- wrmjr, on 08/21/2008, -1/+28These women certainly need to be mentioned in the same breath with Phelps, Bolt, etc. as among the most dominating performances in the Olympics.
- redandgold, on 08/21/2008, -2/+28Congrats girls, well deserved win.
- chuckDontSurf, on 08/21/2008, -1/+23And they'd block it.
- cowninja, on 08/21/2008, -1/+22That was an exciting match. Both China and the US played very well.
- Feanor, on 08/21/2008, -0/+13This was on last night...Live...On National Television...
- sphigel, on 08/21/2008, -0/+12The President showed up during their practice so they wanted to thank him. Maybe for some people meeting the President is still an inspiration. Not everyone is consumed by hatred.
BTW, I disagree with almost everything bush has done. - Feanor, on 08/21/2008, -1/+9From whois.domaintools.com
Visitors by Country:
United States 51.9%
India 7.4%
Great Britain (UK) 6%
Canada 4.6%
China 3.2%
Germany 3.1%
I don't think that 7.4% as the 2nd most visitors when the 1st is at 51.9% qualifies as an "International Site". - epohs, on 08/21/2008, -2/+10How can you defeat a team that has a 7 foot vertical leap?
http://d.yimg.com/a/p/sp/getty/91/fullj.93324440e8 ... - theragu40, on 08/21/2008, -0/+8There's no reason to be an ***** about it. Maybe if enough of your countrymen cared about how your athletes did in the Olympics, your stories could be on the front page too. But you said it yourself - this site's readership is primarily American, so what do you want? 75% of stories on here are related to American news, American politics, or American sports. Why do you even come if it bugs you that much?
- Logal, on 08/21/2008, -2/+10FTA: "May-Treanor/Walsh win with 'Golden' Showers"
- orangysb, on 08/21/2008, -0/+7ONLY leading in 'judged' events?
you mean events like table tennis, badminton, shooting and weightlifting?
plus we could all see with our eyes how the Chinese divers and male gymnasts performed better than the rest, and bear in mind all the judges are from different nations with no relation to China
so please don't insinuate that all the 'judged' events are somehow biased towards them, when they just did better than others and deserved the gold (barring the underage controversy)
bring your prejudice elsewhere - babaganush, on 08/21/2008, -0/+7My mom said this match was reminiscent of a wet t-shirt contest. I didn't mind one bit!
They have yet to lose a set in Olympic Volleyball! Great job girls! - Feanor, on 08/21/2008, -0/+7Stevethegreat - Get over yourself, you are not special. This is a majority American site, hosted in America. I don't have to pretend that this site is International just because people in other countries can view it. If we take a little pride in the fact that we have the worlds best beach volleyball team, who are you to give a *****?
- EtherGnat, on 08/21/2008, -0/+6Yeah, but aside from a few questionable scores they've deserved them. Have you been watching diving, for example? The Chinese are so much better than the other divers it's sad. Every dive is near perfect.
It looks like the USA is going to go home without a medal at all in the sport. Again. American athletes like Greg Louganis used to dominate the sport. ::sigh:: - inactive, on 08/21/2008, -2/+8that was fun to watch them play in the rain. And the volleyball was great too! 8D
- theragu40, on 08/21/2008, -0/+6No, they haven't. Look it up.
- gz2nyc, on 08/21/2008, -2/+7I only saw four bikini-clad girls frolicking in the sand. What volleyball?
- ralphmalph914, on 08/21/2008, -0/+5They want to have babies.
- shmajent, on 08/21/2008, -6/+10I'm a bit confused as to why afterwards they felt the need to thank GWB for his "inspiration." Now far be it from me to deny someone their right to express their thanks, but seeing as how the duo *didn't* fail, I don't know what inspiration GWB could've provided!
- dpb1994, on 08/21/2008, -1/+4Oh... to be an Olympic gold medal in woman's beach volleyball.
- BOFH2, on 08/21/2008, -0/+3I mistakenly while talking about things I like to do related to sports said - I like watersports! - People just looked at me for a second and I had no idea what it meant in some circles. I thought it meant skiing, tubing and wakeboarding.
They explained it after laughing at me for about 10 minutes. - pintomp3, on 08/21/2008, -0/+3four wet bikini-clad girls
- ikickass, on 08/21/2008, -0/+3Image 43 has some ass-groping...
- theragu40, on 08/21/2008, -0/+3Why do you keep calling the US a tribe? It's a country.
- MessiR10, on 08/21/2008, -1/+3
Misty may has a nice arse - theragu40, on 08/21/2008, -0/+2That was being overly rationalistic?
- jserio, on 08/21/2008, -0/+2I admire Phelps as much as anyone but take a look at all other Olympic sports. No other sport (except maybe track and field) allows for the opportunity to win more medals. Volleyball? Each team must compete is NO LESS than 8 matches over a 1.5 weeks to win 1 gold. Gymnastics? They compete in 4 different events for the individual all-around for 1 gold. The Heptathlon? They compete in 4 events for 1 gold? Basketball? 8 games for the gold. Soccer? Tennis? Diving? You can go on and on and on.
Swimming only requires 2 heats (semi finals and finals) for a chance at a medal. What separates Phelps from us mortals is he is gifted and diverse which is why he is able to compete in so many events.
I leave it up to the reader to decide if swimming 2 heats is more work than playing (up to) 24 games of beach volleyball against 8 other teams. - ikickass, on 08/21/2008, -0/+2I'm Canadian and I dugg it up. Good for them, they won.
- inigomntoya, on 08/21/2008, -0/+2FTA: It was the 108th consecutive victory overall and 14th straight at the Olympics for the Americans, who did not lose a SET in either Athens or Beijing.
- Feanor, on 08/21/2008, -0/+2My responses may be tribalistic, but they are not trivial and silly, they are factual. But hey, some people think facts are trivial and silly, so who am I to argue.
- wassim2k, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1Dugg for ass grab on photo 43.
- ATLien74, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1My favorite Olympic sport. I can't look away!
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1But wait Diggers, then they thanked George Bush for his inspiration and thanked him for doing a great job. Oh, no, Digg down these evil neo-con facists!!!
- ZeeZee2k, on 08/21/2008, -1/+2It's going to take them like 50 years to match Phelps' gold medals.
- frankb00th, on 08/22/2008, -0/+1They like to whine constantly as to how they are given a raw deal as we pour billions into their economy. It's a case of national inferiority complex.
I truly hope they get over it, at heart they are fantastic people. - dudefaceguyman, on 08/22/2008, -0/+1Grow the ***** up man. Just because you don't enjoy the sport doesn't make it worthless.
I don't give two ***** about Soccer but I don't bash the people that enjoy watching it. People simply have different interests.
You probably like to watch a bunch of sweaty men kick a spotted ball into a net. While I like to watch a handful of hot sweaty woman bounce up and down while wearing dinky little bikini's. - Jauladeoro, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1Dugg for the accurate title and description that does not contain the words "hot", "sexy", or "babes", for once.
- frankb00th, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1Same here, Canadian, not a big fan of Bush but happy they won. Poor little baby dont get enough attention ? Cry me a river.
- frankb00th, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1stevethegreat wants to complain about something, anything as long as it's anti american. He also has delusions of being smart, that's why he cooks up half assed theories about people being "tribes". People Digg the US because they still represent something that's perceived as better than the hive like mentality of the Chinese.
I've rarely read a more convoluted and deluded series of rationales as to how China is # 1
and that we'd better get used to the new world order. China has a ***** of wheaties to eatand serious cleaning up to do before they spiral themselves into some serious problems. Right now, they are confusing power and money with getting a bunch of jobs that were done by mexicans only 7/8 years ago. Also the gloating that they do aty the thought of "stealing our jobs"
Guess what ? People are going into business like never before and mostly in fileds that cannot be sent overseas such as services.
We've overcome bad economies before and will do so again. ' - didiman, on 08/21/2008, -2/+3China played a lot better than I expected, but in the end the experience of may/walsh prevailed
- EtherGnat, on 08/21/2008, -1/+2The NBC streaming is the best I've seen, at least on a large scale. Get over it.
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1wahaaa??
- Merendino, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1There is a picture in the slideshow... number 39 or 40.... its hot....
- Garbunkel, on 08/21/2008, -1/+2Great Job on putting the communists in their place, freedom and democracy FTW! all while looking good too!
- XenophobicAlien, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1All this get over yourself and your nothing special from someone who calls himself steve (thegreat).. How ironic LOL!
- EtherGnat, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1Just a hint--if you're not going to watch the live broadcasts take the Olympics off your front page feed. It's a lot more appropriate than expecting the rest of us not to talk about something which was show live many hours ago.
- orangysb, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1she definitely did not jump 7-foot high man, it's the angle plus her legs are folded up
wtf, can you imagine jumping straight up over Yao Ming? that's quite impossible for any human man - diulei, on 08/22/2008, -0/+1The argument that China is only winning the gold medal count because of judged events screams of sour grapes. Give credit where it's due. It's not like China judges its own athletes.
