- dj_sea2005, on 11/14/2009, -1/+151This reminds me of a story I have from my time in school.
Basically after lunchtime, we would line up in our classes on the playground and wait for our teachers to come outside and take us in. Problem was, our teacher was on the 4th story of the school and had recently broken her leg, so instead, she would signal us up from the classroom window.
One day - in a moment somewhat reminiscent of a similar scene in the Simpsons - the class clown suggested that we face the opposite direction and played dumb, and so we did. We stood outside for the entire lesson with the teacher frantically yelling at us, until eventually the head of the school came to us and issued everyone in the class an after school detention. We all stuck through it together and despite interrogation from the teachers during our 2 hour long detention, they never discovered the person truly responsible.

Lawyer sends email to principal saying "meep". Principal threatened legal action. - Crimeodial, on 11/14/2009, -0/+85Hahaha, we used to do stuff like that back in high school. The best teachers just didn't react and went on with class. It's hard to troll someone who doesn't respond.

I was gonna link to the mahnamanah song too, but it seems every single one has had it's audio removed by WMG. Way to go YouTube. (I know it's not Beaker but it rocks.) - livefromheaven, on 11/14/2009, -3/+55meep

"Parents, teachers. We have a serious problem on our hands. It's not kids using drugs, teen pregnancy or low test scores. No, this problem is much worse. 'Meep'. Kids are meeping all OVER campus. We need to stop this problem right here, right now or before you know it...the kids will be meeping the whole meeping town. Meep."
Sounds like a South Park episode. - surfernerd6987, on 11/14/2009, -4/+49Anyone want to join in emailing him with big words: MEEP

- Scaryclouds, on 11/14/2009, -1/+33It was actually just "MEEP," but to save money the producers just played the voice actor's recording twice.
- geeked, on 11/14/2009, -1/+33If this happened in Michigan, this would have been a joyous event. Michigan has a test called the 'Michigan Educational Assessment Program', MEAP for short. Of course . . . *thinking*. TEACHER: "Today class we will start our ME. . . our M exams." STUDENT: "You mean MEAP exams?" TEACHER: "OFF TO THE OFFICE YOU GO!" CLASS: *Burst's into laughter*.

MEEP! - joelcass, on 11/14/2009, -0/+27So disrupting class isn't against the rules, but now saying 'meep' is. This man is a genius!
- anotherjack, on 11/14/2009, -0/+27Oh you little dicks! The poor thing had a broken leg...good *****, though. And good loyal class group. No snitches!
- eatsomelead, on 11/15/2009, -0/+26dugg for recess
- 12345421, on 11/14/2009, -0/+26Reminds me of being back in high school when they banned clapping during lunch hour. A bunch of kids would all hang out in the same spot with lots of people going by them. So when someone would walk by them alone they would all start clapping as if cheering them on. Hilarious to watch.

Most likely, one of the troublemakers admitted it was planned on Facebook as I doubt that the principal attempts to monitor the feeds of every single student at the high school.
Now, I'm all for the school not having anything to say about what you do outside of school grounds and events, but yelling meep in class is just stupid and disruptive. I think banning meep is pointless as there are already going to be rules about disrupting class that could be used to punish students, but w/e. - Iamien, on 11/14/2009, -0/+21Ambushing people with the equivalent of stage fright. Had to really piss off the quiet/shy people who were most likely the ones alone.
- spyd3rweb, on 11/14/2009, -1/+21Disrupting class in the US is now a criminal and taserable
offense. - cmost, on 11/14/2009, -4/+23What next!?!? Have these morons forgotten what it was like to be a kid? Where the hell has common sense gone? Banning this word will only make the kids want to use it MORE! MEEP MEEP MEEP!
- anotherjack, on 11/15/2009, -0/+19For whatever reason this is how these children are testing authority at their school. The way in which the principal is handling it - getting ever more heavy handed and serious and angry, is not how to respond to this "crisis".He looks like an idiot when he harrumphs up to the podium to ban "meep" and waggle his finger.
Some people need to learn that respect and obedience are not the same thing. You can't command anyone to respect you. Silliness is not hostility - it can be a way of taking power back from people over you. He needs to approach them from the point of view that school is a community, not a dictatorship, and that they are a necessary part of the school, or they will have a revolution of silliness.
Meep represents a rather playful disruption of the control the teachers have over them. Do they have a student board, student council, any student representation? Slightly older kids in our most prestigious colleges - the best schools on earth, regularly pull equally silly pranks. It is seen as a sign of intelligence, and handled with a light hand. At any rate it should not be treated in the same light as smuggling cocaine onto school grounds. Nobody ever died of meep. - NodOfficer, on 11/14/2009, -1/+20Your comments have been forwarded to the Danvers Police Department.
http://theodoramichaels.com/articles/meep.php - detcade, on 11/14/2009, -2/+20Holy *****, I'm as liberal as the next guy, but these kids were arrogant pricks. They were obviously just trying to annoy people. Anyone calling this "censorship" or "invasion of privacy" is certifiable.
- heroesdietrying, on 11/14/2009, -0/+18I think everyone should email them some meeps.
- Chooxo, on 11/14/2009, -0/+18I was the kind of kid who would have been pissed off at the other kids for disrupting my class, especially if they continued in spite of the teacher telling them not to.
I had some classes that were no fun for me because the teacher would get walked all over and few kids actually wanted to learn anything, so I guess I'm glad that some action was taken.
That said, banning a word doesn't make quite as much sense as, say, simply banning disruptions. - Iamien, on 11/14/2009, -0/+18^^ Same exact thing. But instead of breakable plates we had trays.
Now looking back at it, it really distracted everyone, it took attention away from the person in the humiliating position. I don't believe it embarassed them any further, but instead did the opposite. Instead of the entire cafeteria quietly staring at the person, everyone just took a glance, clapped and moved on. It seems almost like a social shield in which we shielded the person feeling vulnerable. -
