- purkel, on 10/23/2009, -1/+51I think Gina Carano is hotter than most super models. I dont like skinny ass supermodels who look anorexic.
- bigthree, on 10/23/2009, -1/+49Gina can wrap her thighs around my head anytime...what a great submission that would be
- shakesmcgee1, on 10/23/2009, -0/+41Gina Carano is HOTT!
- Awwzm, on 10/23/2009, -0/+35That's fine by me!
- chicagojack, on 10/23/2009, -3/+29Gina is cute, but lets be serious, she is about 45 lbs. away from being a supermodel
- mattypantsmaxx, on 10/23/2009, -0/+17dugg for gina
- TheCutestCamper, on 10/28/2009, -0/+17Most likely, she would woop your ass. There are simple ways to handle much larger opponents, especially an untrained fighter.
- compgeek, on 10/23/2009, -0/+15Dugg for Gina. Holy Jesus is she ever HOT!
- thezoner, on 10/23/2009, -0/+15you mean like NCAA wrestling? The Olympics? comment fail
- awtripp, on 10/23/2009, -0/+14That's because he used to be a hobo.
- EH90, on 10/23/2009, -0/+13Where's Fedor? He reminds me of Toby from the office.
http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/2009/writers/josh_gross ... - Aryman104, on 10/23/2009, -0/+13You have no idea what you're talking about.
- Papercraft, on 10/23/2009, -0/+12That's right! And swimmers are atheletes who couldn't cut it playing football!
- anklesnap, on 10/23/2009, -0/+12Nice glasses Darrill!
- zuiquan, on 10/23/2009, -0/+10You wrecked your own argument by talking about Kimbo. Nobody respects that guy. He hasn't fought "anybody" and won, whenever he fought "somebody" they thrashed him.
- unmitigatedgaul, on 10/23/2009, -0/+10yeah no complaints here.
- Kireblade, on 10/23/2009, -2/+11The first fighter is who Rampage refers to as Tiddies!
http://tiddies.ytmnd.com/ - Peko, on 10/23/2009, -0/+8Remember that guy, Royce something? Some little brazillian dude. 6'2", 180 lbs. Looked pretty fit but nothing memorable.
Little brazillian dude somehow was able to consistently choke out -trained and experienced- fighters who outweighed him by 70 lbs.
You sir are not trained and experienced. So I'm guessing Gina would jab a few times, slip your hamhanded haymaker, counter with a short hook or two, trip you and have you in an arm bar in under 30 seconds. - MeNorski, on 10/23/2009, -0/+8 ^^^^ Thats not Gina Carano.
- ColonelJessup, on 10/23/2009, -1/+9I watch a lot of MMA and UFC stuff, so I know how to fight. I'm going to go put on my Affliction t-shirt and Tapout shorts, go to the mall, and start a fight with the first 120 lb. scrawny emo kid I run into.
- jasvll, on 10/23/2009, -0/+8"Lesnar came out of the ***** WWF and is a champion after a few fights. I dont wanna hear he wrestled in college. So what? "
Um, he was a dominant national champion with a record of 106-5. Dismissing that is ridiculous, considering wrestling is at the core of the sport. Not to mention, he also walked onto an NFL team despite not playing since high school. Seems he excels in athletic endeavors, period.
And Nelson IS athletically gifted, has developed technical skills, and has devoted years to the sport. He just doesn't look like it, superficially. That being said, after several years in 'minor league' promotions, he's still being brought into the UFC through a feeder show, not debuting at the top of the sport.
As for Kimbo Slice, he's hardly at the top level, and people who know the sport will be the first to let you know. - TheMeatball, on 10/23/2009, -0/+8Miley Cyrus is one of music's biggest stars, and she's a teenager and can't even play an instrument. Does that mean music should be written off as an artform?
Kimbo may be one of MMAs biggest stars, but he is in no way representative of the sport's best talent.
Are you saying people like Anderson Silva and Georges St. Pierre aren't athletically gifted, or highly talented?
To quote the great Aryman104: "You have no idea what you're talking about." - NoMercy, on 10/23/2009, -0/+7mirror:
http://rorr.im/digg.com/other_sports/8_mma_fighter ... - TheMeatball, on 10/23/2009, -0/+7Professional fighters have skills that aren't readily apparent. Little things that you might not take into account such as superior balance, body awareness, flexibility and agility all factor in with obvious things like striking power and takedown technique.
If you attempted to defeat her with "brute force", she'd hand you your ass, no doubt. - RuffRidr, on 10/23/2009, -0/+7I'd add Clay Guida to this list as well.
- blackinthmiddle, on 10/23/2009, -0/+6The title is "8 MMA Fighters That Don't Look Like MMA Fighters". So...why would Kimbo be on this list?
- awtripp, on 10/23/2009, -0/+6If she has any Judo or Aikido training she'd wreck you.
edit: Looks like she's trained Muay Thai fighter. - shakesmcgee1, on 10/23/2009, -0/+6Yeah no...I'm pretty sure she'd break me in half and eat my muscle just to get stronger!
- frequentFlyer, on 10/23/2009, -0/+6A-freakin-men brother purkel.
- covertbadger, on 10/23/2009, -0/+5"90% of these guys that get built up as something special are terrible"
The only people you've named so far are Lesnar, Kimbo, and a handful of TUF hopefuls. It's been pointed out to you that Lesnar also walked into an NFL team, negating your argument that this only happens in MMA. Kimbo has been derided by pretty much everyone since he turned pro. NOBODY argues Kimbo is legit unless they're promoting one of his fights. And slating the TUFers is beyond pathetic - the point of that show is that they're trying to earn a spot, not that they're overhyped. So until you've actually made a point that isn't trivially rebuked, you're not going to make much progress.
You also show little knowledge of the sport, beyond grabbing the names of all the champions who aren't Lesnar from the UFC wikipedia page. Still, I'll bite - one of the fighters listed on this article is Gegard Mousasi. Please deconstruct his technique, expertise, and athleticism. - Yomoska, on 10/23/2009, -0/+5A lot of untrained people always forget to keep their hands up, and pretty much anyone who can throw a decent punch can knock an untrained person out.
- TBBucs, on 10/23/2009, -0/+5Try to cop a feel and see what happens.
- inevitablity, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4First, on Roy Nelson, guys a slob, but in great shape. In order to fight three five minute rounds you have to be or you'll gas. For athletic reference in main sports look at some NFL linemen who can also be on the rounder side yet still in great shape.
Kimbo made a name for himself on Youtube and was marketed on CBS as some big thing. He's a humble guy who can hit hard but an MMA figher he is not. (although I do genuinely like the guy)
Lesnar has been wrestling (the real kind, not the WWE kind) since he was a kid, its considered one of, if not THE MOST, important bases in MMA. Being a good wrestler allows you to control the terms of the fight, when or if it goes to the ground, maintaining dominant position when on the ground. He was an NCAA champion, making him the Heismann winner of that sport. It's relatively easy for a wrestler to pick up a submission defense, and stand up while still a technical skill is in my view the easier of the three main disciplines to pick up. ( wrestling, Jiu Jitsu, striking)
sorry for the long reply. - MidnightReign, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4Have you ever seen those little guys fight? I'm well over light-heavyweight at this point in my life, and the last thing I'd want to do is have a rabid weasel of a dude hanging off my neck. Watch some of those featherweights go at it, man... that's scary *****.
- frequentFlyer, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4I wouldn't tap out, that's for sure.
- 954GeNeRaL, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4Jeremy Horn should be on this list.
- sluggermoore, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4What the hell is that red thing on Matt Riddle's ribs? It looks gross.
- inactive, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4Stephan Bonnar totally does not look like an MMA fighter. http://media.photobucket.com/image/stephan%20bonna ... Just your average whitey corngood
- MaTT2011, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4^^^^^ I'm still trying to see the downside here.............
- jerrolds, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4She would destroy you - kick you into oblivion from the outside, knee you if you ever clinched and get you in an thai plum, or submit you on the ground....
Only way you can possibly win is if you sucker punch her - DickMasterson2, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4Already down, really? Tamdan McCrory, Dustin Hazelett, Joe Lauzon all come to mind without being able to get to the damn site.
- covertbadger, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3You keep going on about NFL. You do know that Brock Lesnar walked out of WWE into the pre-season Vikings team, right? Sure, it didn't work out - but then, most of these guys don't work out in the UFC, either. Mind you, most of the NFL guys that try MMA think it's much, much harder than football. Still, what would they know? They're only the people actually doing it, rather than sniping from behind the safety of a keyboard.
- jerrolds, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3if you pick her up she'll probably lock in a triangle or armbar or something :)
lesnar has been training for a few years now - and he's a monster..as much as i hate to admit - plus his first fight in the UFC mir almost took his leg home with him
i suspect thats how itll be for you - lapointecharles, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3Haha, Darrill Schoonover!
- purkel, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2id be most worried about getting kicked, knee'd in the face, or submitted on the ground.
- diggB, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2It's going to tapout anytime now.
- ru1dt, on 10/23/2009, -1/+3I actually lost a lot of respect for Rampage after all that.
No adult should be that focused on teasing someone else. - Yomoska, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2Arn't you brave
- JigoroKano, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2Brock Lesnar was a NCAA D1 wrestling champion.
Are you a NCAA D1 wrestling champion? - covertbadger, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2"its much much harder, thats why they get the boot from NFL and go to MMA."
And how many of them are doing any better in MMA? Oh that's right, none of them. Other than the four on TUF at the moment, it's basically a procession of embarassing defeats on minor cards. Hell, even in TUF most of them are getting beaten down. Hilarious that you still think you know better than them, though. Perhaps you could also explain it to the increasing number of current NFL players who train MMA rather than traditional training techniques to prepare for the season?
You seem to be ignoring the fact that Lesnar walked right out of the WWE and into the NFL. What's the matter, devastating to your argument? Hell, I'll go one further - Brock Lesnar achieved more in the NFL than any NFL player has thus far managed in MMA. -
