- grungegbunny, on 07/25/2008, -5/+44Boo! Way to unite the world.
- dhughes, on 07/25/2008, -2/+35 "accusations of political interference"
The IOC is saying that? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! - SilverBack101, on 07/25/2008, -2/+32Um, that's not why they were banned. They were banned because of politics between the government and the Olympic Committee. RTFA.
- freebird09, on 07/25/2008, -2/+32Not really related but had me laughing.
- BobTheTaco, on 07/25/2008, -4/+28Wait, aren't the Olympics supposed to UNITE the world? Dude, just think about how you'd hate it if YOUR country wasn't in the Olympics!
1980 >.> - Ryan166, on 07/25/2008, -1/+16ya because the US dissolved their Olympic committee and did not reinstate it before the deadline...?
- Discobiscuits, on 07/25/2008, -1/+14Counter-Terrorists Win.
- EtherGnat, on 07/25/2008, -1/+13To be fair the Iraqis would have met the deadline but Bush insisted on no timetables.
- claralyn, on 07/25/2008, -2/+13First the IOC and the Chinese government urging people not to 'politicize' the Olympics over Burma, Tibet, and Darfur and now, this? Banning a team over 'political interference'? What *****.
- SleighBoy, on 07/25/2008, -1/+11I don't bury huffington articles, just ignore them. And will continue to do so until they do not have an ex-RIAA goon as head of their political section.
- homer420032003, on 07/25/2008, -2/+12you are really popular in parties aren't you.
- Panopticism, on 07/25/2008, -4/+12Nobody gives a ***** about your decision.
- levelred, on 07/25/2008, -0/+7i did not know that... thanks
- FaithclubDotNet, on 07/25/2008, -3/+10I think it sucks that people who have trained their entire lives for one moment to shine are denied their moment. I was banned my senior year of soccer because the new coach thought I was too rough of a player. I barely cared about soccer and that still annoys me. This is hideous.
- eeevildictator, on 07/25/2008, -1/+6I read in Time that the Iraqi paralympic team is better than their olympic team, anyway. If they get banned from the paralympics, then I will be outraged.
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -1/+5Sad. They should be allowed to compete, total *****.
- Dotcommer, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4Pot: You're BLACK, Kettle! You always have been! ***** you Kettle!
Kettle: :( - SuperCujo, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4China didn't make the decision. The IOC did.
Put your anger in the proper direction. - shownoregrets, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4shownoregrets (Counter-Terrorist): Acknowledged.
- Jeffler, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4Just actually read the ***** article, I shouldn't base it off of the first few comments. *****, I'm a moron :(
- SuperCujo, on 07/25/2008, -2/+5Hey, you can always blame Americans.
The bonus is that almost always no one argues with you. - felipe41194, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4it was on BBC before it ever hit huffington
- nirvanix, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3***** the Olympics. Really, it's more politics than sport.
- LeeSoong, on 07/25/2008, -4/+7Iraq should be allowed to participate, if only in the spirit of global sportsmanship - to give such a down beaten country something to cheer about.
Sure, the paperwork and politics might not be 'all in order' - but have you seen the condition of the rest of their country ?
I don't know if any Iraq team would win Gold, Sliver, or Bronze -
but politics are like the Special Olympics:
- everyone is a winner when everyone tries their very best... - grungegbunny, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4Iraqis puts the lotion on the skin.
- NaziHatinChimp, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4This is the government we have to wait for to get it's ***** together before we can leave?
- hufflepuff17, on 07/25/2008, -1/+3What the heck man! The Games are suppose to be free of all politics. I feel bad for their athletes that cannot compete now.
- soze1, on 07/25/2008, -1/+3Yeah, why give them something to look forward to. It's not like their countries been in chaos the past couple years/
- santaliqueur, on 07/25/2008, -10/+12We need an "Anti-America" category on Digg, instead of it encompassing the entire site. Anyway, have fun watching your pathetic Maple Leafs lose again this year.
- crapmatic, on 07/25/2008, -1/+3It's that sports candy that Sportacus keeps telling us about.
- napk, on 07/26/2008, -0/+2That's "Democratic" party buddy. As in the party of the people. Sound it out, don't get too lazy now.
- ajamer, on 07/25/2008, -3/+5Video of Iraqi paralympic fencing team
http://video.on.nytimes.com/?fr_story=0c387ec45afd ... - mattlohkamp, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Seriously, we had the 1936 Olympics in Nazi ***** Germany, for chrissake - and now Iraq isn't allowed in on a technicality? Helluva inconsistency...
- Dotcommer, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2of course. I say that to every ***** person I meet. Thats how I met my last girl friend donchaknow.
- WesleyD, on 07/25/2008, -3/+5See, there's this thing called humor...
- gkrat, on 07/25/2008, -1/+3This is *****. The Olympics have become political. they started in greece where WARS were stopped between countries during these events. Now wars are BANNING people from these events.
You'd never think that "ancient times" were more civilized them us. - Pusod, on 07/25/2008, -2/+4The Olympics used to be about the athletes, now it's turned in to a political farce. It is shameful.
- fivo7, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2the world just can't play nice anymore even at the olympics
world.... go to your room, your grounded, - statuescrumble, on 07/25/2008, -2/+3what the ***** are you smoking
- Sroek, on 07/25/2008, -1/+2You're not funny. Stfu.
- Tyrghast, on 07/25/2008, -1/+2The Olympics suck nowadays anyway. They're all on steroids, they tweak them enough to just pass the test.
- daPhoenix, on 07/25/2008, -1/+2"Mission Accomplished."
- leahpee, on 07/25/2008, -1/+2Why, thank you. I think your anal portrays your face quite accurately.
- crapmatic, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1I wonder how this would have played out if Iraq had its own corporate sponsors like Bulova, FedEx, and Nokia. When you play with the big dogs, you've got to bring food to the table.
- gravis86, on 07/25/2008, -2/+3And you should have replied to the person above you...
- Jeffler, on 07/25/2008, -2/+3How the hell did you know I was a Leafs fan? I assume my Epic Fail helps but at the same time I don't think thats the reason.
