Maybe I'm just lucky, but I've been with my wife for about 15 years, and our marriage isn't anything like this. We make roughly the same amount of money, we share interests, and we're good friends. We make financial decisions together. We enjoy each other and our lives. And yes, we have a child, for those who will make the stupid-ass "well it all changes when you have kids!" accusation.

    I think the people who look at marriage the way the people who Digg links like this do are just desperate, lonely people who don't have the courage and/or the ability to make a relationship work. And I feel nothing but pity for them.

      However, you've gotta see that there's some truth in the stereotype. Most of my friends make about the same amount of money, but we single ones can go on vacations, buy gear and videogames, and eat out whenever we want. The married ones have allowances and have to call their wives before they go out to eat lunch to see if their wife also splurged that day (and I'm not kidding about that).
      So, let us lonely single guys have a little laugh about what we see going on around us while we hope for something different.
