extra money in the bank. - frasermoo, on 03/06/2009, -0/+0you win sir, you win.
- inactive, on 03/06/2009, -0/+0when did I mention you? It never said that some people who are not valuable enough to employers or clients weren't feeling the pinch. But most people are not. The fact still remains that MOST people are fine. Most people can still take cruises if they want to, and could have last year, or 3 years ago.
- TheCoolestNerd, on 03/06/2009, -1/+1What about riding dolphins? I've seen people do flips and *****, but the dolphin splashes and gets everybody all wet. It wasn't seaworld, it was very real, as real as it gets! I was on a boat, ***** don't ever forget...
- buzzydotinfo, on 03/06/2009, -2/+2I can see the true sports enthusiast being sated by the stunning array of sporting activities here.
Here's some better, albeit obvious, advice for the sports enthusiast: Instead of spending thousands on a cruise just so you can play Wii and go bowling, spend considerably less money, get out there and do the sports *for real* - inactive, on 03/06/2009, -1/+0that ocmmetn is really ignorant and getting tiresome. MOST people have not been affected negatively one bit by this economy. Over 19 out of every 20 people that had jobs 2 years ago still have them today. They have just as much earning power as they did.
This notion that every American knows at least 5 people who are on the verge of homelessness is absurd. - BlackxZ3phYr, on 03/06/2009, -1/+0Dugg for the Wii!
- cfuse, on 03/06/2009, -3/+1Rich pricks, I hope your floating monument to avarice sinks killing all on board.
