An extreme sport involving people taking an ironing board to a weird location and attempting to iron items of clothing. Some of the most extreme locations include on a mountainside, underwater, while parachuting, in a canoe, while skiing or snowboarding, and while riding a bicycle.
2. Zorbing
Also known as sphereing, this is an enjoyable sport in which you travel in a giant perspex sphere. Zorbing is generally performed on a gentle slope, but can be taken to the extreme, allowing the rider to roll downhill
3. Street Luging
This extreme sport is considered very dangerous and involves riding a streetluge board, or a sled, down paved roads or courses. Originally, adrenaline seekers would luge down hills in the middle of traffic, which made the sport that much more risky.
4. Shrovetide Football
A bizarre game of football that involves 300 people in two teams battling to get the ball to the other end of the pitch by kicking, carrying or throwing the ball. This game originated in Derbyshire, England, and occurs annually on Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday in the town of Ashbourne.
5. Rock Fishing
This popular but dangerous pastime claims many lives each year. This extreme sport can be done with a rod and reel and line, or a line only. It is more popular in Australia and New Zealand due to climate conditions and weather.
6. Bull Riding
Ah, good old Bull Riding. This rodeo sport involves riders trying to stay on the large animal for at least 8 seconds without being bucked off. If you can’t tell by the image, it is very risky and riders are well trained before they even attempt this.
7. Base Jumping
Base jumping is one of the most exhilarating extreme sports you can possibly try. It involves the jumper using either a parachute or a wingsuit when they descend from fixed objects like buildings. The jumps usually happen from altitudes of around 2,000 feet and at that height you can imagine the rush.
8. Kite Jumping
Although it looks like a lot of fun, kite jumping is actually extremely dangerous. It is similar to power kiting but with this you simple jump into the air for brief periods of time and allow the wind to drag you along. The most difficult part about kite jumping (and the most dangerous) is actually in the landing which is said to be hard to control.
9. Free Diving
Another sport listed as 'one of the most dangerous sports in the world'. Free diving involves divers plunging up to 400 feet underwater in a single breath. At the 2001 Free Diving Olympics, 15 free divers had to be rescued because of blackouts by their brains not getting enough oxygen.
10. Cheese Rolling
This crazy sport is an annual event held in England. A round of cheese is rolled down the hill and everyone taking part chases after it. The first person to the bottom wins the cheese. It’s not surprising to see multiple broken legs and other body parts due to the steepness and speed.
11. Rock Jumping
Rock jumping is as crazy and descriptive as it sounds. The ‘art’ of jumping from rock to rock is a new hit with adrenaline junkies. Some jump long distances with 100ft+ drops in between; definitely not one for the faint-hearted. - inactive, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1you know, 'that'...
