It sounds like there's an out of order bathroom at a truck stop, and some old guy may have remarked that whites and blacks shouldn't mix. 5 leaps and a lawsuit later, we have one of the largest timber companies in the world accused of segregated bathrooms.

Please do stop living in an alternate reality where the most outrageous news on TV is the norm. I understand that it's sometimes fun to play the victim, but I assure you that if your primary concern is being able to make racist jokes and hypothetical situations in which you are charged wrongly with hate crime - well, you will find no one gives a flying *****. Maybe I shouldn't generalize. *I* don't give a *****.
If you don't appreciate racist jokes about white people, try expressing your concerns to the speaker. I hear even non-whites have brains capable of empathy. I think I do anyway. And if that doesn't work and if it' a work setting maybe it's best you take it to management. People don't like cultures that are different from their own. I know of racists who have black friends because they 'act white' (i.e. been assimilated by white culture)

- AngelicRaver, on 11/11/2007, -2/+12Until recently? Hell, my old high school still does it. They just label it in a manner that no one cares or notices. The school board tried to get rid of it due to the state's requirements, but the parents bitched something awful. In the neigboring town they were forced to, and the white parents just moved the 'White' prom to a private area, and the 'Black and Mexican prom' was hosted by the school. Racism and segregation is well alive in parts of the south, though not governmentally enforced, its sure enforced by the a majority of the people, both Black and White.

And she mentions that she complained repeatedly to the Georgia-Pacific HR department. We have some ***** flood or clog our restrooms several times a day. People get feces and urine all over the place constantly. People vandalize walls, tissue and soap dispensers, even ceiling tiles CONSTANTLY. Hell they even steal the cruddy tissue paper! If only a "NO *****" sign would work.

I won't deny that people are unfairly called racists, I've been called a racist many times myself, but it's never bothered me. My theory is that if you let it bother you, you're only giving ammo to the people calling you a racist. Case in point - I had a friend who would never admit it, but she was a bit racist, and in her line of work, she would occasionally be called a racist. And she would just fly off the handle because she is racist, as much as she doesn't want to admit, which leads to her taking it incredibly personally. Thus, I tend to be suspicious of people who make a big deal of not being racist (not that I'm saying you are racist), because my experiences with my friend lead me to think that anyone who does is trying too hard.

COUSHATTA, La. -- A Louisiana school district suspended a white bus driver while it investigates complaints that she ordered nine black children to sit at the back of the bus. No previous complaints have been lodged against the driver, who has worked several years for the Red River Parish school district, school Superintendent Kay Easley said Thursday.
Two mothers, both black, sparked the investigation with a complaint on Monday that their children and the other black children had been ordered to sit in two rows of seats in the rear of the bus. "In all these years, I've never had a problem like this," said Janice Williams, whose four children ride public school buses.
One of her children, Jarvonica Williams, 16, said the bus driver allowed many white students to have seats all to themselves while some blacks were forced to stand or sit in others' laps. Iva Richmond, whose 14- and 15-year-old children were on the bus, said Thursday when school started this month, the white driver told them she had assigned them seats, with the black children at the back of the bus.

Richmond said she complained to a principal, who told the driver that if any children were assigned to seats, all would have to be. Last week the driver assigned black students to two seats in the back of the bus, Richmond said. "All nine children were assigned to two seats in the back of the bus and the older ones had to hold the smaller ones in their laps," she said.

Easley said the driver had been suspended without pay, and she would announce the results of the district's investigation at a school board meeting on Sept. 5.
