Wil Wheaton's Geek in Review: Time Enough At Last
suicidegirls.com — Around the middle of November, my friends and family started asking me what I wanted for Christmas. Because the Nintendo Wii was sold out everywhere, I came up with something just as difficult to give me, but slightly more thought-provoking: "I'd like more time."

- fordistumley, on 10/12/2007, -9/+20Your writing continues to impress, Wil. Keep up the good work.
- wilwheaton, on 10/12/2007, -11/+28Thanks. I was afraid the point of this that I had in my head wouldn't come across once my dumb words were done making it, but the feedback I've gotten from people about it makes me feel like I somehow managed to pull it off.
- chi1thook, on 10/12/2007, -40/+10All I wanted for Christmas is for Will Wheaton to stop blogging. Doesn't the internet already have enough crap.
- anicejew, on 10/12/2007, -57/+12Sorry but I don't like Wil Wheaton. The poor child actor didn't have a proper upbringing and now he's virtually illiterate. Plus, he has submitted spam in the past to digg about how the GNAA was taking over Wikipedia, etc.
- themarq, on 10/12/2007, -9/+13@anicejew
Well you of course are entitled to your opinion just as I, and every other digger is entitled to ours. Which is why I will now click the 'block' button next to your name. - pustulio, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Space Nerd Wil Wheaton!!!
- Sandwiches_Time, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7@themarq
You'd block someone for voicing a preference? - thisisbs, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4Wow look at that Anicejew hasn't been buried yet...amazing!...wow i wish i posted this a little earlier. Digg down please
- kremvax, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20NSFW flag anyone!?
If you're going to post a suicidegirl link, at least include a NSFW tag somewhere in the description for all the diggers who login from their office.
( and to pre-empt all the campus nay-sayers: It's just not a URL you'd want IT associating with your user id during an audit, no matter what images are or aren't on the page. ) - saska, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Add -5 to the number of negative diggs on any post from anicejew. They all start out fluffed with 5 green thumbs from its dupe accounts.
- artofwar420, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Wow, nice writing. Interesting and to the point. Doesn't bore and has depth. Awesome, I wish one day my writing skills reach this level.
- cisaza, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Good read, Wil. Keep it up.
- MarkoBarko, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9isn't it bad etiquette to post your own stuff to digg? (which is exactly what he has done)
- DNABeast, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@kremvax
>> It's just not a URL you'd want IT associating
If the URL is the problem, surely you're given due warning with the fact that the URL is question is attached to the Story title up there? - westoncampbell, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Bury me, digg me.. your choice!
- mhanley, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5Awesome read, Wil. I can totally relate! I liked the reference to your Tor paperback collection-- are you a Vlad fan as well?
- Alfdog, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Too bad if you do write that book, there will be inevitable comparisons to the holodeck... jk
- Cleotis, on 10/12/2007, -13/+7LOL Wil, OMG, is it really you? I'm UR #1 fanboi, LOL!
- zzzzbest, on 10/12/2007, -13/+7Wil Wheaton is forever pretending to be a geek with a clue, when really he's just another blogger with a seminotable past who knows how to install wordpress. His writing isn't very good either.
- monergism, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Wil,
I've read little of your work so please, forgive me but, I see your website as http://wilwheaton.typepad.com
Now, I haven't looked (busy working) but could you or would you buy your own domain? Surely you'd have rights to it. - knodi, on 10/12/2007, -18/+10Why is this duchebags crap on front page.
- dracostimpy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Because Wil's literate enough to spell "douchebag" (unlike you, douchebag).
- psyanyde, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8I used to feel pity for people whose news source was the Daily Show. Don't get me wrong, the Daily Show is great entertainment, but you should search for a more robust news source...
...like a porn site.
A news section on suicidegirls? Is this for people who can't stop beating off for more than 5 minutes, but still need to be up to date on current events? - haggie, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2You'll shoot your eye out!
- shredomatic, on 10/12/2007, -15/+7From hanging out with Captain Picard to writing crap on suicidegirls, oh how the mighty have fallen.
And you can't pluralize "internet" you *****. There's only one.- sonofalink, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10"And you can't pluralize "internet" you *****. There's only one."
Wow.
Is it cold under that rock? Maybe you should come out in the sun sometime. - drowningfish, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7If George W Bush can say "the internets" than for the love of god it is the internets! Don't question a Bushism.
- RevHelix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Depends on how you look at it, there is the internet we are on and "internet 2" that is not for commercial use, I am sure the two have met =P
Even though it sounds retarded, the Internets do exist!
Most of us only have access to the one. - Charlotte_Web, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Ever hear of the Internet2 consortium?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abilene_Network
Hmmm... RevHelix beat me by mere seconds...
- sonofalink, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10"And you can't pluralize "internet" you *****. There's only one."
- NanoStuff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"I'd like more time."
I plan to live forever. — Riker- Charlotte_Web, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"I plan to live forever. So far, so good." - Steven Wright
- t.toe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4crap, I didn't read the location of the article. I hope my sysadmin at work doesn't think I'm some kind of pervie.
- dracostimpy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Work-friendly link or copy/paste please?
- bleonard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6suicide girls and thats nsfw (for me)
- catalysis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1With my financial status, its not unreasonable to think I could live 250-300 years.
- johnrex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Such a Paradox. Spending time writing about wanting more time.
This just seems counterproductive to me. I'm using my time to read it. Now wasting more time to comment about it.
Maybe you shouldn't write about wanting more time, as you are simply taking others time with you, or something like that. This just makes me think about how much time we all spend complaining. When we could all be doing something about it. Which puts me in the same paradox you are in. Hmmm.
Thanks for the read. - Bytor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Odd thing is I just watched the Twilight Zone episode of that title last night...
Note to self: get laser eye surgery before the end of the world. - illegal_op, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4I'm sorry but if anyone else posted stories to there own blog all of the time they would be crucified. I just don't understand why spam from famous/semi-famous people is ok? I will be dugg down on this but it had to be said.
- dracostimpy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I like reading Wil's articles because it's nice to see that not everyone famous/semi-famous is a complete *****. It comforts me to know that common sense is not the exclusive domain of the voiceless majority.
- DJCult, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6because the ARTICLE is actually there, not a link to a blog that has a link to an article. And I think self-posts are fine if they contain interesting material. He's in the clear for me.
- reidmix, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Wil is so geeky-chic I'd follow him on twitter.com :)
Thanks Wil! - dosterm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Pretty dope, Wil. The article spoke to a feeling I've had for a few years now... stop the world and let me off, for just a little bit.
And I always crack up at that clown sweater. If it's not too painful a memory, where'd you get that?- wilwheaton, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@dosterm: The entire story is in my blog: http://wilwheaton.typepad.com/wwdnbackup/2005/12/if_you_want_to_.html
- westoncampbell, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@wilwheaton
How do you feel after seeing that someone has made some rude comment regarding you here on Digg? Man, people can be so rude sometimes... I hope you don't take it personally. - dosterm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I didn't mean to be rude at all... sorry if it came off that way. Hope you didn't take it that way, Wil... even though I'm sure you didn't.
It's a goofy looking sweater, obviously. Why would you assume it reflects on him? If he designed the thing, and went to L.A. to start a career knitting designer sweaters for the rich, then yeah, he might get upset... but I was pretty secure in thinking that's not what went down there. And I've read enough of Wil's stuff to know that he has a great sense of humor, especially about himself. His reviews of Star Trek episodes are really funny, and I'm not even a Trekkie (or Trekker, don't want to offend anyone else here). Just a person who appreciates that Star Trek is a good show.
Anyway, thanks for the reply... that was a hilarious story! Checking out more of the blog. - westoncampbell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@dosterm
I wasn't thinking of you at all when I was mentioning people being "rude". I'm sorry you thought that. - dosterm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ahh.. alright. I thought it was sorta weird ;) Just assumed since you replied to me. Digg needs a system for replying to a reply!
