    I'm surprised the surgeons didn't begin denying her the operations earlier in the process (as in before her face was all deformed). I guess their is probably always someone out there who thinks they can turn the ship around?

People suffering from this end up amputating their body parts in order to feel ok. Therapy does exist for this condition. One unique approach involves using mirrors to train the brain to recognize the limbs correctly.
