- theotheragentm, on 07/30/2008, -5/+21I don't understand why we (myself included) are so impatient to wait for things to happen. We want to see the movies before they're in theaters and watch the television shows before they air live in our local timezone. Immediate satisfaction is the name of our game. Now we're trying to watch the Olympics before they've started?
- dusingaz, on 07/31/2008, -0/+12SPOILER ALERT
- Shadowhawk22, on 07/31/2008, -1/+12The important aspect of the internet is that we CAN watch it IF we want. Its there for people who want it.
- commitone, on 07/30/2008, -3/+14Wow. Seeing the amount of people involved is pretty mind blowing. All I was thinking was, "this will be incredible to see in HD."
- jgsketch, on 07/30/2008, -3/+13Another site with the video on it. http://www.wjno.com/cc-common/news/sections/newsar ...
How is this not on the front page of digg yet? - racerx8413, on 07/31/2008, -1/+11Many Bothans died to bring us this information.
- feshmania, on 07/30/2008, -10/+18I still don't understand why the opening of every Olympics is an interpretive dance number...here I thought the Olympics was about athletic competition
- ivosilva, on 07/31/2008, -3/+10Well, CENSOR THAT CHINA!
- Night201, on 07/31/2008, -1/+8That's why America is so much in debt. Immediate Satisfaction instead of waiting until one has the money.
- beermaker, on 07/31/2008, -3/+1008 - 08 - 08 !!!!!!!!!
- beermaker, on 07/31/2008, -0/+6Not the Olympics, is just the opening ceremony. That gives a picture of the art and culture of the nation who host the games.
- xrEE, on 07/31/2008, -6/+11Looks incredible, I've always enjoyed the Olympics, watching athletes compete at their peak for gold. It truly is a monumental institution, looking forward to 2012 so I can see it in my home town!
- ilistenisee, on 07/31/2008, -0/+5terrible practice for a public news station to broadcast such video to the public...for shame.
i'd be pissed if im a citizen of the host country - beermaker, on 07/31/2008, -0/+4Modern World Olympics
- blainer0121, on 07/31/2008, -0/+4I think you meant to say country in the world.
- pk7677, on 07/31/2008, -0/+4LOL cats? Digg is all about 4chan now.
- Jauladeoro, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4It was a Korean news show talking about the Olympics being held in China.
- daeus, on 07/31/2008, -0/+4hahaha
- lex0nyc, on 07/31/2008, -1/+5I'm glad I got to see this, because I just know that the American broadcast will feature non-stop inane commentary from network news anchors who will read off boring and distracting talking points through the entire performance.
- lex0nyc, on 07/31/2008, -0/+4You left your dimensional shift key on, man.
- Exekutor, on 07/31/2008, -0/+3"How is this not on the front page of digg yet?"
not enough LOL cats I guess. - Mononuclear, on 07/31/2008, -1/+4When you have the most populous planet in the world and one of the most densely populated it shouldn't be hard to find people.
- radsprack, on 07/31/2008, -0/+3Is that really what they do best? Show leaked videos? The entire media? I doubt it. That may be one of the things the internet does best. I'm pretty sure what the media does best is report on the most inane stories they can instead of keeping up with what really needs attention.
- jamez, on 07/31/2008, -1/+4Correction: I don't [want to] pay $10+ to see a movie I can watch in more comfort at home
- Mononuclear, on 07/31/2008, -0/+3hmm.. I must have been thinking most populous country on the planet and country in the world and somehow ended up with planet in the world...
- pk7677, on 07/31/2008, -1/+4Why is he been dugg down?
- mufffin, on 07/31/2008, -3/+6Meh, this year's Olympics suck. Censorship, Smog, monk massacre...
- daeus, on 07/31/2008, -1/+4F*ck you 0-day FTW yea.
- JayKeaton, on 07/31/2008, -0/+2Because the Chinese paid billions of dollars for that opening ceremony and they don't want people seeing it before they are meant to. It's like having the worlds most expensive film ever made leaked before it goes to the box office.
- peaceninja, on 07/31/2008, -1/+3i was convinced that this was going to be a joke and a firing squad would kill all the dancers. all choreographed of course.
- shlylpf, on 07/31/2008, -0/+2really! I am in Shanghai now you mean I am in danger.
don't be idiot like that - cbdgr, on 07/31/2008, -3/+5i was expecting some mock up thing of people choking on smog.
- inactive, on 07/31/2008, -0/+2"here I thought the Olympics was about athletic competition"
Like synchronized swimming? - kevludlow, on 08/01/2008, -0/+2***** these commercials.
I've posted this before, but feel it's in order again. Has anyone actually taken the time to do the basic algebra on these commercial spots? It was a 2:09 video with a 0:30 commercial. That's a 23% ratio of commercial to advert. Just under 7 minutes of advertising for a 30 minute show. Incidentally near identical to what broadcast TV has.
...EXCEPT, it's only thousandths of the cost to run the ad and a significantly more targeted audience.
Please bury videos on DIGG that have that sort of *****.
/rant - RetepNamenots, on 07/31/2008, -1/+3No, they celebrated at the start of every ancient olympic games.
- kolinkoolface2, on 07/31/2008, -3/+5holy *****...
- Shadowhawk22, on 07/31/2008, -0/+2We're gonna need more mirrors... Cache it!
- linkerjpatrick, on 07/31/2008, -3/+4I'm not even going to click. If it's anything like the crazy stuff they have done in recent Olympics then count me out. Definitely not going to waste my time with such weirdness. Just March the participants in, make the speeches, raise the flags and light the torch and get on with it! Everyone I know hates those stupid interpretive dance thingamabobers!
- shutaro, on 07/31/2008, -0/+1@RetepNamenots: Yeah, with offerings to Zeus... Oh, and a race. Not with interpretive dance and fireworks.
- iamandyb, on 07/31/2008, -1/+2ok, it doesnt really ruin anything. it kind of like a trailer...
- knbchd, on 08/01/2008, -0/+1what a shame indeed; here is the contact info for that TV station:
