- whiteknives, on 08/05/2008, -0/+10That really sucks.
- wexmajor, on 08/05/2008, -0/+7Do they kill people for trying to use fake tickets there even if they got scammed, like in that episode of Samurai Champloo where everyone got high?
- samoan27, on 08/05/2008, -0/+7Well I hope the one guy can at least sue the travel agency that recommended the site.
- Villagemom, on 08/06/2008, -0/+5You would think that the families would get in for free or almost free, given that without their efforts, there would be no competition.
- Innisskillin, on 08/05/2008, -1/+6Why didn't I think of that?
- inactive, on 08/06/2008, -0/+5Family members can't attend for free? Preposterous.
- CrushedOut, on 08/06/2008, -0/+4Some people have no shame! But lots of imagination.
- chatster, on 08/06/2008, -0/+4that is so upsetting! gives purchasing sites a bad name-how can we trust? even if is authentic looking- I would always call and verify!
- Linake, on 08/07/2008, -0/+3"Hey, is your site legitimate?"
"Um. . .Yep."
"Okay, thanks!" - LoriAngel, on 08/06/2008, -0/+3What a horrible story!
- TheNeptune, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2jonathandyer, I greatly appreciate your comment. I'm really proud you got your associates degree and are starting to make it in the big boy world and your history in corporate fanboyism for things liked Apple, AMD, and The Dark Knight definitely display your qualifications to identify a douche bag.
Now, since you've got your little pat on the back move along. Looking at my clock you should probably be doing some low level tech work somewhere, and we wouldn't want you to lose your job. - Nubhole, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2LaBron Jims is my most enjoyable basketballhoop player
- TheNeptune, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2I think you're forgetting the Olympics is a commercial production charade presented as a national pride event so you'll watch all their ads for days at a time to cheer on some kid that gave their entire childhood in exchange for $0 to swim across the pool.
None of the competitors get paid, the teams that own the rights to the players and thus carry all the risk get no part of all the cash from the attention their stars bring.
The Olympics is really quiet the racket. - flashback99, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Or maybe people should be a bit wiser when they buy tickets? You wouldnt expect a football stadium to pay for your tickets if you didn't buy them through the proper channels or of they were fake? So why should "China" be responsible? simply ludicrous.
- GarryBarker, on 08/06/2008, -2/+4It was China's responsibility to protect these people from being scammed, they should be the ones to pay compensation.
- jserio, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Anyone notice the "Hacker Safe" logo at the bottom?
- TresTriste, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2They make bank with endorsement deals, and each and every one of them has a sponsor to pay for equipment/travel/pocket-money/etc...
Hell, my good friend got 6th in the finals for olympic qualification (didn't even make it to the olympics) and he has a decent sponsor.
PS: the word you were looking for is 'quite' - lofi4life, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Wow,TheNeptune you are an arrogant ego maniac. You gave yourself a pat on the back so move along.
- TheNeptune, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Oh yes, they make BANK.
I'm sure Aaron Peirsol is making tons of money off all his endorsements really. The thing you're forgetting is a lot of our top athletes outside the "big" events are all kids.. and if any of them have any NCAA aspirations there are no endorsements and sponsors.
Actually... you even partially proved my point... THEY, the players in big events, are making bank... people like LeBron James have the Cavaliers to pay him a huge million dollar salary and pay all his travel expenses.... meaning they carry all the liability if he gets injured in the Olympics and stand to gain NOTHING from it.
PS: Considering you only used one period in 4 separate thoughts across 3 "paragraphs" ...nit-picking on small things like that in an otherwise well punctuated, spelled, and thought out comment makes you look like a douche bag and does nothing to improve your pathos. - jonathandyer, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2You're both idiots, not by the points you try to make, but by being total douche bags.
- jack12345678910, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2what makes you think they bribed the IOC. this is an international committee that is watched closely by everyone, its like bribing the nobel prize or something.
- zeblith, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Doubtful. If I recommended that you jump off of a bridge, which seems like a perfectly reasonable suggestion, I don't think you'd get much from suing me afterwards.
Unless the agency was part of the scam, you'd have a hard time getting anything out of them. They're just victims on a different level. - sicapitan, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2That's the dumbest thing anyone's ever said.
- Ragzouken, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1""" "It's not the money," said Moriarity ... "It's that I planned for two years for this trip, __spent tens of thousands of dollars__ to be there, spent vacation time, and now instead of packing my camera for the opening ceremony all I can do is go there and read a newspaper." """

I'm not saying any of these people deserved to get scammed, but if you fell for that site, you are a complete idiot. It's rife with grammatical errors and provides contradicting information- one page says they've been around since 2007, another 2002, and a separate page says they have offices in London, New York, and Sydney yet their contact information is for an office in Arizona. - proficient, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1That is quite saddening.
But seriously; think about it - those that have kin competing in events are few in number. They should at least be given discounted tickets or tickets paid for by their respective country. - zeblith, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1It's not about the money. It's about the metric ***** of money.
- erreur, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1un f**kin believable that family members have to buy tickets, and then aren't given free comps after the Olympic people find out about this.....completely ridiculous. The whole thing turns me off so badly this year that I won't be bothering to watch any of it....
neauseating - DeathJux, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1Just fyi, underscores make poor emphasis marks... use *asterisks* or CAPS (sparingly) or something.
- inactive, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1haha, pwned
- Harlot, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1Really sucks that people got scammed by this.

US - TheNeptune, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1Which means what?
They respond to their citizens the day of a natural disaster nobody could predict?
In contrast to a free country with rights and a strong government that empowers the people... then shows up 4 days late to a natural disaster that was tracked for days in national media?
I mean, yeah China isn't a great country.. but show that you're capable of doing more than repeating what the media tells you. I mean, don't do that, duct tape your windows with plastic and duck under a desk in the event of a Soviet strike. - inactive, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1your comment is a turn off.
- inactive, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1totally!
- havocjaw, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1Just a scam my friend.
A trap would have them being kidnapped and ransomed. - toekneebullard, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1Wait a minute. Your kid gets into the olympics and they don't give you a ticket? That's ***** up.
- dankman, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1Stop getting high. You are not making any sense at alll.
- havocjaw, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1The parents do not get free admission tickets?
- inactive, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1That's tragic. Really heart-breaking.
- amorrise, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1Your grandpa would fall for that site.
- jack12345678910, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1yea, if you investigate closely, you can always see that its fake, but upon first glance, it is pretty legit looking. the list of places are very comprehensive etc. but if i were to put down 3500 for something, i'd check them out. but he is an old doctor, he probably doesnt even use internet much.
- WRXFiles, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1"I am going to have to tell my son next week that we will not be able to go to the Olympics basketball game to cheer his stars, Kobe, LaBron ... that I had promised to take him to," he said. "Telling him this is going to be harder for me than losing the money."
It sucks that these people fell for a scam - stipulated. But I am having a hard time building up much sympathy for what sounds like a pretty spoiled kid... - amorrise, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1Wow, no free admission for parents? The parents don't get free tickets? No Free tickets for the families of those who compete? They really don't get free tickets? I can't believe they don't get free tickets.
Well, everybody else got to ask. - Bravesguy18, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0"You just don't get it, Scott. Do you?... You don't."
- Kanten, on 08/07/2008, -1/+1You're forgetting this is China.
- TheOtherOne135, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Especially when you're talking about actual minors . . .
- Mrhammy, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0scams suck but everyone pays to get in. or people would sell family tickets. buyer beware
- inactive, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0SEE!!! Even MORE proof that Chinese Olympics 2008 is the MOST popular in history. Sold out. All sold out. We need to have more people NOT watch on TV because it will save the broadcasting strength for the actual fans that DO watch. HAHAHHAHA, China = POWER!!!!!11
- inactive, on 08/07/2008, -1/+1The people who got scammed the most are the regular 'ole Chinese folks who had to stop working for two months before the games to clean up the air, and the folks who had their houses knocked down without reimbursement to build all this crap to impress foreigners.
- inactive, on 08/07/2008, -1/+1Will the Chinese gov step up? We shall see...
