- victor22, on 08/25/2008, -12/+47I, as a Brazilian, am really sad. 60% of the country was watching the game. Congratulantion ***** :(
- Mononuclear, on 08/25/2008, -2/+24Brazil did get the women's gold so Brazil gets one and the US gets one.
- JKGuy16, on 08/25/2008, -6/+18Nice coverage NBC...
One of the major sports at the Olympics, which has one of the most emotional stories of the Olympics, which hasn’t had a medal in 2 decades, who are undefeated in the Olympics and are playing for the gold medal, get bumped to an 18 hour tape delay?
Not only that, but at the same time on CNBC, Universal HD, AND the official Olympic Basketball channel, they are showing a live bronze medal basketball game between two teams which are NOT the U.S. Three channels for the same game, but none for the Men’s Volleyball gold medal match live? So I turned to regular NBC and maybe they’ll come to their senses and show it. Nope, I get tape delayed Mountain Biking.
To say the least I'm pretty pissed I knew the outcome of this match half a day before it was aired on TV. - rhoman23, on 08/25/2008, -5/+15Great come from behind win by the US! One of the better volleyball matches of the Olympics.
- convergent, on 08/25/2008, -2/+10We already did...
- Yookji, on 08/25/2008, -4/+8Congratulantion to the US team indeed.
- inactive, on 08/25/2008, -0/+4What the hell...I don't agree but the same could be said for Americans, lal.
- Bamboolemur, on 08/25/2008, -1/+5Apparently, in addition to the gold medal, the US team gets to avail themselves of the Brazilian female volleyball team!
- Daniel591992, on 08/25/2008, -1/+4Did they say no *****?
- ackbz1, on 08/25/2008, -1/+4"Haw Haw"
-Nelson - ksong12, on 08/25/2008, -1/+4Why so serious?
- Yookji, on 08/25/2008, -1/+3Google *****!
- RyanSell, on 08/25/2008, -0/+2It was probably one of the greatest wins for USA volleyball in a very long time. To beat a team like Brazil, who is the number one team in the world not once but twice (this being the second time. First being for the world champions in Brazil.) is unbelievable.
Congrats to Lloy Ball and Tom Hoff who have been with team for more than ten years. This could be what Men's volleyball needs in the states. - Jrr6415sun, on 08/25/2008, -0/+2today?
- Daniel591992, on 08/25/2008, -3/+5It was a great game, and while I wanted Brazil to win (Brazilians care a lot more about volleyball), I'm American and Brazilian (in Brazil now), so it was a win-win for me either way. Also, Brazil did beat USA for the women's gold, so it's all good.
But really, that American player (can't remember the name) that played really well and scored a ton is incredible. As the Brazilian announcer said, USA played better and deserved to win. - RyanSell, on 08/25/2008, -0/+1Ricardo is def the best setter in the world. I heard that Ricardo got in a fight with Rezende. It also didn't help that Giba was having some shoulder problems. Being from Brazil do u think it's Giba is going to retire??
- lebruf, on 08/25/2008, -0/+1I couldn't be happier for these guys. I had the privilege of attending BYU who won their first NCAA title in 1999, and two more while I was there.
Ryan Millar and Rich Lambourne were on that first title-winning team, and it's so awesome to see them only 9 years later with Olympic Gold. Although I was never good enough to make the team, I did take a Volleyball class (to fulfill a PE requirement) taught by Huch McCutcheon himself. I would've never thought these guys were destined for Olympic Gold a decade later. AWESOME!! - matthewaaron, on 08/25/2008, -1/+2huh?
- hexydes, on 08/25/2008, -1/+2Welcome to the reason why television no longer works in the age of the Internet. They should just close the HD spectrum from network television and turn it into open wireless access. If NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, and the few other sub-networks want to show content, let them buy access directly from cable, satellite, or stream it from the web.
- rodrigo74, on 08/25/2008, -0/+1Nah, Brazil just needs to kick USA's ass on the next world championship and world league.
As a Brazilian I was a bit bummed out, but you know what, it was almost getting _too_ easy for the Brazilian team lately; they would sweep every single tournment, just like the Italians in the 90's and the Cubans and Americans before that. It's good to get the Brazilians pissed off and work hard of the next generation. - dreesemonkey, on 08/25/2008, -0/+1As a crappy volleyball player, I have a man-crush on all these dudes.
- nihility, on 08/25/2008, -0/+1Seriously, this was probably the best story they had once gymnastics and swimming were over. Basketball was more or less in the bag, they could've spent SOME time on volleyball. I guess the scheduling of the games didn't help since the later rounds were all on delay.
- RyanSell, on 08/25/2008, -0/+1Brazil has been the best team in the world for about 6 years it USA turn now!!! Although i will be sad to see Giba go!
- ASSASSYN360, on 08/25/2008, -0/+1AARRRRGGHHH I missed it!
- krekc, on 08/25/2008, -2/+3Great job USA Volleyball all the way around. From beach to indoor they all should be very proud of what they accomplished.
- Gndoab, on 08/25/2008, -0/+1Watch out China, youre next (all we have to do it quintuple our population and we should be on even footing)
- AlexDavis, on 08/25/2008, -0/+1i was so pissed USA won now there gunna be all cocky for 4 years when everyone knows brazil is the best in the world, the only reason the USA won was because the best setter in the world (ricardo) was suspended from the team so they had a backup setter
- life036, on 08/25/2008, -0/+1Thank ***** god, I can't take any more of this inane *****!
- inactive, on 08/25/2008, -1/+1They must be the ones watching mens volleyball.
- livejamie, on 08/25/2008, -1/+1Well I guess I can stop watching it now.
- yalvin, on 08/25/2008, -0/+0I watched match, very tough game, congrats to the U.S ! What i expected was Brazil could level the score on the forth set, so that i could enjoy the game much longer ... lol
- MonexFRAUD, on 09/30/2008, -0/+0You should probably think about investing in gold and silver in these troubled times. Gold and silver can be a good hedge against economic volatility as long as you're not doing a leveraged trade. http://www.monexfraud.com/investment-strategies/bu ... You may wish to invest in the gold ETF (GLD) or the silver ETF (SLV) in a non-margin account. This is the least expensive way to invest. If you feel a need to to take delivery of your metals be extra cautious about who you buy from. Check the Better Business Bureau for complaints, ratings, and adviseries. Also check RipoffReport.com for complaints and read how or if they were handled. At http://www.monexfraud.com all the information you need about Monex Deposit Company is conveniently gathered in one place. Monex is the worst company you can buy precious metals from so do yourself a favor and don't do it. Go to http://www.monexfraud.com and you'll see what I mean!

- superdog87, on 08/25/2008, -7/+7w00t! Great job USA!
- Jrr6415sun, on 08/25/2008, -1/+1It was on when the most people would watch it.. and to close the olympics.. why wouldn't they show one of the most emotional stories of the olympics during prime time? What better way was there to close the olympics? Just deal with it.. is it being delayed 10 hours going to hurt you? no. I'm glad it was on at 7pm and not 9am
- zephyrnug, on 08/25/2008, -3/+31. good for them, they worked really hard and deserved it.
2. this was posted before I even saw the end of the game, so way to ruin it!!! - izaclick, on 08/26/2008, -0/+0I watch them at the stadium. It funny

- jec68, on 08/25/2008, -2/+1They let the retarded on the internet?
- sgtbutterscotch, on 08/25/2008, -2/+1just out of curiosity, since you already ruined this thread anyway, does anyone know how it's possible for a comment to start out with zero diggs, such as souljaboystfu's?
- DeadFox1, on 08/25/2008, -3/+2Some incredible rally's in the third set!!
- jec68, on 08/25/2008, -2/+1I'm glad that the United States won this match. There was just a bit too much intra-team touching coming from the Brazilian team for my tastes.
Also: I am impressed that the US and Brazil could come back with nearly the exact same teams from 2004 and have such a different result. Chalk it up to a small sample size I guess. - JKGuy16, on 08/25/2008, -1/+0Or they could have showed it live AS WELL as on tape delay. Similar to what they did for many other events.
I don't watch recorded sports when I know the result, kinda kills the drama.
The match started at midnight Eastern, not 9am by the way. - sebchabal, on 08/25/2008, -1/+0Go USA!
- qeek, on 08/24/2008, -6/+5That's quite a touching story. Congratulations.
