- obliviousfool, on 02/07/2009, -5/+348Don't *even* use the word disgraced!
Disgraced?!
The kid displaced Mark Spitz in the pantheon of impossible sporting feats!
Disgraced?!
Now he's disgraced????!!! - emecks, on 02/07/2009, -5/+281I mean, seriously, it's not as if it is going to make him swim any faster is it?
If anything he should be commended for giving his competitors a chance... - karmazon, on 02/07/2009, -31/+252Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed Weed
- Chairboy, on 02/07/2009, -4/+150Disgraced? *****. Buried for crappy editorial in submission text.
- enrico, on 02/07/2009, -2/+124Agreed. Cut the sensationalism.
It's not like he cheated. In the words of Robin Williams: "Weed is not a performance enhancing drug. The only way weed is a performance enhancing drug, is if there is a giant hershey bar at the finish line"
Micheal Phelps is still the best athlete alive. In fact, knowing that he smokes just makes it even more impressive. - mbtria, on 02/07/2009, -2/+80Kelloggs dumped Phelps:
Kellogs has a history of bizarre views on human behaviors. Its founder J.H. Kellog, MD, authored "Plain Facts for Old and Young"; which amongst other failings was an antisex screed. Kellog claimed that he and his wife of 40 years never had sex. That masturbation was suicidal, and to be treated by circumcision, electric shocks, phenol destruction of the clitoris, and just about any other means available. And a lot more gross ugliness.
More examples of Kellogs insane thoughts are available at Project Gutenberg for those interested in seeing the inane and destructive psychopathology displayed by this individual.
http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/19924
It is clear that Kelloggs is not to be trusted with determining the mores of any society. - dizilbdog, on 02/07/2009, -1/+61You know this guy did a bong hit, it's not like he destroyed a country, invaded two sovereign nations has blood on his hand from millions of people leaving a country, putting a country in a recession, torturing people and knowing about, oh wait, that's right marijuana is more evil i forgot i live in America.
- Ghoztt, on 02/07/2009, -4/+63Thank you, Ronaldo Luis Nazário de Lima!
(heh, freak'n awesome name) - Cloned, on 02/07/2009, -0/+55What's funny is that your comment was dugg up by one of my friends, so the whole post is green.
- zioxide, on 02/08/2009, -1/+41It might make him faster if you put a bag of cheetos at the other end of the pool.
- IcyWings8, on 02/07/2009, -1/+38FTA: "There is no need to persecute someone that has faced up to what he has done, having been at the Olympic Games and that has won almost everything that he can in his career," the footballer told reporters.
I don't understand the priorities of this country. Weed is not helping his swimming, so let the man do what he wants. He is not hurting anybody.
I do not smoke, but I would love to see this start a revolution. If people back Phelps (like Ronaldo), this could be the first step towards legalization. - JakeyG14, on 02/07/2009, -3/+36The same Ronaldo who was caught with 3 hookers...who were men.
- yerdaddy, on 02/07/2009, -3/+33Obviously it didn't make him any slower either.
- element247, on 02/08/2009, -0/+30God, that joke was dangerously cheesy.
- rikuansem13, on 02/07/2009, -5/+34Yeah! Who really cares if he smokes pot? I like all the same, if not even more.
- silentdud, on 02/07/2009, -1/+27Michael Phelps is a living example that pot isnt going to make you a useless piece of crap and the soccer moms of the world need to step up in terms of THEIR OWN maturity and realize that their kids will... one day... bong and beer and take a hit in college. Who cares.
- Ineedanap, on 02/07/2009, -0/+26I got the sarcasm impression personally.
- thatkidrich44, on 02/07/2009, -1/+25Marion Jones is "disgraced", Barry Bonds (Now A-Rod) are "disgraced", Ben Johnson is "disgraced" the list goes on and on.
Phelps isn't on that list. "The dumb ass for getting your self photographed"... he is on THAT list. - RawkusVoid, on 02/07/2009, -0/+23I had no intention of reading this article. I saw "disgraced" and my head almost exploded. What a joke this. Let the man be.
- tikal2k, on 02/07/2009, -2/+21Buried for using "disgraced."
- Danltn, on 02/07/2009, -1/+16Telegraph, GTFO the bandwagon.
- Pareidoliatic, on 02/07/2009, -0/+15His medals are not being taken away. Cannabis is not a performance enhancing drug, and he has not tested positive for any banned substance.
- jfts09, on 02/07/2009, -2/+16you mean the "Fat Ronaldo"?
- mushtakrakish, on 02/07/2009, -0/+14who then tried to extort money out of him for being with them. what a bunch of queens!
- dcmjzero, on 02/08/2009, -2/+16mmm, Cheetos. Would that be considered cheeting?
- seanovan, on 02/07/2009, -0/+13Don't let him upset you, he's not real.
- iambrucenolan, on 02/07/2009, -2/+15Ronaldo too takes pot I guess!
- schiavosaurus, on 02/07/2009, -0/+11sounds sarcastic to me?
I kinda laughed, actually. - mizike, on 02/07/2009, -8/+18Digg needs a "Phelps" section so I can keep this ***** off my frontpage. Also swimming fast in order to win pieces of gold doesn't make you a hero, and shouldn't make you a role model. Reserve those titles for those who have earned and deserve them.
negative infinity diggs, here I come! - asus2000, on 02/07/2009, -2/+12Ronaldo got caught cheating on his fiancee with a male prostitute recently.
- BoxAdorable, on 02/07/2009, -0/+10I dug you up for using the word mores correctly.
- alricsca, on 02/07/2009, -0/+10As a society we have to get over this concept of War on this and War on that. Grow up people. It is time we evolve. Legalize, treat and tax.
- twiztidsinz, on 02/07/2009, -12/+21***** off and die you piece of ***** 4chan reject.
- baldr, on 02/07/2009, -1/+10yea his name is pretty sick and he is a damn good footballer.
- Cr00kie, on 02/08/2009, -0/+9Did you guys hear? There is a new strain of marijuana called MP, it will make you feel like you won 8 gold medals and everyone around you talk in Chinese. xD
- supermanly, on 02/07/2009, -1/+10"Digg needs a "Phelps" section so I can keep this ***** off my frontpage. "
I sorta agree here but it could be worse (2008 election season Obama/McCain stories)
"Also swimming fast in order to win pieces of gold doesn't make you a hero, and shouldn't make you a role model."
He's done a ***** more than you can ever dream of. And if you say it like that, nothing is heroic. OK some guy pulled a trigger aimed at people, now he's a hero? What you apparently don't understand is that the journey and hardships faced along the way are more important than the destination. In this case, Phelps worked his ass off, and his story inspires and sets a good example for kids. - BlackOp, on 02/08/2009, -0/+8You must be American? The rest of the world knows who he is.
- Tuft, on 02/07/2009, -0/+8That was almost a century ago... thats like blaming germany's current actions based entirely on its past leader of Hitler.
- avrygoodfrnd, on 02/07/2009, -2/+10How did your mother raise such an idiot?
- diggduggjoe, on 02/07/2009, -0/+8What's crazy is that he would not be in the same trouble, if he was using a beer bong. Pot or booze, what difference does it make? It is his mind and body.
- Ultrace, on 02/07/2009, -1/+8No, but if Tom Cruise commented on how weed would affect someone's ability to act or their status as an actor--a field in which he is accomplished--we would likely listen. The same principal applies here.
- Juan_Bond, on 02/08/2009, -0/+7That would be pretty ***** sweet.
- aqrilik, on 02/07/2009, -0/+7The media is driving me ***** nuts. I don't give a ***** if Phelps smokes pot, and no one else does either. I don't give a ***** if Jessica Simpson gained 15 pounds, and no one else does either.
People should be ashamed of themselves. - billraydrums, on 02/08/2009, -2/+9On the other hand, with Kellogg's and their sugar bombs, it's

Which would you rather be dealing with? - avrygoodfrnd, on 02/07/2009, -2/+9I guess Harriet Tubman is a bad example to little children then- she was breaking the law!!
- lucascgc, on 02/08/2009, -0/+6That's what I was going to say... Only if you're American, because he's probably famous everywhere soccer is popular.
- cmsjustin, on 02/08/2009, -0/+6um...what?
- taos10, on 02/07/2009, -5/+11I agree 100% with Ronaldo and believe everyone who has seen that picture should read this article. Ronaldo is probably the most famous sports athlete of our time, and i am psyched that he said something about this issue.
- normonics, on 02/07/2009, -2/+8FTA: Ronaldo himself was the centre of controversy last year when he was caught in the middle of a drugs and sex scandal with three transvestites after nightclubing in Rio de Janeiro.
lol - timschuit, on 02/07/2009, -3/+9It's amazing. Humans define morals....so one day some ***** decides that doing weed is immoral and makes it illegal. 100 years later we're ***** punishing people and destroying lives for crushing leaves and setting them ablaze because ignorant human pieces of ***** think it's okay to use their freedom and liberty to take away freedoms and liberties of others.
***** anyone who thinks weed should be illegal and doing it should be punishable <<<< and this is coming from someone who's never even done it. -
