- smittie, on 07/30/2008, -1/+34I think it is worth noting that the government of Iraq has responded well to another lesson in what is required to participate in the International community. I applaud Iraq and wish their athletes good luck.
- b04rdb4be, on 07/30/2008, -0/+27It's important, regardless of the number of participants, that Iraq be included this year. It's little steps like this that will continue to contribute to the rebuilding of that nation.
- AJanitor, on 07/29/2008, -1/+20Good luck to Dana Hussain. Represent your country well.
- johnleemk, on 07/30/2008, -0/+10Sports are an important means of unifying the country. Does anyone still remember reports of how Iraqis went wild with joy when they won the Asian Cup in football? (That's soccer to you Americans.) In South Africa people don't remember many of Nelson Mandela's specific policies as President, but they remember his strong show of support for the rugby team, even though rugby was a primarily white sport.
- jawagas, on 07/30/2008, -1/+10Their coach, John Candy.
- icianom, on 07/30/2008, -2/+9"Of course, most of these athletes represent countries that don't have swimming pools."
- Rainemaker, on 07/30/2008, -6/+13"Iraq's locker room will of course be occasioned by a "peace-keeping occupation" of US atheletes to ensure stability among the Iraqi team."
- Jeffler, on 07/30/2008, -0/+6Good stuff. I remember looking like an idiot in the article on here when they were banned, thinking it was political, and since its not, I'm extremely happy they got their ***** together and are it. Good stuff.
- thebaron2, on 07/30/2008, -0/+5Sometimes these things are obvious, JC.
This is one of those times.... dumbass. - speel, on 07/30/2008, -1/+5You are officially a dumb ass.
- Stalks, on 07/30/2008, -0/+4I agree. You really ARE a dumbass!
- swrostmore, on 07/30/2008, -4/+8It's good to see Iraqi women's rights slowly beginning to return to pre-occupation standards.
- supermanly, on 07/30/2008, -2/+5You are correct, sir; there was absolutely no humor in that failed attempt at a joke.
- garg, on 07/30/2008, -0/+2I hope she gets to go because currently only 4 out of the original 7 are going.
- blankoboy, on 07/30/2008, -1/+2I hope she makes a statement - "USA please get out of my country and stop raping it. You don't own Iraq.". That would seriously rule big time. Of course though, US media would not make mention of it (duh!).
- diggit83, on 07/30/2008, -2/+3You would just both be hunted down and killed.....
- swrostmore, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1If we're talking about the same woman, she showed up in Europe asking for assylum.
- str3ama, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1now if only they can find that missing Afghan athlete, how the hell does an Olympic athlete go missing weeks before the actual games.
- Vesuvias, on 07/30/2008, -1/+1Nice touch! COOOOL RUUUNINGS!
- pinchduck, on 07/30/2008, -1/+1The larger problem is that they have to be worried about being blown up to go buy vegetables. We've replaced Ordered Evil with Chaotic Evil and called it Freedom. Yeah.
- srodolff, on 07/30/2008, -8/+8An Iraqi woman, outside, without a veil. No wonder the world is going to hell in a handbasket...
/sarcasm - AlanFang, on 07/30/2008, -4/+3Actually only 2 of the 7 Iraqi athletes are going to be able to go, they didn't resolve the issue fast for the specific sport deadlines for the other five, so they get screwed and can't go.
- somethinspecial, on 07/30/2008, -10/+9At least they won't have to worry about getting slaughtered if they don't win the gold medal.
- BlockedUser, on 07/30/2008, -2/+1Also comments that are made to draw attention to its readers by the disqualification of humor are not only annoying, but are elementary. As if you want to go tell your mommy on me. sir.
- inactive, on 07/30/2008, -5/+3Who are you to decree who is officially a dumb ass?
- Shiftgood, on 07/30/2008, -7/+3i think its things like this that bring about stability to the country. As much so as a guard standing in front of a market with an M16.
- tacojohn, on 07/30/2008, -8/+3That's cool!
- DyceFreak, on 07/30/2008, -9/+4SHEE'S SHOWING SKINNN OHHH NOOOO
- speel, on 07/30/2008, -9/+4I hope she wins a gold metal.
- AAK15, on 07/30/2008, -6/+1Yay 2!
- Wiini, on 07/30/2008, -9/+3Yay! They can follow rules!
- diggit83, on 07/30/2008, -9/+3This is good news for everyone involved. Helps the US save face too....I mean damn what would it look like if we set up leadership that couldn't even follow IOC rules? Why would anyone think they could make bigger decisions...
- mzx639, on 07/30/2008, -10/+2Iraq needs a good bitch slapping.
- BlockedUser, on 07/30/2008, -14/+6Events Include:
The Camel Long Jump
The 100M RPG Hurl
Bobsled Bomb Run
All humor aside, it really is a chance for the Iraqi's to prove to the world that they are an independent democratic people. I believe their suppression and motivation will make them awesome athletes to watch. - leerayIG88, on 07/29/2008, -20/+8I like the article picture, i'd hit it.
- inactive, on 07/30/2008, -27/+2***** Iraq.
