- Br0wn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+44not like there was money back then. ah the good old days of bartering with wives and livestock
- playerslight, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23That'd work, or maybe something about 'two flaps of worn-out leather?'
I dunno, I got nothin' today. - foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17"t also contained two black-and-white photos — one of a girl who could be Barnes and another showing a young man in an Army Air Force uniform, possibly someone she was dating."
Couldnt they ask?
I am sure she would remember.... - Homunculiheaded, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18I thought the title said she got it 0.59 years later, or 210 days, while still impressive not quite as amazing as the what it actually says. However subtly using decimal like that could be an easy way to make an article extraordinary "Man still alive..50 centuries later!"
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17We know the building engineer stole the cash.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11They really "returned her wallet", if you know what I mean.
- slkuhn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Probally. Not like it would have been much.
- EnderTheThird, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"not like there was money back then. ah the good old days of bartering with __wives and livestock__"
There's a difference between those 2?
*Wonders why he's still single...* - funkytaco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I find the sidebar video about "Man invents 'no foam' beer tap" more interesting. Somebody submit that shizzle.
- Duelus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Heh, a lot of things seem to happening with the highschools in McKinney... its the same school where the cheerleader stuff happened, I live about 5 minutes away from both of these schools.
- playerslight, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3There's gotta be a euphemism in there somewhere...
- donnydarko319, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It makes it seem like the building engineer found it doing a routine repair. Are we supposed to believe that the school went 60 years in between fixing these pipes?
- duality, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is a very good story. We have memories of our pasts, but when we die and those memories die with us, what's left? It usually takes accidents like this to make sure that some trace of us survives into the distant (or even moderately distant) future.
Having said that, I'm not too surprised about the lack of cash in the wallet. I know I certainly didn't carry all that much cash when I was a high school student, and I know several women who have wallets but carry their cash in something else. - censorme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My grandpa was in the news for a while for getting his wallet back 50 years later. They found it in a wall at a factory where he once worked.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The engineer probably received a trouble-ticket about clogged tubes in the school's interwebs. Upon thinking about it, that's definitely what happened - without a doubt. I'm willing to stake my reputation on that.
- utcursch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3It's great to be reminded of the high school days in such as way...
- docsimmons, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think i heard this story about a year ago. Has anyone else heard of something like this happening?
- bifbangpow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1a friend of mine found a wallet from the 70s in the rafters of the bar that he worked in in downtown LA. the bar used to be a hotel in the 70s and the wallet had a social security card in it, credit cards, drivers license, photos and business cards for a hat shop that the woman owned. after simply looking up the womans name in the yellow pages, he was able to find her and returned her wallet to her. she was 95 and very ill, but she was so happy to have her wallet returned. oddly enough her wallet was also red leather of some sort.
- TenebrousX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The article made it seem like they were mailing back the wallet as it went to press
- kernokerno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1great!!!1!
- josegutz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That was back in the day when Chicago Died... Glory Be.

- Br0wn, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4"Who wants a 60 year old snake skin?"

- skankyBacon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I normally hate when people post just to mention that something is a dupe, but...
wasn't this like JUST on here? - roguedog, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Time has a way of getting away from us
- LatvianHedgehog, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Dum-dum-dum-dum-dum! It's fun to stay at the y-m-c-a ...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Actually, considering the collector value of old paper money, depending on what exact bills that were in the wallet, it could have been worth a fortune today. Probably not though. Most silver certificates from that period are only worth a few bucks.
- hode, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2"The wallet didn't have any cash in it when it was found, but did contain a $4 activity pass, a student ID card, and a membership card for the YMCA's teen club."
- IronyPolice, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0And just when she was about to give up hope of ever seeing it again!
- jinglee, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Who wants a 60 year old snake skin?
