- lisapham, on 11/19/2007, -2/+22This is so true, especially here at Digg.
- appleann1, on 11/20/2007, -2/+18I guess you just made her point.
For making a statement you just called her vile, moron and bitch.
You never let us down dave. - Error601, on 11/20/2007, -1/+10The word opinion on Internet sites is really a cover word for bigoted rhetoric, irrational rambling, and conspiracy theories. That's what ticks people off and not well explained opinions. Unless you're talking about fanboys and then anything negative about their little pet company (Sony, MS, Toyota, Google, Nintendo especially) and they turn into little children.
- MikeonTV, on 11/19/2007, -0/+9People who don't agree with your opinion feel there is no point to opening you mouth. Or your browser for that matter!
- doctechnical, on 11/20/2007, -0/+8Because on the interwebs, you can't punch someone in the face for being a rude git. Alas.
- appleann1, on 11/20/2007, -0/+7Is this tangible enough?

And why shouldn't she comment on an article she submitted? Everyone is still entitled to their opinion, as much as you people wish it were otherwise. - crazybugger, on 11/20/2007, -0/+6People don't like their BIG EGO to be challanged!
- drachemorder, on 11/20/2007, -0/+6I think that's true in some cases, but I see a lack of civility online even among people that I know should know better. I've got this Christian gaming clan I've run for the past ten years, and I see it there too, though obviously not as rude and vulgar as it is elsewhere. I think there's just something about the nature of the Internet that encourages that sort of behavior. One thing is that text doesn't convey the nuances of emotion and mood the way face-to-face interaction and even speech does. It's all too easy to take something that was written in haste the wrong way, and once that happens it tends to blow out of proportion. In real life that sort of thing gets defused faster because people catch those little cues that indicate someone is joking, or is hurt, or being sarcastic, or what not. And for another thing, people feel like they can hide behind this shield of anonymity and say things they'd never say to someone's face.
There are a lot of factors in play here, but if there's one thing we all need to learn, it's that courtesy and civility are at least as important online as they are in real life. - readwriteblue, on 11/20/2007, -0/+6Why I think most people most people are so rude on the net is because they are so unhappy otherwise. They are unhappy and wish spread their unhappiness. Their name calling and sermons, seem more a show than their true selves speaking (example mightydavefish). It has shock value and even that has worn thin.
- readwriteblue, on 11/20/2007, -0/+6What nice people are here on Digg.
- jeffiek, on 11/20/2007, -4/+9Depends on your definition of opinion. Are chocolate chip cookies better with big chips or small chips? Do you like rap (ugh) music? Those are opinions. I'm never rude to people over opinions.
Believing in WMDs is not an opinion. It's stupidity. I'm usually not rude to them. I try to reason with them. Usually it's hopeless, but I try anyway.
Calling a 10 term Congressman ***** insane is not an opinion. It's the ranting of a psychopath. I'm rude to them. Sometimes. Sometimes I ignore them. - driftin079, on 11/20/2007, -3/+8Actually, I'm only rude to people who make spelling and grammatical errors, you tiny-brained wiper of other peoples' bottoms.
- BigManOnCampus, on 11/20/2007, -0/+4I see, so opinions being vile means all respect for your fellow human being goes out the window then?
The minute anyone believes anything not in tune with your beliefs they get assigned a label of evil and sub-human? Is that it?
Sounds like fundamentalism to me. Maybe you should go look in the mirror, you sound like your own worst enemy. - inactive, on 11/20/2007, -1/+4Dave, your opinions are vile and your behavior is vile. I would hazard a guess that you are a vile person. I'm really surprised that Digg hasn't banned you yet. After all, praying daily for your opponents to get a$$ cancer is hardly nice.
Oh, I buried the article for blasphemy. - laterthandawn, on 11/20/2007, -2/+4Because they know that their opinion sucks.
- ViRaZ, on 11/20/2007, -1/+2Everyone gets criticized for anything they say or do, especially on the internet.
- b8man99, on 11/20/2007, -1/+2Because, at the end of the day, there are lots of stupid people in the world who can't conduct themselves in an adult manner without resorting to childish name calling................................................... Bitches!
- wahooguy14, on 11/20/2007, -3/+4I am rude to people who spell words wrong when there is a spell check option
- wild, on 11/20/2007, -2/+3Well, at least you have the right username.
- naich, on 11/20/2007, -4/+5You spelled "Opinion" wrong, moron.
- MrPapa1, on 11/20/2007, -1/+1hmmmm... wonder why? aint it obvious?
- oceanrain, on 11/20/2007, -1/+1Why not?
- gonegoogling, on 11/20/2007, -1/+1and they all stink
- JAVandiver, on 11/20/2007, -1/+1Not yet...
- inactive, on 11/20/2007, -5/+4Bitch please it's the Z... way or the highway
- ColorBlind, on 11/20/2007, -3/+2Opinions are like *****, everyone's got one.
- floridiot2, on 11/20/2007, -3/+2ashole
- floridiot2, on 11/20/2007, -6/+3..You have sex with them? Oh wait.
- sideshowRAHEEM, on 11/20/2007, -8/+2***** you and your ***** opinion, I couldn't disagree more.
- fractalman, on 11/20/2007, -9/+1Very sad that you have to make the first comment on a story that you submitted. Maybe if you based your opinion on some tangible facts, you wouldn't get so much flak. Opinions are like *****, everyone has one, and no one wants to see yours. Silly little girl, grow up. The world does not revolve around you. If you want to avoid the name calling, then STFU.
- inactive, on 11/19/2007, -25/+6Maybe because your opinions are vile?
For example, many of us find the right wing warmongering a vile "opinion" that brown people and muslims are less than human.
Rational people who respect human rights will call you names for advocating crap like that, especially if you try to dress it up.
Why? Because it's not a valid position for human beings. It's fear driven.
Maybe that's what's happening. I'm pretty rude to cowardly warmongers who insist the "war on terror" is vital to the survival of the USA, yet are too ***** to enlist and be men and put their money where their mouth is. It's because their cowardice invalidates their argument that it's "necessary" for our survival.
Bah. I'm explaining this badly and don't feel like trying again.
Does this moron really need to ask WHY people blast her?
If you ask me she deserves it for being so dumb and whiny as to ask this stupid question. What, she's whining because people didn't respect her opinion?
Whaaaaaa.....
It's the interwebs, bitch. Get used to it. - inactive, on 11/19/2007, -25/+3P.S. Before you whine some more, I'm not saying your opinions ARE vile, i'm just offering a possible reason for people to behave that way. I don't know your work, but after this crybaby crap I don't care.
Writer, meet the internet.
I guess it can be shock to realize that people don't agree with you and don't care enough to let you down gently.
Ah, and the piece is anonymous. Even more pathetic.
The cream rises to the top. The rest gets dumped on.
