- fedak, on 01/24/2009, -0/+52Translation: In Beijing, he didn't have enough time to get laid at the Olympic Village.
- fearlessfx, on 01/24/2009, -1/+45I suspect the London 2012 opener will be pretty bunk... They only way I can see it being more impressive than the Chinese one is if it begins with The Stig driving an Aston Martin, which is on fire, up a ramp and over a pool of sharks with laserbeams on their heads and landing ontop of Amy Winehouse. That would be how one should properly open an olympic games.
- megamod, on 01/23/2009, -1/+37Good for him...he's already pulled off the impossible, why push his luck again?
- souldawg, on 01/23/2009, -0/+20Exactly, have a little fun and enjoy the games rather than stress.
- nofx1510, on 01/23/2009, -1/+20But if Phelps doesn't do it then who will? Rocky? He's to ***** old to fight off them damn commie bastards.
- hexx54, on 01/24/2009, -0/+17His fellow American swimming teammates urged him to give them a chance at one or two
- inactive, on 01/24/2009, -1/+17The greatest amateur boxers only get a shot at one medal per games. Makes them no less dominant.
- wombat767, on 01/24/2009, -0/+15So what you're saying is: When Michael Phelps told us in Beijing that he wouldn't defend all of his gold medals in London, he was telling the truth.
- TheWorm, on 01/24/2009, -0/+10*friggin laserbeams
- cyrix, on 01/24/2009, -0/+9Oh god that is all kinds of ***** awesome.
- inactive, on 01/24/2009, -0/+9good point.
...i just hope the latest batman will be out by then - machine82, on 01/24/2009, -1/+92012 is the end of the world so I would expect not. ;)
- spoon088, on 01/24/2009, -1/+9Kid is probably scared ***** that he'd underperform and have to commit suicide.
- phreak79, on 01/24/2009, -4/+11Not surprising. He'll be getting old in swimming terms by then.
- InfernoX, on 01/24/2009, -2/+8thank god, was tired of hearing about him.
- yomamaisfat, on 01/24/2009, -0/+6Lazy ass!!! *looks for bag of chips as sitting at computer for third hour in a row*
- cran, on 01/24/2009, -0/+5He doesn't have to defend them. They're his for life.
- mytealjacket, on 01/24/2009, -0/+5She's an outlier -- the exception, not the rule. (more than two standard deviations from the mean... for you stats geeks on here).
- DephexTwin, on 01/24/2009, -0/+4***** man, did you see some of the finishes he had? The race where he won by the 0.01 seconds? The one where Jason Lezak basically made the greatest comeback in relay history to give him the gold?
- flyingclutchman, on 01/24/2009, -0/+3yeah...he said this even before he won all 8
- jnadke, on 01/24/2009, -2/+5Calling it luck undermines everything he has worked for.
- inactive, on 01/24/2009, -0/+3Literally drown? From swimming that much?
Isn't that called "training".
I use to be a competitive swimmer. You don't die from swimming too much. - timothycrash01, on 01/24/2009, -2/+5Ya - like Dara Torres? 5 medals in Sydney in 2000 at the age of 33. And still going strong last year at 41 - with 2 silver medals. ;)
The guys only 23. He'll be 27 for the 2012 Olympics which is still prime age for swimmers. - 2Deluxe, on 01/24/2009, -1/+3Right, the pool isn't as deep as Beijing, there won't be so many records made in 2012.
- bigp3rm, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2You rang?
http://www.aintitcool.com/images2009/expendables.j ... - akaakc, on 01/24/2009, -1/+3I disagree; I think there's luck in everything. You can work really, really hard at something...making it more difficult for luck to affect what you're doing, but I still believe that there is always at least a little luck in everything. He did push his luck. He also worked really hard and earned what he achieved. You can have both.
- alwilson, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2He has nothing left to prove.
- KolosoK, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2SOMEONE PHOTOSHOP THIS! :D
- pinkbob, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1The drugs probably can't past the latest dope tests.
- SYMB0LIC, on 01/24/2009, -2/+3Going out at the top of your game. Smart man...
- 2Deluxe, on 01/26/2009, -0/+1I'm pretty sure I didn't say anything about his ability nor mine in my comment, well done for completely missing the point
- pensivewombat, on 01/24/2009, -1/+2Not that Phelps isn't an incredible athlete, but it's kind of ridiculous that there are so many swimming events. Shouldn't they just be fastest from point A to point B regardless of stroke?
- CallCenterVet, on 09/24/2009, -0/+1Good read here: http://olympicblogger.blogspot.com/
- JanSimpson, on 07/31/2009, -0/+1What does he have to prove? Nothing at all - he is already considered the best swimmer of the Planet Earth - leave him alone - let him find his place in this world
- digitul, on 01/24/2009, -3/+4good. im tired of seeing his goofy mug plastered everywhere. he should take his millions and 15 minutes of fame and disappear
- Sakumi, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1Yea I agree. I'm pretty sure the drugs couldn't pass the latest dope tests.
You are really a wise one :p - DJWilsonX, on 01/24/2009, -1/+2i don't care.
- KJSatz, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1Suicide joke, really?
- Izz1011, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1I just hope he doesn't pursue a career in comedy...
Or making video games that "...probably won't focus on swimming..." - publiclurker, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1They paid for the pool for the entire week though.
- brandita, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1There is no way London is going to be able to top Beijing. They don't have the government throwing a ton of money at the Olympics.
- tomarocco, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1In a few years he'll be a worthless alcoholic hocking his medals for another plastic jug of cheap vodka. You just watch.
- pingudownunder, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1I'm sure The Stig has better taste than wanting to land on top of a druggie slapper like Amy Winehouse.
- jrm125, on 01/24/2009, -2/+2Why? Because he's superior in a way you can never be? Sitting behind your computer is the best you have?
Suck it up junior. The guy earned his accolades. - ShoeSh1ne, on 01/24/2009, -0/+0As he shouldn't. Do the ones he knows he can win, that way you still go out on top.
- xtreme23, on 01/24/2009, -0/+0each stroke requires different stamina, timing etc..
