  • laplie, on 08/14/2008, -0/+5to get anything else (except gymnastics, swimming, and occasional volleyball), you have to watch some of the other stations. NBC is the "flagship" station so they only show the most popular sports. But CNBC, MSNBC, and USA show some of the less popular sports like weight lifting, badminton, and boxing. All the coverage is still US centric though

    He's a big phenom in NBCs eyes becuase the only emails they get are from the non-silent minority, aged 13-16 girls who want to date Phelps up.

  • EtherGnat, on 08/14/2008, -0/+2It actually seems like they're doing less of the human interest stuff than they did in Sydney. That Olympics seemed like it was an hour of interviews and feel good fluff and then 2 minutes of sports. It was unbearable.

    Or maybe I've just gotten used to it.

    It is a bit repetitive, but then again most people aren't watching 12 hours of Olympic coverage a day either. ::shrug:: I've been relatively happy with the coverage at this Olympics.
