Make changes...uh, hell no. - Trekhawk, on 12/01/2008, -1/+21Yup, certainly nothing more important that the President should concern himself with.
- slvrbullet87, on 12/02/2008, -0/+19I think Obama should try and pass a law banning himself and any future president from ***** with sports
- wildgilbert, on 12/02/2008, -0/+16The list was created to say "Obama wants playoffs for college football".
Then they went and found 4 more things to call it a list.
Ok, I got it. - inactive, on 12/01/2008, -1/+15Can Obama make the cubs win a world series?
- sirmcdiznuts, on 12/01/2008, -2/+13College Football playoff should change.
- Ceryn1126, on 12/02/2008, -0/+10No one can do that.
- Ghoztt, on 12/02/2008, -0/+9THESE are the CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE that is important enough to people to get to front page? SPORTS? FROM THE U.S. PRESIDENT!?
What, are you people insane? Hello? Economy? Iraq? Imperialism? Oil addiction? War on _______(s)? OK. I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that most Americans are now mindless entertainment consuming drones. - missjb, on 12/01/2008, -1/+10NCAA playoffs FTW!
- thesandbender, on 12/02/2008, -2/+11And here I was thinking Obama should focus on the financial mess we're in. Silly me.
- 3tcp, on 12/02/2008, -1/+7Why the hell would anyone want politicians to get involved in sports? Steroids in baseball was about breaking the law, there is no law against the BCS.
askmen.com = ask some dumb bastards about stuff that they know nothing about - algaeturd, on 12/02/2008, -1/+7Yeah. Totally. Nothing more pressing.
- FENWAYFREAK, on 12/02/2008, -0/+5Separation of sport and state.
- deema1, on 12/02/2008, -0/+5I think taking time off from the worries of a full-on global crisis to focus on sports-fixes is an excellent way to spend his time.
I'm all for being enthusiastic about Obama, but can we please reserve the super-hero status until he actually gets into power and starts proving himself? Being an excellent speaker does not necessarily an excellent world leader make. This mindless adulation is ridiculous. - cubicledrone, on 12/02/2008, -0/+5Hi,
Can we talk about fixing the country now? - cromulent742, on 12/02/2008, -0/+5You win.
- jjohnstn, on 12/02/2008, -0/+4Yes we can!
Oh wait, no. - thatsoccerkid, on 12/02/2008, -0/+4Next article Top 5: Reasons why Obama will fix everything 30% of everytime
- MaHaGoN, on 12/02/2008, -4/+7Buried for 13OOM
- borez, on 12/02/2008, -1/+4Because your new presidents main priority is sports ?
- tanmaker, on 12/02/2008, -3/+6@zoom
Do you even know what you're talking about? There is currently no playoff system for college football. - Mothrog, on 12/02/2008, -0/+3....
Seriously?
This isn't an onion story? - Lionhart, on 12/02/2008, -1/+4Make sideshows illegal imo.
- TheKingOfGames, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2Billy The Goat Can
- zoom1928, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2Division I-AA is now known as the Football Championship Subdivision. It, like every single other division besides I-A, has a playoff. Do you keep-up with football at all? You really shouldn't post about football if you know absolutely nothing about it.
sirmcdiznuts said the playoff should be changed. I simply asked how should it be changed. - rockstar1o9, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2He's a White Sox fan.
- Lionhart, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the NCAA mostly fund itself through tickets and donations?
- doobiebrother, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2I'm fine if he makes a new sport like Obamaball, but he shouldn't have the power to change current sports
- nomonkey, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2Nothing to do with Obama, but #1 on my list is:
Go back to making the olympics every four years. Winter and summer in the same year. It was great. It was a big deal. It mattered.
Now the summer olympics are barely over before the winter olympics start advertising and vice versa. - badqat, on 12/02/2008, -2/+4Wow, ever heard of the FCS, which used to be known as Division I-AA?
Ever heard of Division II?
Ever heard of Division III?
Ever heard of NAIA? - dragzealot, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2I want to see him do something about the referees in the NBA. =P
- lurrker, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2At first I didn't read the word "sport" and had a glimmer of hope. Then I chuckled and thought it must be from "The Onion". I'm disappointed all over again.
- galeninjapan, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2uh.... none of those things are within the power of the president.
Doesn't he have more important things to do anyway? - devophl, on 12/02/2008, -0/+21) baseball in the Olympics - this is unlikely to happen any time soon unless a US city gets the Olympics in the near future. There are only about 5 countries that can field a competitive baseball team which is hardly enough to have an Olympics tournament. Its even worse for softball. We're far more likely to see cricket in the Olympics than baseball
2) expanding funding for amateur sports - a no brainer!
3) lean in IOC to clean up doping - again a no brainer!
4) MLB salary cap - this is unlikely to happen for a lot of reasons. Baseball doesn't need parity right now given its lagging TV ratings. MLB treasures having teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, Mets and Dodgers in the playoffs. The players union is dead set against it. Plus small market teams like Florida, Tampa Bay, and Minnesota have proven they can compete.
5) a college football playoff - if you're a fan of college football, you've been crying for this ever since the bowl coalition was created 15 years ago. But colleges and the conferences control the NCAA and the BCS will likely be around until at least 2016. The reason is money! Most teams just want the bowl revenue and could care less whether they win the game or not. As a result, bowl games are nothing more than glorified exhibition games. - DrewPeacock, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2Are you crazy, or did you just forget your /s?
- cgrado, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2Pour money into sports to allow more people a chance at a secondary education? How about we put that money into their PRIMARY education and fix the ***** schools we see all around this country. I think that would be a much better use of money than allowing more people to go get degrees in subjects that don't matter, play in NCAA Div. VIII football and leave college none the better.
- ADAMWK, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2I think it's just Boomer Sooner...
- pm428606, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2Just the tip I swear.
- ericdano, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1Seriously?? Aren't there problems like........oh, I dunno, Iraq, Economy, bailouts, unemployment, health care, national debt.........to name a FEW that take priority than ***** sports???
- capshew, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1I couldn't have said it better myself (from the comments on the story) :

- d0ug18, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1Dugg for the UH player in the pic for No. 1. Go Warriors!
- sq2shooter, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1NCAA playoff is the only one I care about and it has zero chance of being changed by Obama. Especially since ESPN just wrote a big check to cover the BCS bowls for the next 4 years.
- honeybrass, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1Bring in Blernsball!!
- wrzhydr, on 12/02/2008, -1/+2There's a playoff for the lesser divisions, but not Division I-A.
- badqat, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1By "lesser divisions", you mean teams like Appy State, that kicked Michigan's tail in their own house, right?
- aserer511, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1no one finds it disgusting our president elect is getting more fame and coverage over not his proposed policies, or recent *huge* cabinet announcements, but penchant for sports suggestions?
- pixburgher, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1A pretty stupid list.
First highlight is making an Olympic bid with the "nothing more American" argument. Yeah, the Olympics are all about those "all American" sports, which is why the olympic flag features 13 stripes and 50 stars and the olympic village serves nothing but apple pie.. oh... wait...
Granted I actually would like to see baseball come back but that's because it's got some decent international support with most of the Caribbean and East Asia on board.
But then they go on to imply that sports are a poor kids only avenue out of the ghetto. That's great...
But mainly just the basic idea is stupid. Honestly my main reason for disliking McCain(BEFORE he picked Palin) was the fact that he chaired that idiotic senate baseball committee. Please just keep the government and sports separate. - DaMoonRulz, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1I think the University of Texas is all for it today. Austin Texas just became a blue city.
