- monkeywaffles, on 10/20/2007, -6/+19That's totally messed up.
- jggr, on 10/25/2007, -0/+35I'm sure that's what the deer thought too. Poor guy was probably training for the deer triathlon and these fishermen just ruined the training regiment.
/It's ok though.... The deer really needed to work on his cycling anyway. Deer are naturally weak cyclists... little known fact.- Lagstorm, on 10/25/2007, -9/+1She thinks i'm CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE!!!!!
- jacquesm, on 10/20/2007, -0/+5it's what you get when you start messing around with the wrong lures / whistles...
- brundlefly76, on 10/21/2007, -0/+2Thats really a great story until the ironic goodbye:
"Before we left, I looked him in the eye and said 'See you on opening day; payback time."

- mclovin, on 10/26/2007, -5/+120I once caught a deer THIIIIS BIIIIG [stretches out arms]
- eschompthis, on 10/20/2007, -10/+1one word shrinkage
- epuiatti, on 10/21/2007, -4/+3May i ask why this is funny? (Without being slandered for stupid comments)
- MtheoryX, on 10/22/2007, -0/+11This is typically how you tell a "fishing story", stretching out of the arms is mandatory.
- IlliterateJedi, on 10/21/2007, -0/+4And fishing stories are known for being fairly exaggerated, thus the "THIIIIIS BIIIIIG"
- jthomp3120, on 10/21/2007, -19/+43I guess global warming is messing with their sense of migration
- element21, on 10/21/2007, -12/+30i seriously hope you aren't being serious....
- Smills, on 10/25/2007, -0/+13Yes, but are you super serial?
- brstilson, on 10/21/2007, -4/+19Horray for thinking Hollywood disaster films about Global Warming are documentaries!

- SilverSeraph, on 11/07/2007, -3/+108Guys..the true story is when you see the pics from bottom to top!
- superRoot, on 10/25/2007, -2/+13Really? Why is the deer wet before it gets thrown into the ocean?
- SilverSeraph, on 10/21/2007, -5/+11) The 2nd greatest invention is sense of humor, 1st was Digg.com
2) How the hell could the photographer know -from that distance- that it was a swimming deer, not some floating garbage.
3) The deer was wet? have you touched it? (2nd pic from bottom, the deer seems to be dry!) - Hoogs, on 10/25/2007, -0/+3They dumped water on it, duh.

- superRoot, on 10/25/2007, -2/+13Really? Why is the deer wet before it gets thrown into the ocean?
- Checkerd, on 11/07/2007, -0/+41"I don't know what happened, it just jumped right in front of the boat."
- Stephenishere, on 10/20/2007, -6/+12thats so pimp, he gets to pet a deer, something i've always wanted to do. To bad the damn things are a bit fast.
- WootZoot, on 10/25/2007, -7/+2Never been to a petting zoo?
- WaterDragon, on 10/21/2007, -16/+2Moron! 'Pimp' is not an adverb. (Or an adjective, or a verb)
Why don't you learn to speak properly, before opening your mouth and making an even bigger fool of yourself?
'Stephenishere'...but he ought to be back in the first grade, learning basic language skills.- spudnic, on 10/20/2007, -1/+5Bet you're loads of fun at parties.
- GawtMilk, on 10/21/2007, -0/+5Language has changed a lot since you were in the first grade, gramps.
- ZigVicious, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1Yeah, but since when do they teach the word pimp in 1st grade?
- Dylan16807, on 11/07/2007, -1/+1so he was in first grade when pimp was only used as a verb or as a noun referring to a person, and the proper term here would be pimpin'
wasn't that only a couple years ago?
and you're calling him gramps?
- Munkey106, on 10/21/2007, -8/+3Buried for using the word "pimp" in that connotation.
- octophobic, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1It's also too bad deer have those stabby hooves that kill "petters" like you in droves every year. (< - exaggeration) Colbert may have it wrong about bears.
- wellyuk, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0Dugg for using the word "pimp" in that connotation.
- TDTech, on 10/21/2007, -3/+18So what was the catch today?
Oh nothing much, some snapper and a deer. - Scumbunny, on 10/21/2007, -5/+5I thought only lemmings did that...
- detales, on 10/20/2007, -8/+3Alright - fine- that's pretty cool.
- Zendour, on 10/21/2007, -5/+20This story gave me a warm feeling inside... there is hope.
- WootZoot, on 10/20/2007, -2/+3Of what?
- jus1haz2, on 11/07/2007, -1/+21swimming deer?
- napsack, on 10/21/2007, -0/+5Why sharks have lasers? :)
- RedHairedMan, on 10/25/2007, -0/+4And immediately after releasing it on the beach the narrator says they told it they would kill it on opening day of hunting season.
Mmmm...tasty tasty hope.
- Brodels, on 10/25/2007, -15/+12doh!... a deer, a female deer.
- buzkill65, on 10/25/2007, -1/+48Magical Disney Forums?
- lex0nyc, on 10/21/2007, -1/+5I guess that's one way to get the ticks off.
- JoeBaynham, on 10/21/2007, -3/+3Our biggest catch of the day.. a deer.
- griffeycom, on 10/20/2007, -9/+4Just goes to show you how stupid Deer are.
- alamandrax, on 10/20/2007, -0/+2Dumb deer! The North pole is THAT way!
- Torx, on 10/20/2007, -6/+10I didnt know deer can even swim! Maybe it was running from humanity. I know i would if i had rednecks trying to shoot me down..
- JoeBaynham, on 10/21/2007, -2/+7Ah he's coming right for us!
(Classic South Park :D)- Touchy610, on 10/22/2007, -4/+1...no. Just...no. You should be ashamed of yourself. South Park is better than that.
- alamandrax, on 10/20/2007, -1/+1You might want to take a gander at Season 1 Episode 3 - Volcano http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volcano_(South_Park_e ...
- Dylan16807, on 10/22/2007, -1/+2He didn't mean the joke, he meant the poor usage of it here in this digg article.
And I believe JoeBaynham did it wrong anyway.

- JoeBaynham, on 10/21/2007, -2/+7Ah he's coming right for us!
- Anzat, on 10/20/2007, -0/+29That's a he, not a she. Note the "button buck" antlers. Also, the balls.
- tweetsa, on 10/20/2007, -2/+2is this something deer normally do?
- elf25, on 10/25/2007, -0/+10to cross lake/river, it's not entirely unusual to see this. however, this one seems a little off course.
- elf25, on 10/20/2007, -11/+4You forgot that deer is GOOD eatin' but, does a deer permit allow drowning? ;-) (this'll get buried quick!)
- theShiba, on 10/20/2007, -8/+1Any comment that mentions getting either dugg or buried should get buried. I guess this is going to be a bit ironic....
- ToadLeg, on 10/20/2007, -5/+2I only bury you to prove your point.
- MLisa, on 10/20/2007, -3/+2Sorry...we Had 2 do it...irony in action...lol

- KMye, on 10/25/2007, -0/+36She'll never see her family in China now.
- anw13, on 10/21/2007, -1/+17its evolution..now if enough deer keep doing this, they will eventually develop gills
- akira117, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1They would have to have a reason to go in the water first i.e. food source, mating grounds etc
It would take a pretty long time but yea your kind of right
- akira117, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1They would have to have a reason to go in the water first i.e. food source, mating grounds etc
- 0x2a, on 10/25/2007, -6/+1another old story making the rounds...
- paul9290, on 10/25/2007, -7/+2THis is *****.... never heard of magical disney forum.
People will go to the craziest lengths for traffic! They should investigated them for cruelty to animals! - jlgaddis, on 10/20/2007, -0/+16More info... http://www.snopes.com/photos/hunting/deerfish.asp
- WaterDragon, on 10/21/2007, -0/+4On the road to Lahaina, Maui, there is a deer crossing sign (right before the tunnel). I never understood....are there actually deer on the Hawai'ian islands. I guess that is why they practice swimming.
- Mizuno, on 10/25/2007, -0/+28http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/6149/1192424131 ...
- jcastle, on 10/25/2007, -0/+15This should be its own submission
- SimonGray, on 10/24/2007, -1/+3I've seen those photos on Digg before.
- spinningobo, on 10/21/2007, -0/+3Agreed.
- atdakore, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1"I heard it's cooler in Antarctica"

- Weather, on 10/20/2007, -1/+2Do'h
- cyborgbill, on 10/21/2007, -0/+7Deer swimming long distances is not uncommon in the great lakes. I have heard of deer being spotted swimming from Michigan's lower peninsula to the upper. That's about 5 miles in most spots. Its also how TB has been spread to the U.P. in some cases. Amazing animals indeed.
- lordmutt, on 10/21/2007, -0/+5It's coming right for us!
- donkeySays, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1Probably it went whaling.
- kindrobot, on 10/21/2007, -0/+5I told you we were letting too many of our bucks get sent offshore.
- StopTheLie, on 10/21/2007, -4/+3Looks to me like they caught a deer, got it on the boat (notice the tied feet and rope collar) took it out to sea, threw it overboard, and then took some shots of it swimming away. Hope I'm wrong of course.
- MLisa, on 10/21/2007, -1/+4try checking snopes.com before you even try to make a decision...
- xxTazxx, on 10/20/2007, -10/+4The guy that caught it thought it was DEER-LICIOUS!
DIGG ME DOWN MOFOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- alamandrax, on 10/22/2007, -1/+2done.
- GawtMilk, on 10/22/2007, -1/+2You lead an invigorating life.
- Ludnix, on 10/21/2007, -2/+1Reminds me of the song "Chasing after deer" by Midlake.
"So off a cliff ...it falls to the sea." - chestertonb, on 10/21/2007, -2/+14Its a good job they released it afterwards. This means a dumb American with a small penis can blast it to death later.
- diadem2, on 10/20/2007, -2/+0From the snoopes article, after the brought the deer to land
"Too weak to stand, he just sat there quivering. We picked him up again and put his feet underneath him, but he still couldn't walk or stand. We left him sitting there looking at us. Before we left, I looked him in the eye and said 'See you on opening day; payback time.'" - DeathfireD, on 10/21/2007, -0/+4only during hunting season. The other months he has time to go swimming again.
- KLowD9x, on 10/21/2007, -2/+1What does penis size have anything to do with dumb, American, blast, death, or later?
- diadem2, on 10/20/2007, -2/+0From the snoopes article, after the brought the deer to land
- bardamu, on 10/21/2007, -1/+8Deer live on the refuse and barrier islands in southern North Carolina. They have to because of all the development on the coast. This one was probably swimming back to the mainland or between islands when a falling tide pushed it out to sea.
- hydrokool, on 10/21/2007, -0/+2It's not uncommon for deer to be swimming. They actually do this to get to safety. Look it up, do some research, they've been seen 5 miles from the nearest shoreline and swimming at a fast pace. How do you think deer end up on islands...???
- 0crabby0, on 10/25/2007, -0/+6Catch and release :)
- zoeskk, on 10/25/2007, -2/+1Oh deer.
- sherbertbones, on 10/25/2007, -9/+1Good job dude, I'm going to take up your good hearted ways and go down to Sub-saharan Africa and save all the zebras from being ripped apart from the lions...maybe you should build a fence on-shore so they can't escape! Ugh...don't screw around with nature.
- o0adam0o, on 10/21/2007, -0/+6Next time your drowning ill make sure to go forth with your dying wishes and leave you there.
- octophobic, on 10/21/2007, -0/+3That was brave. Deer can be very dangerous... except maybe when they're in water!
- o0adam0o, on 10/25/2007, -2/+1Poor thing was probably put there by these men, what some will do to come out on digg. /joke
- adiosjefe, on 10/21/2007, -1/+2It was probably on an iceberg that melted. Damn global warming!
- KayinAngel, on 10/25/2007, -5/+0The real story is that the order of the photos is actually reversed. Those sick bastards !
- RetroMUFC, on 10/21/2007, -1/+2Wow, I bet you thought you were the first to make that lame ass comment too. Maybe you should try reading the comments before you think about trying to be so witty.
- Typhoon2009, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1Not only did they do a good deed, but they'd also have a supply of venison if they were lost at sea!
