- EnderMB, on 11/15/2008, -0/+9It's too bad that they don't like you.
- jackwk, on 11/15/2008, -0/+7I'm certain anyone of those new immigrants would have done a better job with the official 2012 Olympics logo
- poidh, on 11/15/2008, -2/+9=(
- Photokon, on 11/15/2008, -0/+7National pride. Why do you treat your family members better than a stranger?
- CRCulver, on 11/15/2008, -1/+6'Fraid not. When I was in high school, I couldn't find any part-time job. All the menial tasks in my neighbourhood were done either by exploited Mexicans or slighly less exploited Eastern Europeans come over for short-term employment. I would have been happy to wash dishes, mow lawns, or serve diners for some spending money, but it didn't happen.
- EnderMB, on 11/15/2008, -1/+6He is nowhere near fit enough to run the country. Until he comes up with some real policies and stops fuelling the Conservative agenda (more money for bastards; look where that got us) he'll never get into power. Even though I'm not a fan of us as a Prime Minister I think Gordon Brown's here to stay.
- kronix2, on 11/15/2008, -2/+7"I wonder if Mr Cameron would abolish this sham of an event and use the money for better causes"
He'd probably hire more butlers and man-servants.
He's the quintessential British Tory toff: born into privilege, studied at a homosexual boarding school, has no experience of the real world, pretends to like single mothers and poor people, and whose purpose in life is to give more money to bastards while jacking off to a photo of Thatcher. - Barackalypse, on 11/15/2008, -1/+6Its all fun and games while the migrants are working, but then they have lazy entitled children who riot and burn cars complaining how the mainstream culture doesn't accept them (even though they have no desire to assimilate). Ask France about that.
- MrSteamTank, on 11/15/2008, -0/+4Maybe it's because the salaries are too low. So you want to pay a skilled construction worker 5-10 dollars an hour?
Or how about picking oranges for 3-4 dollars an hour, 60 hours a week?
Wow. No wonder nobody wants those kind of jobs. - Ransack, on 11/15/2008, -4/+8The Olympics is a massive scam designed for one purpose only: transfer huge amounts of public funds into the pockets of private business. Oh and you get to watch some amateur sports. (and then pay off the stadium for the next 30 years).
- weeFred, on 11/15/2008, -0/+4If I had to give you an answer I would say because people who have been here for generations have invested more in the country. They've paid for the infrastructure and the education that attracts companies to the UK to do business. I have no problem with skilled immigrants coming to the UK who have skills which we need. But when there are lots of Britons who are available to do these jobs but can't because of cheaper immigrant labour, it means that the people who have invested in this country for years lose out.
- vsujohn2, on 11/15/2008, -0/+4The migrant workers won't, but the toilets they clean for everyone else will be.
- Mshrooms, on 11/15/2008, -1/+5Why is it everytime someone get's angry about migrant workers, that they get labelled a rascist? Or someone who is unwilling to accept other nations? Maybe we should start thinking about the poor and needy in our own countries for once instead of helping other nations who we give countless aid to. If the Western World was a perfect society living in harmony, where no one needed anything from the government then I could understand, but there are millions and million of people in the US, in the EU that need just as much help as the poorer nations, and all this Political Correctness ***** is stalling us helping ourselves.
- inactive, on 11/15/2008, -2/+6We've been dealing with the Quebecois for long enough. You can keep them.
- akchrs, on 11/15/2008, -3/+6In the U.S. most people think of migrant workers as people coming from Mexico. In Britain it's French Canadians. I am chuffed at the bit over this.
- solid12345, on 11/15/2008, -0/+3I'd be scared if someone took America's Jews, our economy went through the roof when we took them in.
- Rocketgeek, on 11/15/2008, -0/+3Hello Mr Middle Class New Labour supporter!
Come live in the dodgier ends of Newham, and see what the real world is like. Try losing your job too, and seeing how life is for the locals.
Step away from your chattering class salon, and if you really could understand real deprivation, you'd be able to empathise with the local indigenous population who are frequently displaced in these situations. - EnderMB, on 11/15/2008, -1/+4At the moment the UK is a ticking time-bomb waiting to go off. Unemployment is hitting new heights with more migrant workers moving in to try and find jobs. I feel sorry not only for those local workers that won't be getting jobs but for those that have moved in, you're probably moving into a country with less jobs than your own.
- nmapper, on 11/15/2008, -0/+3Simple, have you lived in Newham for more then 2 years? Grats you have a job :) Move to the head of the line.
- inactive, on 11/15/2008, -0/+3Slave labour FTW.
- Swivelstick, on 11/15/2008, -0/+3Agreed but it is locals who hire the migrant workers, generally because they are easier to exploit. We all have arsehole relatives.
- 9bpm9, on 11/15/2008, -0/+3Dude, you're the typical brainwashed ***** idiot American.
Mexicans are doing hard jobs that deserve a hard days pay, that MANY Americans do. Are you really trying to tell me that a job being a construction worker is a job a blue collared white guy doesn't want? No, he wants that job because he's going to get paid well, but if you can hire an illegal Mexican for 1/4 of the cost, why hire the American citizen?
Peoples complete lack of any common sense just amazes me every single day. - weeFred, on 11/15/2008, -0/+3I said people have invested for generations.
- cubicledrone, on 11/15/2008, -2/+5That's real funny until four-figures of house payment is due in three days and you've been laid off for four months.
- ivansusanin, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2derka derrr
- 3rdDay, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2Many new migrants to the UK come from Eastern Europe. In the area I live in (SE Scotland) they come for the jobs in electronics, finance and services, particularly healthcare. In the main I have to say they are hard working people who are trying to get ahead and make something of themselves. The UK offers better opportunities than they get in their home countries. I have a lot of respect for them.
When it comes to social concerns, I have a lot more problems with the permanently unemployed scroungers who were born here but refuse to work and only want to live off benefits.
Just my tuppence worth. - inactive, on 11/15/2008, -1/+3People need to take a lesson from China and stop reproducing so damn much. Technology is phasing more jobs out, economies are getting ***** and theres too many damn people!
I have mixed feelings on migrant workers, I mean it's not their fault their own country doesn't have any work for them but at the same time it sucks for the locals that have to watch it happen. - cubicledrone, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2Why are companies entitled to do business in a certain country? What brings about the entitlement? Why does that country's population owe a market to the "native" company? If no profits were created in the first place, does the government still owe them a bailout?
***** works both ways. - solid12345, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2It runs both ways, I mean here in the US why are many immigrants entitled to free healthcare, can drive without a license and not be punished and get away with all sorts of ***** that would cost me privileges and wads of cash?
- inactive, on 11/15/2008, -2/+4>Most of the foreign workers have come from Eastern Europe and the Baltic states.
No kidding - Rocketgeek, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2I'm in Newham and it doesn't work for me.
Then again, I'm not East European, so when I was looking for jobs, I got to see how stuffed the real locals are (and yes, there are plenty who are not scroungers and do want jobs, they just can't compete with East European immigrants who work for slave labour wages). Even the people in the Job Centres are fully aware of what is going on, it's just our political masters don' give a damn. - CRCulver, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2At least wages in Eastern Europe are going up and cost of living remains reasonable. A lot of my friends in Romania working in the UK and Ireland have moved back home now. I hear the same has happened with a lot of Poles.
But I disagree it's getting hard to find a job in the UK. If you want to just make a quick amount of cash before heading off to some beach in a cheap country, you can go to almost any town in Scotland and find a bartending job within hours. - Wrangler76, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2Same with parades, festivals, etc. We should make our lives as lifeless as possible. /s
- solid12345, on 11/15/2008, -1/+2I disagree, I remember a story about a meat processing plant in Arkansas that had to lay off a few dozen immigrant laborers for PR reasons and the next day there was a line a mile long of Americans waiting to put in an application.
- inactive, on 11/15/2008, -0/+1They could use toilets like everyone else,
- rojo21, on 11/15/2008, -2/+3I wonder, daily mail or telegraph?
Could be from the BNP handbook. - Mshrooms, on 11/15/2008, -0/+1Can we blames Thatcher for this too somehow?
- solid12345, on 11/15/2008, -0/+1A few years ago I would have disagreed but seeing the IOC's disgraceful actions to suck up to China, from overlooking the 12 year-old gymnasts to bowing into their censorship demands and covering up their smog mess, I would definitely say it is just a cash scam.
Not to mention the IOC will sue your ass if you even hint at mimicking the Olympic logo, they are more vicious than Disney. - ElChapusero, on 11/15/2008, -1/+2They took our jewwrbs!
- sanman, on 11/15/2008, -0/+1well, this is the new "paradise" that EU has ended up creating
a recipe for unemployment - SmilinChris, on 11/15/2008, -0/+1I think what you MEANT to say was...
"American's wont do these jobs for below minimum wage with absolutely no job security or benefits"
Glad I could help - sanman, on 11/15/2008, -1/+2the EU is all about diluting its member countries, so that it can rule over them more powerfully
migrant workers help in this process - MaXiMiUS, on 11/15/2008, -0/+0http://theytookerjerbs.ytmnd.com/
- SmilinChris, on 11/15/2008, -0/+0No.. but Bush hasn't made it out of office yet...
Just pile it on him. No one will mind. - Galgori, on 11/15/2008, -0/+0From my personal experience, the migrant workers tend to work harder and learn to do jobs that their not qualified for cause they need people to cover these areas. Since the locals think their either "above" this type of work or too lazy. Maybe if they actually valued being able to work..

http://girlsinwetbikini.pornlivenews.com/ - BossKey, on 11/15/2008, -1/+1Immigrants and the poor actually often keep their homes rather spotless. It's all they have.
Especially compared to the moldy pizza box towers, discarded soft drink cans, and dust bunnies littering the homes of many middle-class geeks. -
