Ice Cream Truck Driver Arrested for Selling Marijuana

wzzm13.com — Southwestern Michigan authorities say tips led to the arrest of an ice cream truck operator who was selling marijuana along with his frozen desserts.

Now that the movie has been out for 25 years or so, I think all the cops have seen it and its time to get a new idea.

  • brainovermind, on 10/11/2007, -1/+33I worked in construction to help put myself through school years ago and it was common knowledge amongst workers that the food/ice cream vans all sold drugs. If you ever see any at large jobs, there are always two runs at the vans. The first is for the food/drinks, as a few wait or linger for a few minutes. Then the second wave hits. This was common in a couple states I worked in. I've also known ice cream trucks to frequent raves in California during the early 90s for obvious reasons. You didn't really think they made a living off of ice cream did you? I'm old.

They'll be in the most run-down of places at night selling "ice cream" to adults. And in the winter when it's 40F out. Apparently they've ran out of Common Sense awhile ago.

    Not to be a buzz kill, but clearly the guy couldn't afford child support on just an ice cream person's salary. He was 36, not like it was a summer fun job. Poor bastard is stuck in prison, his child doesn't get support or free ice cream, and people go without their medicine. Justice? Who wins?

Your best bet would be to simply say "Are you going to charge me with something or am I free to go" and never directly answer the question. The cop will get what your poking at, but it will not give him probable cause to search your car.         Cop asks to search your car. You say no. He says, "You trying to hide something?" You say no. End of story. Your refusal does not give probable cause.

        Now, you're in your car and he smells weed. Exigent circumstances (Carroll Rule) says he can search your car without a warrant.

        Same goes for them wanting to come in your house. we can talk outside. While I have nothing to hide, I do value my rights and want to stick up for them. You should too.

Its funny but I bet you if we legalized weed today, half of the people in jails would be released and the "anti depressant" drug companies would go out of business. But you know, weed = murder and years of government research means more then personal experience.

Had tons of videos, including the guy who love-tapped his bud w/ a crowbar to the head, the bangers torching a crack-head's car, the McDonald-esque drive thru service. Cops didn't care. After 3 tears, got a new lieutenant who happened to be friends w/ a fireman on our street. The crackheads were all gone w/in 30 days. The ICM's still around, got himself a new van w/ cool flame graphics. Good thing he's not a pot dealer. ;-)

Where I live (in an upper-class small city in California's bay area) the local ice cream man was arrested for selling REAL AK-47'S OUT OF THE ICE CREAM TRUCK. The story didn't even make it to any major news casts. NO JOKE! He sold various weapons and I believe he sold marijuana too.

At the time my neighbors had a 7yo. When the truck came by I'd step out and walk with him to get his ice cream and walk him home... never trusted the ice cream man.
