- asdfuiop, on 10/25/2007, -5/+35But can it suck more than Twister, starring Bill Paxton?
- StigNordas, on 10/20/2007, -1/+28very cool! I guess German tornados don't have cows and trailers flying through them.
- dillyhoo, on 10/22/2007, -4/+22Easily the most efficient way to ventilate smoke.
- MattL920, on 10/20/2007, -0/+16I read that as "tomato" first and was very confused
- HHP2K, on 10/21/2007, -0/+10You really have to wonder what the scene was when this crazy idea was born.
"Well, it's clear that our fire prevention systems aren't adequate enough. We need something that can take care of smoke while our slowass firefighters take their time getting to our gallery, so.. hey! Let's make a tornado!" - RockSlice, on 10/21/2007, -0/+97 minutes to form the funnel in the event of a "large fire"
Anyone else think that by the time this thing is started, there'll be too much smoke for it to get rid of more than a tiny fraction of it? - SiNN4R, on 10/20/2007, -1/+10Not as impressive in video form.
- IZasPIE, on 10/20/2007, -1/+10I wonder what would happen if you were sucked in. Always wanted to try it! Don't want to be the volunteer. =)
- OKeric, on 05/12/2008, -0/+8Judging by the video, I doubt it's capable of picking anybody up because people were standing pretty close to it and didn't seem to care.
- hoopadoo, on 10/22/2007, -4/+12It's absolutely amazing what modern science is capable of.
- XThunderStormX, on 10/22/2007, -0/+7"you won’t find this twister in some...museum...It’s actually located in the multi-story gallery of the Mercedes-Benz MUSEUM in Germany."
Mmm....inaccurate redundancy at its best.
Too bad they don't have little tornado-guns to blow up hot chick's skirts when you walk down the street. - inactive, on 10/20/2007, -0/+5On the darn page you halfwit twit!
- inactive, on 10/22/2007, -0/+4Anyone else notice what looks like an underground base from JamesBond 007, with sexy cars, in the back ground?
- Cybersqu, on 10/22/2007, -0/+4true, but i have more concern about the fire it self.. If its blowing the smoke/air out through the roof, it has to be sucking more in somewhere, which would just supply more oxygen to fuel the fire..
- Godlike, on 10/20/2007, -0/+4There is a video... dot dot dot ...
- TexanPsycho, on 10/20/2007, -0/+4Was I the only one to think that the video was just really bad?
- DMCLP, on 10/20/2007, -0/+4Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaazLTc0PCA
- violentvinyl, on 10/21/2007, -0/+4The jets used to create the tornado use Carbon Dioxide, which is often found in Fire Extinguishers.
- OhTheHumanity1, on 10/20/2007, -0/+3For some reason, I read that as "World's largest man-made tomato." Needless to say, I was quite confused when I got to the website
- nyrol2, on 10/20/2007, -1/+4Am I the only one who read that as "World's largest man, made tornado actually built for safety"?
- JT114881, on 10/20/2007, -0/+3Holly *****? Mad Crazy? Funel? What language do you speak?
- Digisphere, on 10/20/2007, -0/+3How can you stand there and not be tempted to trow stuff in it :P
- KingBunny, on 10/22/2007, -0/+3Pathetic!
How are you supposed to level an enemy base with that????
*slips back into fantasy world from which I came* - thespudmall, on 10/21/2007, -1/+4What a great way to accelerate and intensify a fire. Like a giant, ingenious, expensive bellows.
- fcukbush, on 10/20/2007, -0/+2Probably the most that would happen is it messes your hair up a little.
- joegibes, on 10/23/2007, -0/+2Germans don't have cows or trailers.
- LastSight, on 10/20/2007, -0/+2hmm...i bet the Germans will create tornadoes to destroy us
- Typhoon2009, on 10/20/2007, -0/+2It's the new Weather Control Device for CnC Red Alert 3
- Cglass, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1Nooo what would we do without Dor Oh Thee??
- clothmonkey, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1They actually have that struck out now.
- clothmonkey, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1Not me - they leave it running as an attraction.
- troyfoley, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1No more Mountain Dew for you...
- sanman, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1Tornadoes have a poor safety record in general
- swrlyhrly, on 10/20/2007, -1/+2That's the slowest damn tornado i've ever seen.
- f4nt0m4s, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1Wow, that sounds a lot more efficient than a sprinkler system.
/sarcasm - somespecial, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1Someone should make a bigger one
- avengingturnip, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1Sprinkler systems generally won't work in high ceiling spaces and some type of smoke exhaust system is required in multi-level atrium spaces by most building codes.
- neodon, on 10/20/2007, -1/+2Why? Do the terms CO2 and "carbon dioxide" strike fear into your heart? Get a life.
- Timmaay, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1Huh?
- ricopicouk, on 10/21/2007, -1/+2Sureley conventional extractor type fans would be more efficient? Can you imagine the power required to pump this amount of air to 140mph?
- avengingturnip, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1The Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas has an inverted cyclone smoke exhaust system which is probably significantly larger than this. They must never have called the Guinness Book.
- smackhero, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1this is clearly not meant to be practical or efficient, otherwise why hasn't it been adopted anywhere else? as ricopicouk stated, a conventional ventilation system would be far more efficient, particularly one that only turned on when smoke is detected. the tornado certainly looks cool, but it's also an extravagant waste of energy.
also, why is the carbon dioxide vapor needed? couldn't water vapor be used instead? i don't think we really need to create any more carbon dioxide than is already produced by industrial machinery and automobiles. even the city buses around here run entirely on methane and try to be as environmentally friendly as possible. unless the CO2 from that tornado is trapped inside the building and recycled by the jets (doubtful, with it being a ventilation system and all), this is really inconsiderate. - inactive, on 10/22/2007, -0/+1I wonder when Halliburton is going to either buy the company or steal the technology and attempt to use a tornado to get rid of evidence and blame it all on God.
- Digisphere, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1yeah, please trow a chair in it or something
- elnerdo, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1Delicious!
- codyr, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1haha, i too thought tomato.
very cool though, germanic folk. i like your vunderbaum. - jacobmp92, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1Easy bake tornadoes?
- ubergeek09, on 10/21/2007, -0/+0Well at least it if there is a fire it will look really cool when a tornado comes to put out the fire...
- XxXoldsaltXxX, on 10/25/2007, -3/+3Translation: PHOTOSHOPEED LOLO@L@L@L@L@L!!!!!!!1111
- ubergeek09, on 10/21/2007, -0/+0That is really, really cool. That's a incredible idea!
