Sorry Diggers: No Crossbows Allowed at the Olympics
sports.espn.go.com — The Chinese government will be taking tough security measures when the Olympics begin in 3 ½ weeks. It issued another reminder Monday about fan behavior and what not to bring into Olympic sites...Banned items include guns, ammunition, crossbows, daggers, fireworks, flammable materials, corrosive chemicals and radioactive materials.

HINT: Your flash illuminates objects out to a distance of about 10-20 ft. It's not going to help you get a good shot of the 100m sprint from halfway up the stadium - in fact, it's going to make sure your camera keeps the shutter open for the minimum time, meaning that distant objects will be greatly underexposed. The thousands of flashes going off all at once with the starter's pistol makes for a very pretty effect on the TV coverage, however.
