      If I could abolish one slang word from the collective lexicon of the human race it would definitely be "emo". It's just become a replacement for the equally lazy slang term "gay". Where once you may have said "Oh man that is so gay!" you would probably now say "Oh man that is so emo!". It doesn't even MEAN anything! It's not a real word, it's just a made up name for an obscure genre of punk music that died out in the early 90's. Sure, there are lots of derivatives of it on the radio today, but if you think you've ever heard emo music on mainstream radio then you're wrong. Good Charlotte and My Chemical Romance and Simple Plan are not emo bands, they're just ***** pop music. If you're the type of person who says "Dude you're like so emo!" then you've probably never heard emo music. Shut up.

And yeah I agree that it's terribly overused by "teh intraweb kidz" who diss anyone with any kind of feeling towards any matter as "emo", yet always whine on various forums themselves. The ability to feel is what makes us human, making emotionality a negative thing is quite scary.

      Yeah, we all hate those annoying folks who whine about their lives and the lack thereof to others, just don't abuse the word. The parent post wasn't exessively emotional in any way. In fact it was quite fitting and insightful in the context of this topic.

Sure that's what was happening for thousands of years now, it doesn't mean -though- this will be the fate of me or my generation. You have already seen the offset, the scenery has changed, it's already alien to many (most) of us, life became faster and faster, the same way as the external evolution, the pillar of our civilization.

      For those baffling on such screens or become depressed by them, I say see the alternative: http://www.sens.org , http://www.imminst.org , it's not science fiction or a bunch of nutters anymore, it's pure science, just give it a chance because nobody dies from malaria in advanced countries anymore unless he want so, the same can happen with aging, if you let your cells malfunctioning over the years and do nothing for it you will eventually die, but if you do something the same as you did with malaria then you will continue keep functioning, it's as simple as that. Aging IS a disease, it has all the aspects of a disease and if we do nothing for it we will continue dying from it.

      Either you'll accept your fate, name the aging natural (as if any other disease wasn't natural) and say we shouldn't play it God (as if we are not doing so ever since we cured the first disease, or changed the locality forever, or even changed the face of our planet at night http://www.geog.utah.edu/~pdennison/geog3110_img/nightlights.jpg ) or do something for this whirlpool of knowledge and wisdom and actually help curing it. The simplest you can do is donate some electricity and CPU power through folding@home ( http://folding.stanford.edu/ ) towards medical researches,or if you like to do something more hardcore donate some money towards the research for aging (the same way as Peter Thiel of Paypal fame did a while ago, http://www.mprize.org/index.php?pagename=newsdetaildisplay&ID=0107 , even $5 should do it), or if you a real hardcore take a career on bioengineering, bioinformatics or genetics.

I think my post requires an intelligent rebuttal and not -just- sterile digg down/burying. Many would argue that it has no relevant value with the content of the picture -shown- alone, but I would argue back that it has everything to do with the depression most of the people feel seeing such pictures because -let's not hide before our fingers- it's easy to understand that most religions are being based on this very fear of death and that's exactly what causes the depression, you wouldn't be depressed by such a picture if after the midnight you knew that a new day starts, the singleness of that day gives you the chills....

      So please people an intelligent rebuttal, for the sake of god, not sterile solutions

When I was in junior high, a graduate student came by to read the book to the class. Then, we had to take a survey about it. Turns out, she was doing research on whether or not the book is sexist. Recall that the book always refers to the tree in the feminine. The graduate student read the book to three different classes: first in the original form, next with the tree referred to in the masculine, and finally with the tree referred to neutrally.

      Unfortunately, I don't know what results she got.
