Their training program and hard work of athletes matter.

While it appears to make total sense that genetics is at play here. It's not a scientific conclusion. Can someone point me to any research that shows a gene responsible for this? Cystic Fibrosis is genetic, I can prove it because there is a cystic fibrosis gene.Now what's the gene for increased athletic performance.
Even easier to do .. show me a scientific study that shows inheritance of these phenotypes .. anything! anything is better than coming to a conclusion based on watching TV. There are numerous reason blacks could be overrepresented in sports. Cultural or environmental.
How is it that until last month a Chinese had the world 110m hurdles record? How is it that a tiny European nation Lithuania and also Argentina beat the US basketball team (made up of blacks) in the Olympics?

Yet at the same time, those same people will scoff and decry the more negative attribution that black people, on average, are of lower intelligence. It can not be genetic, you're a racist, they might say.
Do not reply to this comment to show me examples of smart black people among us - I am aware of this (read: "on average").

To be a elite sprinter, you need to be to be blessed with certain fast-twitch muscles that allow you to go fast. It has already been noted that 99% of the top 500 times in the 100 meter are held by sprinters of West African descent (google - Bengt Saltin, director of the Copenhagen Muscle Research Center). Clearly these people have some of these genetic traits.
This goes well beyond just sprinting. It is noted that East Africans (and their descendants) have the traits to be distance runners. White Europeans, especially from the Scandinavian region have dominated upper body strength sports (like hammer throw, etc). It goes on and on. - macaddct1984, on 06/30/2008, -3/+6Pssh, genetics.
