- jturbo, on 10/15/2009, -4/+53The bending symbolizes the amazing Canadian postal system
- jrm125, on 10/15/2009, -2/+42Reminds me of when you lay a coin on a train track and it gets squished.
- Winkythecat, on 10/15/2009, -1/+33Wavy Lays anyone? Delicious.
- biofriendlyblog, on 10/15/2009, -8/+35Pretty cool!
- inactive, on 10/15/2009, -7/+31Love them. Love'm.
- end3rthe3rd, on 10/15/2009, -0/+23It looks like plastic put in the microwave for too long.
- cmallinson, on 10/15/2009, -0/+21You can stay in my basement. $2000 per night. Don't expect breakfast.
- vestlandsfanden, on 10/15/2009, -1/+212016 Olympics in Rio = golden thong-ass medals
- missinglink, on 10/15/2009, -1/+21London 2012 still wins Gold in the Olympic Graphics event for their "Lisa Simpson Performing Fellatio" logo http://blog.case.edu/james.chang/2007/06/06/2012Lo ...
- mwtapp, on 10/15/2009, -5/+23Not your typical olympic medal design, but I am a fan.
- DPDish12, on 10/15/2009, -1/+18Yeah because Phelps will be swimming down the ***** Giant Slalom hill, you idiot.
- DeadlyAlpaca, on 10/15/2009, -0/+15I actually really like the wavy surface.
- Cyriak, on 10/15/2009, -0/+13Dugg because they were all on one pretty well-designed flash applet.
- AnalogCamera, on 10/15/2009, -0/+13Great design, cool graphics... could use less warping though.
- thisismydigg, on 10/15/2009, -1/+13the day they make the thundercats logo on the gold. I will become a professional athlete.
- v4vishal, on 10/15/2009, -0/+12Dugg for the braille lettering in the last photo. Didn't know they had it on Olympic medals.
- inactive, on 10/15/2009, -9/+20That's hot.
- clippclop, on 10/15/2009, -0/+11Maybe if he learns to swim in snow...
- Dersuk, on 10/15/2009, -0/+11He's swimming in the winter olympics?
- Tollboi, on 10/15/2009, -0/+9That is he paraolympic medal, because some of the participants are blind. Got to make sure someone is not slipping them a bronze when they are owed a gold.
- TsuruchiBrian, on 10/15/2009, -2/+11My favorite design so far has been the Torino donut style Olympic medals.

Mmmmmm..... donuts...... - dsenman, on 10/15/2009, -5/+13Those look amazing! I've held an Olympic gold medal before, and these are way cooler.
(would not tell my friend who won it, though...) - cramd, on 10/15/2009, -1/+9I am going to rent out the space under my desk at my office. If George can sleep under there so can you.
- Jules0, on 10/15/2009, -3/+10absolutely brilliant. sure, some people will have a field day making fun of the undulated shape and others will stab their eyes out because it's "not traditional", but this is the FIRST time I've seen a close up of a medal and thought "damn, I really wish I could win myself one of these".
- somnus, on 10/15/2009, -1/+8Rolling my eyes at the first nations/native/aboriginal designs being used yet again, as if that's the only thing Vancouver has to offer. Such a small part of our culture, significant as it may be, doesn't deserve to take over the many amazing things Vancouver is known for.
Overall though, very proud of the design. - getjustin, on 10/15/2009, -0/+6Dugg for Braille on the Paralympic medals. Nice touch.
- purkel, on 10/15/2009, -1/+6I like the design & artwork without the wavy and bent metal.
- lerkgick, on 10/15/2009, -0/+5Great design ...
- TMFinept, on 10/15/2009, -0/+5Quatchi is getting angry. You wouldn't like him when he's angry...
- quinzee, on 10/15/2009, -2/+7OH CANADA! hopefully by some divine act, i can make it to vancouver this winter
- stuffradio, on 10/15/2009, -0/+4You can come watch me post hateful things on Digg for $2000/hour.
- bodegit, on 10/15/2009, -0/+4I hear speed skating is pretty easy to get good at.
- choopie911, on 10/15/2009, -0/+4This is what the mascots/ branding should have been more like. Instead we have mascots that look like they just got here from Japan.
- choopie911, on 10/15/2009, -0/+4I don't like Quatchi anyways, tell him I'll fight him
- ChiffX, on 10/15/2009, -0/+3you best be trollin.
- SweetDaddyD, on 10/15/2009, -0/+3They used to be a big ol chunk of solid gold many moons ago. Now they are 6 grams of gold plating.
- stuffradio, on 10/15/2009, -1/+4That doesn't prevent them from writing Gold on a Bronze medal :)
- stuffradio, on 10/15/2009, -1/+4Bet you can't eat just one.
- sebconn, on 10/16/2009, -0/+3"They're"
- Bakitus, on 10/15/2009, -1/+4It's for the Paralympics medals. The round ones are Olympics, and the square-ish ones are Paralympics.
- hayden.evans, on 10/15/2009, -6/+9I like em
- stuffradio, on 10/16/2009, -0/+3It's the stopping and not wiping out that becomes the hard part
- graemee, on 10/15/2009, -0/+2Sorry, but if you bothered to read the sidebar you would read that they are plated with 6g of gold. Which is $230.35 CAD at current prices.
- UselessTrivia, on 10/15/2009, -0/+2I'm well aware. The olympic medal standards are that a gold medal must be at least 3mm thick and contain at least 6 grams of gold. Beijing medals contained somewhat more than 6g and the rumors are that vancouver medals will as well.
And they have to make quite a few of these plus pay for the design and crafting, so I maintain that they're spending a pretty good chunk of change on these medals. - digitalArtform, on 10/15/2009, -0/+2sigh
http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2008/03/28/arts ... - digitalArtform, on 10/15/2009, -4/+6Hey, man! I heard you won the gold! Can I see it?
Um, yeah. It's no big deal, really.
No, c'mon! Let me see it!
Fine. Here.
Holy crap-- is it supposed to be like that?
You know what? Just forget it. I don't want to talk about it. - UselessTrivia, on 10/15/2009, -0/+2Kudos to Vancouver for forking out for the extra heavy gold, though. That's certainly not cheap when gold is over a thousand dollars an ounce.
- Linake, on 10/15/2009, -0/+2I don't know why anyone dugg you down. You're exactly right.
