"Tellez eventually freed herself from the scanner but found the medical office closed for the night with her locked inside. " - harsesus, on 06/24/2009, -6/+90Shes a 67 year old cancer patient, she probably didn't have the mobility, then mix in a bit of light clostrophobia and possibility of being medicated and confused and BAM... your a huge prick
- camintmier, on 06/24/2009, -9/+65Unless you're strapped down and/or weigh 500+ lbs, it's not exactly rocket science to slide yourself out of a CT machine.
- teamr, on 06/25/2009, -2/+55Unless you're strapped down and/or weigh 500+ lbs...or a 67 year old bone cancer patient?
- inactive, on 06/24/2009, -0/+49I'd look around for some valiums
- cuecat, on 06/25/2009, -0/+30Isn't that how your average DC Comics supervillains are born?

- Stormwern, on 06/25/2009, -6/+31Yo mama so fat, her CT scan takes 5 hours.

- cyrusuncc, on 06/24/2009, -0/+25FYI: This is what they do to you if your insurance is declined.
- doublefelix, on 06/24/2009, -1/+24Well, I hope they've gotten her out of there by now then.
- ChiaGod, on 06/25/2009, -0/+21This is why all CT machines should pop out the patient and "ding" when done. Like toast in a toaster.

Yes, I am a huge prick. ;) - Frankyfan3, on 06/25/2009, -0/+14I couldn't find the East Valley Tribune article, but here is another:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21033714/from/ET/
This is from 2007 - crossmr, on 06/25/2009, -3/+16That's what happens when power users don't take the time to look at the ***** they submit. To the front page and beyond!
- AmusedToDeath, on 06/25/2009, -1/+13@rahsut: I would consider myself a very "productive member of society", work hard, make a decent living, and I can still barely afford my health insurance, deductibles, and non-covered costs. What do we do then? I'm not a welfare mom with ten kids - I'm responsible, have a college degree and a thriving small business. Oh, and since I'm self-employed I probably pay more taxes than you do.
My wife just had a baby, and I'm terrified to get the bill, because our insurance company (Blue Cross) has a habit with us of deciding they just won't pay for some things for no good reason. You shouldn't have to ask "Can I afford this?" when trying to decide if you need a medical procedure. - dtfinch, on 06/25/2009, -1/+12"I want you to hold perfectly still."
- inactive, on 06/25/2009, -1/+11Two words: Bone cancer.
- DulcetTone, on 06/25/2009, -1/+11My labrador had a CAT scan. It came up negative. Then they gave him a PET scan. Positive.
- rhoonah, on 06/25/2009, -1/+10she is 67 years old so it might not be as easy for her as it would be for you.
- RegalBegal, on 06/25/2009, -0/+9Why are there so many comments about the US health system? This could happen anywhere there is a human being doing a job and not doing it right. I know the grass is greener on the other side, but do you honestly think this can't happen somewhere else?
- inactive, on 06/25/2009, -0/+8I'd just grab a few prescription pads and put lewd flip-books in the corners.
- kevinb623, on 06/25/2009, -3/+11you realize that it doesn't matter who runs healthcare, it's still the same people working there, right?
- chadsexingtime, on 06/25/2009, -0/+7My only regret . . . is having . . . bone-itis.
- kelmaster1, on 06/25/2009, -1/+8She's a 67-year-old lady who probably has enough trouble getting out of a chair let along some 'wacky contraption'.
- bencanfield, on 06/25/2009, -0/+7I was stuck on the 404 page for about 5 hours before I realized the page was missing.
- ygeoff419, on 06/25/2009, -4/+10@rahsut
I doubt you are a very productive member of society, just a guess. Why not just alter the system? I don't want a free ride, I want a health care system that cares more about human life then money, plain and simple. Medicine and surgery that can save lives should not be denied to anyone.
This is bigger then 'i shouldnt have to pay for it, you can pay for your own healthcare' and it goes on to "how can we alter the system so everyone is covered and you don't have to pay a ***** of taxes on top of expensive insurance?"
Grow up. - BlackOculus, on 06/25/2009, -1/+7Not going anywhere for a while?

Grab a snickers! - fleyinberdy, on 06/25/2009, -0/+6The CT scanner wasn't running, bud.
- DaviDTC, on 06/25/2009, -6/+12At least 4.5 hours ago the link was dead with a "404: page not found". I'm guessing this will still make the front page. Should be easy for Digg to know who to ban for blatant blind digging. Just look at those who dugg the story within the last 4.5 hours. Pretty much the last 25 diggs (at 180 now) have been done on a dead link.
- shadowspawn, on 06/24/2009, -0/+6Link is missing....
- nem0, on 06/25/2009, -0/+6Now whenever she gets angry, her clothes split and she turns into a giant green monster.
- cawpin, on 06/24/2009, -0/+6You still get the East Valley Trib? Wow.
- roddack, on 06/25/2009, -0/+5She must have pissed off House or House was just trying to prove a point by making her wait.
- ReasonableHuman, on 06/25/2009, -2/+7So socialism is when we all pay for something and we all use it? So our entire $500B+ defense budget is socialism!? That's terrible! I think we should let private businesses sell us all rifles and RPG's at huge profits and then let them tell us when and who we can shoot them at! After all, that's pretty much how we manage health care!!
And IS the government doing a great job running the country? It is the ONLY organization running the government! It is YOUR government, so if it isn't working, maybe YOU are doing something wrong! Governmental control is what we GIVE to the our government. I wake up each day and 300M people can nearly always bet their food supply is safe, criminals are often caught, and we can enjoy a reasonable amount of freedom. It is hardly perfect, but yes, our government does work. I don't see members of congress complaining about their government health care! And I bet you wanted to move Social Security into the stock market! After all, the free market would have done so much better with your money! That was another great idea to stop the threat of socialism. Thank god it didn't happen. Lose the 50's Red Scare tactics and start thinking! The heath care of your fellow countrymen matters to you. - inactive, on 06/25/2009, -0/+5I thought that's what Medicare was for.
- pinchduck, on 06/25/2009, -0/+5It's always buyer beware, no matter what you are doing, but not everyone feels that way. I know many nurses who care deeply about their patients. You are overgeneralizing.
- JQP123, on 06/25/2009, -6/+11Word to the wise ... should you ever find yourself in the hands of the US health care system, one thing to keep in mind is that to the people inside the system, it's just a job and you're just another item on their assembly line.
If you want to receive the level of care that you deserve and expect, you'd better become as involved in the process as possible. Never assume that anyone will "do the right thing".
Blatant, outrageous mistakes such as this one are rare. Much more common is simply shoddy work --- a few botched tests, a quick diagnosis and prescribed treatment that turns out to be ineffective, detrimental or even deadly. An unnecessary surgery or two, a few foreign objects ( tools, sponges, etc.) left inside your body. I've seen all this and more happen to friends, family and acquaintances.
Think about it --- in most cases, they still get paid regardless. Your only recourse is to sue. But even the cost of this is already figured into the system and passed along to you. - keiths, on 06/25/2009, -0/+5I don't know about getting claustrophobic in a CT scan machine. Every CT scan I've done was an open machine. Most MRI's are closed.
- ygeoff419, on 06/25/2009, -8/+13Yeah, cause running our health care for profit seems to work so ***** well. Maybe we should just stop looking at health care as a money making business and start looking at it as a human right.
- Akairenn, on 06/25/2009, -0/+5Meh, we're paying for it now.
The only difference is we'll be paying more and there'll be a ton more forms to fill out.
On the plus side, the forms will give you something to do when you're left forgotten in a machine. - Kapitaine, on 06/25/2009, -0/+4...don't move...ever. For...forever. Until you die and turn into a skelly-bob!
- rhoonah, on 06/25/2009, -1/+5perhaps it was yours. Why bother posting such useless and stupid comments. Get a job and move out of mom's basement.
- reyoo30309, on 06/25/2009, -0/+4Some guy with a dynamic ip just sits there hitting the F5 button.
- inactive, on 06/25/2009, -2/+682? She's eligible for Medicare. That's the the government run health program for seniors.
If she's already on it, you just made the case against the government running health care. - atomheartmother, on 06/25/2009, -0/+4@delihound, Instead of taking the position that someone else should have to pay for the ambulance ride, why not ask why a 10 minute ambulance ride costs 10.000? Who is it again that wants tort reform- one of the things that will dramatically bring down medical costs?
