- webcure, on 10/22/2007, -21/+4Why do these kids want to blow up their schools and shoot their classmates?
- shadus, on 10/22/2007, -6/+72Because they're sick of being brutalized by the ***** with no brain. I don't have any problem relating to them and understanding why they might want to kill people... if you get beat enough and no one is willing to help you and even when you try to fight back more people just hold you down... you eventually get to the point where you feel like your only option left is to kill them and yourself... where you really don't see any value in yourself or your future, all you see is the pain and suffering you endure everyday.
You want to cut school shootings and bomb scares from students down 90%? End the bullying. End the protection of the bullies by school administrators because they can't afford to have their star athlete suspended during the big game. End the protection of bullies by school administrators because their dad is a major contributor to the school and on the school board and he wouldn't like it if his son got in trouble.
I was brutalized at school. I was beaten severely on an almost daily basis for 4 years... had I not changed schools when i would have snapped long before the next year ended and having grown up on a farm shooting guns my entire life and having access to real dynamite for stump removal and pond digging, it would have made columbine look like a couple kids who were upset about a bad test score.
It's been over 10 years since I graduated and to this day, with all the psych council I've received, I hate the people who did that to me. I hate the people who protected them because they were on the football team. I hate the school. I have scars mentally and physically that will never heal, that can never be fixed, and most people will never understand the kind of agony I went through.
That being said... to anyone out there in the same situation, just hang in there. Run if you can-- change schools and destroy the first person to try to pick on you at the new school... yah it'll get you some time in suspension but you will never get in another fight at the new school again, if you can't do that fight back even if it costs you, make them pay for every hit-- nuts, throat, solar plexus, ear clap, nose, elbows and knees inflict the most damage, hunt them down one at a time if they gang up, if you're under 18 goto the police and report them every time you get attacked, and get your parents to help you press charges or if you're 18 do it yourself. Get some psych help and remember it does get better the day you graduate... you'll never suffer like that again, you'll never be tortured mentally or physically again, and it'll be over permanently and you can enjoy watching them founder and become losers for the rest of their lives while you excel. Those assholes aren't worth spending your life in jail or dying over, you're better than them, give life some time to prove that.- BenitoMussolini, on 10/22/2007, -25/+1Summary: "destroy the first person to try to pick on you at the new school"
- vault, on 10/21/2007, -1/+22Damn shadus...that's quite a story, sorry to hear that.
- psyjoniz, on 10/21/2007, -1/+11very very well put. emotionally charged and true. and i identify with your story so much though i went through 5 highschools in 3 years. i believe the worst was when a gang of black kids beat the ***** out of me on a school bus while the driver watched, helpless. and when i say gang, i mean a kid in school who was part of a gang had some of his gang members get on the bus on the way to school with him. the second worst was having the star QB throw me down a flight of stairs. i did break his nose and send him to the hospital (right then and there) but *****, that dumb piece of ***** didn't know me from a hole in the wall - asshats like that deserve to have a ligament ripped out. i'm just glad he's sitting around wondering why his life fell apart after he didn't make it big playing dumbassball. i'm glad i stuck to studying and have an actual career now. its too bad i still, to this day, look back with such negativity. pain. loneliness. rage.
but i never considered it ok to hurt people for no reason because i had been hurt for no reason (see: i'm not going to be so weak as to let this kinda thing set me off). i also wouldn't be so stupid enough to believe that a gunpowdered filled sharpie would do anything but put a big shining spotlight on my ignorance of creating an effective bomb. i dunno. this kid sounds like he just needed some attention from mommy. - stealthc, on 10/21/2007, -1/+8I can't digg shadus up enough. I was never subject to that degree of brutality, but school kids are RUTHLESS. The protection of bullies needs to end. If by his description high school sounds a lot like prison (kick someone's ass the first day), it can be a lot like prison. An anarchy of brutes governed distantly by the authority figures. Teachers don't see even 10% of what really goes on. You might look like a wuss now, but REPORT the people who ***** with you. It will keep you safer in the long run, and then you'll graduate, and then you get to go on to college and/or a real job, while they get to sprout beer bellies and illegitimate children. But being an adult, you'll probably just pity them at that point.
- faskill, on 10/22/2007, -4/+1I can't Digg him down enough. People are ruthless... children are people, therefore children are ruthless. People will always pick on the weak. I was picked on. I grew stronger and smarter. Dominance and authoriaty are neccessities that forges something from the nothings.
Perhaps if people were taught how to overcome adversities instead of running to someone bigger to protect them they could fair better on their own.

- ubergeek09, on 10/22/2007, -2/+0Although people may be led to do this by the way they are treated, that doesn't give them any excuse to go to their school and kill people. Many times these people end up killing people who never even did anything to the shooter, innocent people die. It's really a very selfish thing to do to go to school and kill a bunch of people, who have their entire lives ahead of them.
- williamdyer, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1The bullies will only grow up to be steroid pumped cops. Better to put them down like rabid dogs.

- asauterChicago, on 10/22/2007, -1/+69Oh come on, this is crap. Gunpowder, in a plastic casing with a fuse attached, would at best, produce a very bright hot flash. Maybe some burns. This is just another sensationalize thing for the main stream media to pick up in order to scare soccer moms. Next schools will wiping down pens for explosive residue.
I mean, a sharpy? A sharpy of all things?? Not a glass bottle, small steel pipe, a freaking sharpy with a fuse attached?? - krnldmp, on 10/21/2007, -1/+2You safely could. That's the point of the rant. Maybe get a molten plastic burn if you were stupid enough to keep holding too long after it went off.
- wiifm69, on 10/21/2007, -0/+19Sensationalist headline for sure. Should read: "drop kick school kid makes homemade sparkler"
Anyway, in order to make a pipe bomb, you need a PIPE - GawtMilk, on 10/22/2007, -0/+3"Sure Mrs. Lame, just let me get my lighter, heh, heh, heh"
That was ***** hilarious. - VitriolAndAngst, on 10/22/2007, -0/+4I used to make the same stuff when I was a kid.
Why do these reactionary assholes have to justify their jobs by slamming little kids who play with stuff that blows up? Who the hell is going to become a chemist anymore? A pen with "gunpowder" or just as likely crap emptied out of a firecracker is a lot less dangerous than a can of hair spray. Get a ***** grip.
Like what did any of these security guard assholes do as kids? I'm willing to bet that half of them would be labelled a "terrorist" if someone knew of their recreational activities. What a bunch of reactionary, up-tight ***** fascists!

- Rooster99, on 10/22/2007, -1/+24Wow! Im going to assume that most of the fireworks that me and a lot of people my age played with back in the day was much more dangerous that a pen filled with gunpowder. Im also going assume (as I am not a pyro-technician) that a pen does not have the structural integrity to create the pressure required to cause a big explosion. At best this thing probably would have done a little flash, a bang that sounds like a really loud clap and a lot of smoke.
- gormenghast, on 10/22/2007, -1/+27Pens outlawed
- shortarabguy, on 10/21/2007, -0/+6Heh, sharpies were already banned from my middle school several years ago when they were worried that their new buildings would get defaced. It didn't really occur to them that it was the high school kids who were vandalizing the schools on the weekends when the school was unlocked and completely unattended.
Last I heard, they banned white out ink as well...- streetr8cer13, on 10/21/2007, -0/+3the white out was banned in middle school for me as well when i was younger they had said it was illegal but i think they didnt want it in the carpets or kids sniffing it idk

- AUmrysh, on 10/22/2007, -1/+4I'm glad I did stupid ***** like bring knives to school back before all this crazyness happened. I brought an uber sharp utility knife to elementary school in 5th grade and the principal took it from me and gave it to my mom. I also made threats to vandalize the school. Back then, I was just facing in school suspension. Faking crying always gets 'em :D
That pen wouldn't do much, maybe pop in half and catch on fire at best. I hardly see how there is anything illegal or dangerous about a sharpie filled with black powder. They should light it and see what kind of damage it could really do in a lab environment, I think they would be disappointed. - TyR88, on 10/21/2007, -0/+6More like a flashbomb if you ask me. Would be cool to have in class though. Just stand up in the middle of the class throw it on the ground and *POOF* and 5sec later you've successfully entered the ventilation system and nobody will never know how you got away from that pop quiz. Theeee End *martin sargent voice*

- k1down, on 10/22/2007, -1/+2Some kid did this exact thing at my high school. He was showing it to someone and supposedly they lit it, and the kid held it and blew his hand to hell. It was a ballpoint pen full of flash powder. I can vouch though, I definitely heard it, and it definitely blew his hand to hell, but it was flash powder. People messed with him a lot, but I don't know of anybody ever really kicking his ass much. Perhaps some people just have a propensity for snapping?
- accessviolation, on 10/22/2007, -0/+2Big ***** deal. I've seen cafeteria food more dangerous. No one could be dumb enough to threaten someone with a firecracker. My guess is the school official, police, and media are blowing this all out of proportion. Charge the kid with disturbing the peace and whatever you charge people with for making false bomb threats.

I'm not entirely sure what he could've used that for. I doubt it'd do much damage, unless he used it against a person.
