- philomatic, on 02/08/2009, -6/+83As great as this was, anyone who has been following women's gymnastics knows they both deserved so much more out of the 2008 Olympics. Gymnastics judging is so broken it's not even funny.
- piratearggghhh, on 08/20/2008, -5/+37Shawn and Nastia: From all of us here at home, thank you for making us proud and congratulations!
- LowRentDiggs, on 08/20/2008, -1/+31"Two good friends, one from Parker, Texas, near Dallas, the other from West Des Moines.
Who pushed each other here at the Beijing Olympics to be the best each could be."
How did this guy get hired as a writer? - WiseElben, on 08/20/2008, -0/+24Seriously, I laughed after I read these "sentences":
"Standing against a wall afterward, Li Shanshan seemed so sad. So very sad."
"The score went up moments later: 16.225. First place. A big, big, big smile from Shawn. " - FBDYLVR, on 08/20/2008, -2/+25Finally, they got what they deserved. Looking at all the scores from other events and the heartbreak from the "tie breaker" the other evening from Nastia, its great to see them both smile.
- shawnsonium, on 08/20/2008, -1/+21It was never annoying that my name is also Shawn Johnson, but it soon will be.
"Hi, I'm Shawn Johnson."
"omg!!!1!1 jst like da gymnest chik??? RORFLOLMAO!!!"
"...God dammit." - Judacious, on 08/20/2008, -5/+23Shawn Johnson = HOT
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -3/+16hey at least she's getting medals. this country is full of redneck trash like britney, lindsay, and paris, and it's about time we have better role models.
- leaguerefused, on 08/20/2008, -0/+11Shawn :o
- treas, on 08/20/2008, -3/+14Did you even watch the Vaulting finals? China's athlete landed on her knees ffs, a total calculated loss of .6 points from her execution, and yet she still got a bronze. you really think her performance was better than sacramone's? (I know that's not Nastia, but that's not the point). There is something very wrong in the world of gymnastics scoring, and it's being ousted in these olympic games.
- cnot3, on 08/20/2008, -2/+11*****, from the title and thumbnail I thought this was going to be about Betty White doing gymnastics. That I would like to see... uh, on second thought, no, I wouldn't.
- piratearggghhh, on 08/20/2008, -0/+8I'd like to congratulate Digg also for winning the gold in the jackass event for digging down a compliment to two Olympic champions who are not Michael Phelps. I forgot, only half naked pictures of Michael Phelps is worthy of praise.
- bridow, on 08/20/2008, -2/+9but will they kiss like the europeans?
http://sandraizbasa.com/ - scoottie, on 08/20/2008, -1/+7no pic of Alicia Sacramone? .... buried
- kingjoey52a, on 08/20/2008, -1/+7w00t
- GoatMonkey2112, on 08/20/2008, -0/+6He's probably referring to the tie rules, among other things.
- DesertDude, on 08/20/2008, -5/+11Shawn is the hottest thing ever created. For now at least.
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -2/+8your father? dunno, probably waiting under the bed for you.
- Cybermaul, on 08/20/2008, -0/+6Nastia isn't, she's a legal adult!
- Aldanga, on 08/20/2008, -1/+6Possibly the worst written article about a really awesome story I've ever read.
- Pusod, on 08/20/2008, -6/+11"To watch video using Firefox,
please install Microsoft© Silverlight."
What! That's crazy talk! - inactive, on 08/20/2008, -0/+5pedobear
- GoatMonkey2112, on 08/20/2008, -0/+5America won gymnastics and he's complaining about the scoring there, so if America won boxing also there would obviously be some complaining about that also.
- Pusod, on 08/20/2008, -1/+6that's messed up man!
- IUAndar, on 08/20/2008, -1/+6The boxing judging has been pretty broken as well. Its just the ugliest aspect of the Olympics that always shows up.
- protogenxl, on 08/20/2008, -0/+5Wow Bea Arthur can jump.
- MrSalty, on 08/20/2008, -0/+5Never go to a TV Web site expecting competent writing.
- mrlivingston, on 08/20/2008, -1/+6Was I the only one expecting Bea Arthur on the parallel bars?
- murlox, on 08/20/2008, -2/+7Shawn Johnson's pair of thigh reminds me of Chun-Li. They're huge & muscular.
- xstarsprinklesx, on 08/20/2008, -0/+4I only feel bad when it's clear that it's more the parents' choice than the kid's. But watching Shawn, you know she pushes herself to achieve her own dreams, not someone else's. I don't see anything wrong with that.
- ezki1l, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3finally!
- astronomical, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3I think he's talking about their English, not the content.
- jeffity, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3Seriously. If there's not a bear or head tilting involved, is just unacceptable content.
- Bunnybutt, on 08/20/2008, -1/+4No, actually Headzoo is not the only one that feels bad for young athletes such as Shawn Johnson. I watched an interview with her tonight where she herself admitted that she has not been well mentally and physically for a while now. Her entire life ( since she was 6 years old ) has been gymnastics. The stress and lack of normalcy that these athletes live does takes it toll. Physically, mentally or socially they do lose out.
- iamchewy, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3Why is is being buried? He's saying "Go America!" in Chinese.
- omgsideburns, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3snicker tee hee.
http://www.IHeartShawnJohnson.com - natertots, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3at least she's legal
- smpx, on 08/20/2008, -2/+5Can someone actually show me any legitimate document that says they're not their age, aside from a small newspaper in China?
I mean, if the IOC (which is ran by thousands of non-Chinese officials, a large group of which are American) couldn't find anything, can we get over the "omg omg i'm totally sure they won by cheating!!one!" sore loser bs?
Cheer on your team, but show some sportsmanship. - charlie55, on 08/20/2008, -4/+7is your ass sweet like hers?
- jeffity, on 08/20/2008, -1/+3LOL LOL LOL
Now we just need some cameltoe posts and this'll be just about on par with every other story that mentions gymnastics.
The bear's beat! - HxChris91, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2Comon this is Digg, were you really expecting anything else?
- Izilla, on 08/20/2008, -2/+4Buried.
She's South African, moved here when she was 2 years old. Get facts right before trying to insult. :) - AhniTipesh, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2Yeah I know... its just a bit creepy, though.
- rtmag, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2I'm a student who works for Hy-Vee (a Midwest grocery chain). They sponsored Shawn Johnson because she lives in the same town as company headquarters and shops at their stores. They picked a good athlete to sponsor! (Just thought I'd throw that tidbit out there.)
- astronomical, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2Really? Is small gene pool actually a problem in many places?
- juliustan, on 08/20/2008, -1/+3http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedophilia , stupid.
- philomatic, on 02/08/2009, -0/+2You left out the whole other half of the article:
"Colagiuri awarded He 9.300 and Liukin 9.000, while none of the other five judges scored He's execution higher than one-10th of a point above Liukin, and the Polish judge, for example, had Liukin's execution score two-10ths higher than He's.
Amid the uncertainty and confusion over a complex tiebreak system that few initially understood, Valeri Liukin then accused Australian judges of "consistently" thwarting his daughter's title chances. It is a grievance dating back to 2005 and also aired at last year's world championships in Stuttgart, when Nastia was denied the bars title by just 0.050 while Australian Jill Wright was on the judging panel." - scoottie, on 08/20/2008, -1/+3do you walk with your arms out and her shoulders back in the robot fashion she does?
- jeffity, on 08/20/2008, -1/+3Who's Natasia?
- WSPanic201, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2Yeah my brother told me she always signed up for the special early morning classes before normal school even started just so she can train more at chows.
