- inactive, on 09/09/2009, -1/+8Tyson Gay deserves mention here too. Talk about getting overshadowed. It's not his fault Usain Bolt is alive. And hey, he's still the second fastest man in the world.
- jinif, on 09/10/2009, -0/+6Considering how little attention track and field gets, and how few women pay attention to women's sports, it actually makes perfect sense how little "pub she gets"
- charlie55, on 09/10/2009, -0/+5greeks dont care about baseball, mexicans dont watch cricket, americans dont care about track and field. nothing really interesting or amazing or sad about it.
- pondiriver, on 09/10/2009, -1/+5The title is misleading. America's most dominant athlete? Surely you jest, my friend. Does Michael Phelps ring a bell?
- HeDiggMe, on 09/10/2009, -0/+4As a lover of round asses, I'm always in favor of more women's sprint track coverage.
- JustBlogBaby, on 09/10/2009, -2/+6ChuckHayes,
Good call! Tyson Gay is the second fastest man EVER and the fastest in U.S. history! We're talking better than Jesse Owens, Carl Lewis and Maurice Greene, some of the greatest EVER! - longbraker, on 09/10/2009, -0/+3She doesn't even hold the world record in her event; her best times are more than a second slower. People like Phelps and Bolt are literally the best in their sport that the world has ever seen, breaking world records on what seems like a monthly basis. Why should we care about Richards, who is apparently just a relatively good runner in a weak field?
- yehaww, on 09/10/2009, -0/+3Article written by her mother.
- skippy562, on 09/10/2009, -0/+3im more interested in this digg ad: Kimbo Slice vs. a caterpillar. Who would win?
- MothBoy, on 09/10/2009, -0/+3It doesn't help that she competes in possibly the dirtiest sport (cycling gives track a good run for its money), and a sport that most Americans only care about only once every four years.
- SpazAttack5000, on 09/10/2009, -0/+3Track and Field only gets attention when someone breaks a world record. Errr when a man breaks a world record. It's sad but true.
- thezoner, on 09/09/2009, -2/+5It's amazing how little pub she gets.
- jinif, on 09/10/2009, -2/+4It does not get that much attention for the same reason the WNBA does not get that much attention. Because compared to professional men in their fields, these women athletes are not even close to competing at such a high level.
The comparisons to Kobe Bryant and Tiger Woods are silly. They are both close to the top (if not the best) athletes in their respective fields, in the world. As fast as Sanya is, she is slower than even mediocre NCAA men.
She is only dominant because half of the population is not allowed to compete in her events. - Foxprowl, on 09/10/2009, -0/+2http://www.angelfire.com/film/tsss/ss/boring.wav
- NoticeDesign, on 09/10/2009, -0/+1Hate to break it to you spaz, but most people have my opinion. Which is proven by the ratings of female professional sports.
- ericcc, on 09/10/2009, -0/+1"But is having this minor skill worth being so unattractive? That's for the fan to decide."
Actually he looks like a fine young lad. But this article made me think of that line. - jinif, on 09/10/2009, -0/+1No, just being dominating in one event would be fine. Look up the word dominating.
Besides he won 8 gold medals in 8 events, setting world records in 7 or them. That is dominating - yammy1688, on 09/10/2009, -0/+1Not true. Any sport that features the hotness (or gayness of men) of women garner just as much ratings, if not more so, than the male counterpart. figureskating, (rhythmic) gymnastics, TENNIS.
HAHAHA.
It's a sexist world. - monodelasno, on 09/10/2009, -0/+1Nor yours, ***** for brains.
- ThaATrain, on 09/10/2009, -1/+1Bury this, what a dumb title. 49 seconds isn't even good men's high school track does that all the time. Lebron? Phelps?
- pygmy, on 09/10/2009, -1/+1roids.
- monodelasno, on 09/11/2009, -0/+0No one. It's an absurd concept, like saying the worlds smartest person.
- SpazAttack5000, on 09/10/2009, -2/+2Just don't expect anyone to care about your opinion.
- monodelasno, on 09/10/2009, -0/+0"All of this is truly sad when you consider that a sports obsessed nation doesn’t even know the face of its most dominating athlete"
That's a bit presumptuous, don't you think? - monodelasno, on 09/10/2009, -0/+0Then he would be a dominate or preeminent swimmer. He's not dominating over all other athletics. Much like Lance Armstrong might (have been) be considered one of the dominate cylists.
- monodelasno, on 09/10/2009, -1/+1And how is Michael the most dominating? It's a ridiculous claim. To be dominating wouldn't you have to be good at more than just one particular endeavour, right?
- pondiriver, on 09/10/2009, -0/+0So then, who would you consider America's most dominant athlete monodelasno?
- monodelasno, on 09/10/2009, -0/+0Or lesbian fan
- NoticeDesign, on 09/10/2009, -5/+3Good god I wish I could digg you 1000 times. Women's sports are a complete and total waste of time spectator wise. I mean I think it is great that women play sports. I think everyone should participate in as much athletics as possible. Just don't expect me to watch it. Or care.
