All these people whining the US(and others) got beaten by Chinese younger than them. Take diving where yes, the younger chinese won, and they didn't have to cheat. Gymnasts in China are like all other athletes from China, taken from poor families and then trained until they almost break. The best ones get to compete for China. The choice is; you can refuse, go back to your poor life, get your family in trouble and possibly miss the chance of your life.

We're talking about a country that still uses seals (or fancy stamps) to mark official documents. Very convenient, seeing as there's a seal maker on every street corner who'll duplicate any seal for less than $1.

I'm not a gymnastics expert, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express. - yacks, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1read the article about the chinese girl int he 2000 sydney olympics.. her blog states she was born in 1985.. and asked about it, she confirmed it by stating she was born in the year of the ox (1985-86) her birthdate Jan 20, 1986 making her 14 in 2000. unless she was born in 1974 which makes her look young for her age. or 1998 which would make her 2.

- Wrangler76, on 09/27/2008, -1/+2Chinese gymnasts would train at a very young age even if they do follow the age limit rule. What other sports are like this? There are plenty of dangerous sports. Hell, hockey can be extremely dangerous and I see young kids starting it all the time (and getting hurt). I did gymnastics when I was very young and there were plenty of Canadians willing to train with me. The rule is stupid. Nevertheless, it's still a rule.

Are we to assume that if American runners cheated in 2000, that it should raise suspicions that they cheated in 2008? Give me a break. The "evidence" that they cheated in 2008 is weak. The several newspapers may have used the regional competition records (which also showed them being underage) as a source, which may have been inaccurate in the first place. Also, they provided the old passports with foreign visas on them, the new passports, the birth certificates, etc. So they basically have no way of proving that they are innocent to the eyes of Americans.
Note, that the 20 year old on the team looks like she's 14, yet no one gives half a crap about her. The argument "but they look SO young!" shouldn't apply to Asian females who intensively train in gymnastics. Look at the Japanese team.
Just like I said. There's no hard proof that they cheated in 2008, yet you morons will digg me down anyways.
I want to add that I had the displeasure of watching NBC coverage and commentary on the gymnastics event. I can see why Americans are so brainwashed about this whole affair. The countless number of accusations of biased judging was hilarious as well. - KaiserArny, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1Your anti-American rants are clouding your judgment, because this is not only about the Americans not winning because they cheated , it's about the rest of the world also that is being denied medals because China with 1.5 billion people could not find gymnasts over 16. They absolutely have investigate because of the discrepancies brought on by the Chinese media themselves. It's their own fault if they are being investigated.
