- Microdot, on 02/29/2008, -23/+5im surprised nobody else has said it yet... but at&t cannot hold a candle to the level of suck that is microsoft.
- TheUngod, on 02/29/2008, -4/+11 Sorry, when did Microsoft violate our constitutional rights?
- gameforge, on 02/29/2008, -12/+4Since when can you only hate companies that violate the Constitution? Some people don't conduct private business over the phone but are harassed by Windows on a daily basis. They, IMO, have a very rational reason to hate MS more.
- TheUngod, on 02/29/2008, -2/+5I guess I just don't understand. Being inconvenienced by crashes or having to click on annoying pop up boxes is worse than breaking the constitution? And people wonder why they get away with it.
- gameforge, on 02/29/2008, -6/+3Yes I realize you don't understand. I'm not saying it's worse - I'm saying that some could find them more deserving of their hate. Anyone who reads my comments should know that I hate MS as much as anyone; and I do find what AT&T's doing more reprehensible and more worthy of legal recourse than anything MS has done. If you ask me, I think AT&T should be destroyed as a company - I wouldn't necessarily say that about MS.
But do I hate AT&T more? Well I could lie and say I do to look popular, but I don't. I don't find myself cussing at AT&T on a regular basis. It's not a quantification of their threat or their severity, it's simply a matter of how much I'm personally inconvenienced by wiretapping, and how much I'm personally inconvenienced by MS, or Comcast, or other companies that aren't necessarily revoking my rights but which are just aggravating on a daily basis.
I'm sorry if that makes no sense to you, I guess I evaluate things on independent axes of each other. I could say I hate a lot of people and companies that have done nothing wrong, legally, according to history. I can't say they're a bigger priority than companies which violate Constitutional rights or whatnot.
I mean, look at insurance companies - I don't know that they necessarily violate the Constitution, but they screw innocent people like you and I out of a lot of money all the time. That's *****. Again, they haven't even done anything legally wrong necessarily - but I hate them a lot more than AT&T.
- senatorpjt, on 03/01/2008, -3/+3AT&T never violated my constitutional rights personally (that I know of), but Microsoft has pissed me off personally. That's why.
- gameforge, on 02/29/2008, -12/+4Since when can you only hate companies that violate the Constitution? Some people don't conduct private business over the phone but are harassed by Windows on a daily basis. They, IMO, have a very rational reason to hate MS more.
- TomFrost, on 02/29/2008, -3/+7Microsoft is a big ball of suck, but this award goes to AT&T for violating our rights and Fox News for conspiracy to control our elections.
- Nitesmoke, on 03/01/2008, -1/+2My vote for worst company: AOL
- TheUngod, on 02/29/2008, -4/+11 Sorry, when did Microsoft violate our constitutional rights?
- diggmaddy, on 02/29/2008, -3/+30What? No Halliburton in the list? WTH? Raping the country for war profiteering and then abandoning it is not considered bad enough for these polls?
- senatorpjt, on 03/01/2008, -0/+7No Blackwater either.
- grungegbunny, on 03/01/2008, -0/+3Halliburton would have been pick 1. AT&T was my vote but 2nd choice overall.
- oxdeltaxo, on 02/29/2008, -2/+20Not to mention Diebold....
- corourke, on 02/29/2008, -1/+20AT&T was kind enough to email me my own SSN as well as all of the data an identity thief would need to get some great usage out of it. This is against their own privacy policy but when I called corp. about it they said "sorry is really all we can do".
Microsoft on the other hand was kind enough to try and help me resolve a legacy SQL issue by having technical support not charge but actually put me on the phone with an actual engineer from the SQL team.- directrix13, on 02/29/2008, -5/+1Cool, that about puts them on the level with open source support. Well, except for the part where they would charge you anyway.
- CrazedLeper, on 02/29/2008, -3/+5Why did I think I'd be the first to say "AT&T"? I hate those evil bastards. I hate all evil bastards but they have me surrounded; I'd need a time machine to get away from all of them.
- 955701, on 02/29/2008, -0/+13I don't know, propoganda is how we all got in this mess.... I vote Fox with an AT&T and Diebold tie at a close second.

- BillGod, on 02/29/2008, -6/+2AT&T is by far the worst. The last company I was at was installing 3 AT&T T1's when I started. They signed the paper work 6 times!! I am not kidding on that. They lost it 2x fired the sales rep 1/2 through 1x. fired a guy at the data entry and left it on his desk for 6 months. and 3 times had them sign the wrong paper work.. 1x was the old paper work. 2x it was totally the wrong paper work. If there was another option they would have changed companies but due to the remote location that's all they had. I worked there for 2 years and when I left they STILL had not completed everything. The lines were put in and functional right after I started. The 2 year contract was already up and the original paper work still was not done.
- TheUngod, on 02/29/2008, -4/+2It's a little sad to see AT&T only at 5% on that list. Do people not realize what they've done, or is AT&T flooding the site with votes against anyone but them?
- gameforge, on 02/29/2008, -1/+5Some people don't feel threatened by domestic spying because they don't conduct private business over the phone. Any other company that poses a more direct aggravation to someone's everyday life might be more hated by that someone.
- Napoleone, on 02/29/2008, -0/+3"Some people don't feel threatened by domestic spying because they don't conduct private business over the phone."
But they conduct it over the Internet, do they not? It's not just phone calls that are getting tapped, it's ALL Internet communications: e-mail, searches, websites visited, purchases made, reservations booked... ALL OF IT.- gameforge, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1True, but the point stands - for whatever reason, people don't feel as threatened by that as they do by other companies, whatever the reason.
- Napoleone, on 02/29/2008, -0/+3"Some people don't feel threatened by domestic spying because they don't conduct private business over the phone."
- TheUngod, on 02/29/2008, -0/+3Unfortunately that's the mentality behind "I'm not doing anything illegal, so sure you can search me." The point isn't that you're doing something wrong, it's that your rights are being violated. Maybe it's just me (and 5% of other people) but having my rights violated is more aggravating than throttling my internet.
- unreg, on 02/29/2008, -2/+1More like most people see the whole ATT thing as just another overblown, hyped up issue.
Basically all smoke, no fire
- gameforge, on 02/29/2008, -1/+5Some people don't feel threatened by domestic spying because they don't conduct private business over the phone. Any other company that poses a more direct aggravation to someone's everyday life might be more hated by that someone.
- shaka776, on 02/29/2008, -1/+4Gotta go with AT&T. I had the same cell number for 8 years. They lost it. They don't know how, but it just got erased out of their system. And since my wife's and my mom's were all on the same plan, they lost theirs, too. Gone forever. Some people with Tracfones started getting our calls. They never could explain it, and they couldn't get our numbers back.
- kaelyiesta, on 02/29/2008, -1/+2Losing someones number is not even in the same league as some of the atrocities other businesses have committed. Personal inconvenience is one thing, sponsoring wars and propaganda to support those wars is a bit worse. If you had mentioned something about wiretapping then perhaps I'd agree but if you think the worst company is one who loses your phone number then you are leaving in a dream.
- leopardflames, on 02/29/2008, -4/+3I had to call AT&T with a complaint because despite the fact my last name is Hispanic, I don't speak any Spanish. I was a little peeved at getting junk mail from them that was COMPLETELY in Spanish.
- unreg, on 02/29/2008, -4/+1Oh God, the horror!!
- danielpyle, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1try calling their customer service...you must speak Hindi or something to figure them out..
- tme2k24, on 02/29/2008, -7/+1You guys are all ***** retarded. ATT isn't THAT bad (I've been with them for several years) - the only thing they've done was ***** up on my last 18 paychecks. (which they are starting to fix slowly). But otherwise than that, they're great.
- Napoleone, on 02/29/2008, -2/+1You're a ***** moron. No one gives a ***** about your ***** paychecks. Go suck the nut that feeds you, while it ***** your neighbors in the ass, *****.
- grungegbunny, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1Let me tell you the reason why AT&T is picked. AT&T let the govt eavesdrop on US citizens in the name of the "War on Terror".
- TnTBass, on 02/29/2008, -0/+8Currently:
Comcast - 20%
Fox News - 8%
Wall Mart - 7% - lougoose, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1Yeah, sorry. AT&T is bad (for cooperating with illegal activity), but Comcast is so much worse. At least AT&T has good service (relatively). When I call Comcast, nobody has any idea what the ***** is going on.

- swrostmore, on 02/29/2008, -2/+40"Fox News" isn't a corporation, its called Newscorp.
- Netrilix, on 02/29/2008, -0/+14Heh, they're two separate options on the poll. I voted for News Corp, and it's only at 1% because everyone knows it as Fox News.
- SwedishNinja, on 02/29/2008, -7/+6Case in point: People don't know jack ***** and only go along with popular opinion. OMG FAUX NEWZ IS EVIL LOLL
- haydesigner, on 02/29/2008, -0/+5How does not knowing their parent company make Fox News NOT bad?
- knowstoomuch, on 02/29/2008, -2/+1Fox News, has a conservative bias, so what. I do not see anyone complaining about all the Liberal Mainstream Media outlets. Fox News reports the facts like it or not. The other news outlets report what fits the agenda. I watch all of the news channels, and I get things from FOX that I do not get from the others, but it is never the other way around.
- 3HackBug77, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1@haydesigner
it doesn't make them not bad, it just means that most of the problems with Fox can be more correctly associated with NewsCorp. Don't get me wrong, Fox news IS BAD, and seriously biased, but NewsCorp are the ones above them, and so should be more deserving of the blame
- SwedishNinja, on 02/29/2008, -7/+6Case in point: People don't know jack ***** and only go along with popular opinion. OMG FAUX NEWZ IS EVIL LOLL

- whitesaint, on 02/29/2008, -4/+8Right now Fox News is at 6%. Comcast and AT&T may be bad companies, but I don't think they are deplorable as FOX News. They commit the highest crime: brainwashing older folks and hijacking democracy; now that should be Treason! Especially when older folks rely on traditional news to make up their minds. And let's face it, senior citizens are the ones who do the voting a lot more than young people.
- stretch611, on 02/29/2008, -0/+2Yes, but you need to choose Diebold. That is the company that records everyone's vote. And recording the votes is more powerful than brainwashing the voters.
- p51d007, on 03/01/2008, -0/+2spoken by a true commie lib.........If you do not like fox DON'T WATCH IT. I don't force you to watch it, and I wouldn't want you to force me to watch the daily show, ABC,NBC,CNN,CBS, PBS. So shut the f*** up.
- MyNameIsJoe, on 02/29/2008, -3/+7Had to go with News Corp. Fox News sucks, but so does MySpace. By picking News Corp. I get to say that they both suck.
- 3HackBug77, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1Amen Brother. IMO Fox shouldn't even be on that poll, they are really just the puppets of NewsCorp.
- PolishLogic, on 02/29/2008, -5/+5Yep, just as much as CNN and MSNBC. Reason: horrid bias in their reporting.
- TalenGTP, on 02/29/2008, -1/+7It never ceases to amaze me how liberals, who think of themselves as champions of the right to free speech, wish to squelch anyone who doesn't fall in line with their way of thinking (and I use the term thinking very loosely).

- Zera, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1Yes, totally deaf people can and do drive all the time. All emergency vehicles also have very unique flashing lights, so I don't doubt that driver training for the deaf focuses on other skills to be aware of the surroundings, but my neighbor drives to work every day, and he was born deaf, so it's not like he got his license before he went deaf.

DeBeers. Short of Haliburton you cannot get more evil then DeBeers- culbeda, on 03/01/2008, -0/+2Ooh, good point. I hadn't thought about them. I think people should be able to pick 5. Although I'd have trouble picking only 5 with so many to choose from: DeBeers, Haliburton, Comcast, AT&T, Walmart, SONY, Ticketmaster, etc.
And some of the ones on that list are baffling. Papa Johns? Yeah, they're slow as hell, but EVIL?

- RealmDown, on 02/29/2008, -1/+15But it would be blocked since it would constitute a torrent of activity.
- jeremyduffy, on 02/29/2008, -0/+10Just out of curiosity, where does the "I see what you did there" meme come from? I can usually look up the ones I don't know, but that one's so popular that it's freaking EVERYWHERE thus obscuring any chance of me finding a page that describes it rather than just uses it.
- fwuzzle, on 02/29/2008, -7/+1That's not a meme. It's a phrase.
You notice how you see it OFF THE INTERNET???- noumuon, on 02/29/2008, -1/+7i think you need to look up the definition of the word meme.
- krnldmp, on 02/29/2008, -3/+4It came from buttplugs.
- noumuon, on 02/29/2008, -2/+2futurama
- RudeTurnip, on 02/29/2008, -2/+2I think it has something to do with a picture of Fry from Futurama...the top half of the pic has his eyes wide open and the caption says "OH!". The bottom half shows his eyes squinted saying "I see what you did there." The pic shows up in damn near every thread on Fark.
- fwuzzle, on 02/29/2008, -7/+1That's not a meme. It's a phrase.

Blackwater, and the hundreds of "consultancies" that profit from fear mongering and the billions disappearing from the budgets every year- RealmDown, on 02/29/2008, -0/+6We'll post those as soon as we can get through their lobbyists.
- kaelyiesta, on 02/29/2008, -0/+3This list is absurd. People are complaining about petty things that(while worth of condemnation) aren't even close to the businesses profiting from war and other unforgivable crimes.
Heres my ***** list. As much as I hate walmart for its exploitative worker practices, comcast and the telcos for all the illegal ***** they have done, government back illegal monopolies, underpaid workers and wiretapping dont come close to stealing tax money for the intended purpose of ending an occupation only to intentionally squander it, resulting in more dead and wounded every ***** day in a country already breaking apart in a slow simmering civil war.

- Joshuarr, on 02/29/2008, -2/+24You mean FTL.
- FriedTurkey, on 02/29/2008, -3/+5No problems with Best Buy. Stuff is cheap. I don't care about much else. I get Reward Zone credits. Doesn't matter to me if the employees there are douche bags. Most of the time you don't have to talk to them.
- KennMac, on 02/29/2008, -2/+2So as long as they're keeping you happy, you don't give a ***** what goes on behind the scenes and with other customers? Classic problem with America today which is a mirror of how we see our government and society.
- goomba323, on 02/29/2008, -1/+4Maybe I'm missing something, but why is Best Buy all that bad?
- ezco506th, on 02/29/2008, -2/+1You've obviously never worked for that ***** up company, I know several people that have and their stories make me sick to my stomach.
- goomba323, on 02/29/2008, -0/+4Well go ahead...tell me a story about Best Buy that makes me sick to my stomach. I've heard it isn't the best place to work, but I've never heard of anything TOO horrific.

- Spor, on 02/29/2008, -0/+4I'm guessing you worked there? Anyone who has worked there despises best buy. They know the company for the brainwashing customer ***** corporation it is. Not gonna lie, I still buy from there sometimes though.
- ezco506th, on 02/29/2008, -2/+1I will never buy from them, knowing what I know about that company. NEVER. The only reason I would ever walk in there is to once in a while shop for pricing. I know how they match their prices electronically to match Circuit City. Almost precisely. I just get my hands on the product, chat them up, and then thank them, "I'm going to go across the way and buy it at Circuit City". Thanks. If a manager is around, I get to have more fun.
- ceralor, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1Less brainwashing of customers and more of the employees. I've never felt so ackward about dissenting in my life. I tell people I'm looking at a different computer repair place and they avoid me like I've got the plague.

- DeviateSeptum, on 02/29/2008, -2/+30I sent flowers by 1-800 once to a girl while I was out of the country. I got delivery confirmation. I thought it strange that the girl didn't mention it to me but I didn't want to bring it up. I didn't find out until after I got back that they delivered the dozen roses to the wrong address (there mistake, not mine, as they had the correct address). They would not give me a refund either saying it had been too long. To hell with them. It was like $56 if I remember correctly.

- MasteRR, on 03/01/2008, -0/+4Dude, he didn't say "but". This is no comparison. His flowers situation is completely independent of AT&T. There is no Hitler vs Clinton argument.
- SuperMoses, on 03/01/2008, -1/+1@MasteRR: He was responding the the post that asked who would vote for 1-800-flowers...as if his response justifies someone voting for that company over AT&T

- deeboe, on 02/29/2008, -2/+8I voted for them! I had $150 flowers sent to my girlfriend for Valentine's Day this year and they showed up dead! When I complained, I was basically told to go ***** myself with a rose thorn!
- simile, on 02/29/2008, -1/+5Would you still be alive if someone cut your stem off?
- heliox, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1Dude! Same here!! The delivering company left them on the door step at 645pm on the 14th. At a business!! Needless to say, they were gone in the AM. I called the company in the AM they said they'd rush over and deliver more. At 5pm they had not left yet. I told THEM where they can shove the roses, and did a charge back on my credit card.
- antiorblkflag9, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1Sounds fun
- pjs1840, on 02/29/2008, -0/+8GLAD YOU ASKED! I voted for 1-800-Flowers due to my miserable experience with them last year. See http://digg.com/business_finance/1_800_FLOWERS_com ...
- Harelin, on 02/29/2008, -0/+3I ordered flowers from them to be delivered on someone's birthday about 20 days away, and they delivered it the next day after I'd ordered. It ruined any surprise, but they did deliver a second bouquet again on the day of the birthday... without my even having to ask. I think a lot of it depends on the local vendors that they depend on to distribute the flowers, though.
- smergs, on 02/29/2008, -0/+2Last year on Valentines day my then girlfriend (now wife) didn't get her flowers. They simply didn't show up. I called and complained and got my money back. What girl would have wanted flowers the day after??? Screw 1-800-flowers!!! That said, they aren't the worst. You only get to vote for what you think is worse so I voted for something else.
- triad203, on 03/01/2008, -0/+11-800-FLOWERS is one of the worst web vendors I have ever used. And I have used thousands. Avoid them, just call your local florist instead. Even FTD has problems getting things delivered reliably on busy days (think Valentine's day).
- Kyburo, on 02/29/2008, -17/+2I'm not American so it's hard for me to complain about a service I don't receive, but I watch a lot of Air Crash Investigation, so I voted United Airlines...

- CrazedLeper, on 02/29/2008, -0/+5'Fraid I'm going to have to disagree. Although Comcast is making great strides toward becoming a moral black hole, AT&T has a commanding lead mostly due to a 100 year head-start.
- skyshock1, on 02/29/2008, -1/+3You're right. Paying an extra $10 per month for Internet is way worse than all the atrocities of slavery in Africa DeBeers has spawned, or the war-profiteering of Haliburton.

- MaximusD, on 02/29/2008, -1/+7I looked for them too. Definitely the worst. Spying (ATT) is bad, but doesn't approach war profiteering. I voted for DeBeers -- it's a corrupt cartel that violates human rights. Maybe not as bad as Halliburton, but it was the worst on the list.

- hobbitsareneat, on 02/29/2008, -3/+4Lol. Me too.
- senatorpjt, on 03/01/2008, -0/+2The name of the poll is "worst company in America". It doesn't specify whether "worst" means the most evil (probably not Microsoft) or just most annoying (which i'd vote for)
- smotpoker, on 03/01/2008, -0/+3True, the term worst is subjective when used without specific contextual reference. Microsoft is worst in several ways, including wasting time and money for millions of business and users. They have also put quite a few businesses down and stifled innovation in various ways, both direct and indirect.
I vote Microsoft based primarily on the sheer number of people negatively affected both in and out of the US, but really I didn't even look at most of the list or anyone else's choices so I guess there might be some worse ones out there...

- wave789, on 02/29/2008, -0/+3FOX is owned by Viacom? Was this reported on Faux News, or did you read it on Digg?
- cderry, on 02/29/2008, -0/+6Fox is owned by Newscorp, which is also on the list.
- skyshock1, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1Yeah, Damn comcast always charging people too much for Internet. That totally pales in comparison to the African Human Meat Grinder that is the DeBeers diamond trade. I'd much rather be sold into indentured servitude to be maimed or worse than pay an extra $10 per month for Internet or have to get up to flip the channel off of Fox News.
- Ell3, on 02/29/2008, -20/+7This will no doubt be a favorite of America's liberal Socialists/Marxists that populate digg. They hate capitalism, but absolutely adore their beloved government bureaucracies. They hate Exxon for making a $0.10 profit on a gallon of gasoline, after spending billions of dollars on exploration, transportation and refining costs, yet they have no problem with government bureaucrats making a $0.50 profit on that same gallon of gas, for doing nothing.
- Dumbledorito, on 02/29/2008, -2/+6I hate whoever your ISP is. :)
- mythicflux, on 02/29/2008, -0/+5It's probably Comcast.
- Ell3, on 02/29/2008, -4/+1Why is that?
- Dumbledorito, on 02/29/2008, -1/+5Swing and a miss.
- thedogfatherx, on 02/29/2008, -1/+1Ahh yes.....indeed.
- Kerrigore, on 02/29/2008, -1/+10Yes... corporations can always be trusted, but the government never can. Turn everything over to corporations. Give them all your money and get rid of the government. We can have private armies, private police forces, private firefighters, and so on! It will be glorious!
- Ell3, on 02/29/2008, -4/+3You don't need to "trust" corporations. The free market will take care of weeding out the bad ones. What weeds out the bad, ineffective government bureaucracies? Answer: No one. Ineffective and inefficient government bureaucracies just keep getting more money. Ineffective and inefficient corporations die.
- CourtesyFlush, on 02/29/2008, -3/+3The kiddies apparently don't want to hear the truth.
- EtherGnat, on 02/29/2008, -0/+4Yes, corporations are ruthlessly efficient, but that doesn't mean they can't be evil. Some things are more important than the bottom line. It's better for the government to handle some of those cases
- Ell3, on 02/29/2008, -2/+1I agree with you. There are some things your government should handle and I believe they're enumerated in your Constitution. The rest should be left to the free markets. The free markets are not perfect, as demonstrated by Enron, but they're far better than the alternative.
- Dumbledorito, on 02/29/2008, -0/+2Their efficiency only goes so far. Hence the goldan parachutes for the executives who make bad decisions and the cutting of benefits/salaries of those not in the boardroom. These days, loyalty isn't rewarded; long-timers cost too much and are replaced. Promotion from within has all but ended, meaning that if you aren't laid off you're stuck where you are for the lifetime of your employment.
In short, we've become to beholden to stockholders, we've forgotten that business is also about producing something of quality (be it a good or a service), and decisions are being made by people with either no knowledge of or love of the company they've been put in charge of. Business is in business to get bought out and have the founder retire; long-gone is the day of wanting to make a good life by building a better mousetrap. - senatorpjt, on 03/01/2008, -1/+2*****. The free market favors the most evil corporations. The only time any of them get "weeded out" is when they get caught... by the government.
- halobender, on 02/29/2008, -3/+2You are an idiot.
Record profits for oil companies in the last year or so. They bellyache while raking it in. Exxon won't pay for it's damage in Alaska which we all pay for over time.
The war is going to cost literally tons of money, Mr W bush started it, and lied about it. He also has created entirely new bureaucracies in his war on terror. - daizy82683, on 02/29/2008, -0/+0wanted corporate responsibility is not a socialist principle. I am a free market capatalist who is disgusted by some of the actions by these corporations. We have never actually had a truly capatalist society and the behaviour of some of these companies is far from capitalism. But hey, when your argument doesn't work and someone disagrees with you, just resort to name calling. That's a sound argument.
- TalenGTP, on 02/29/2008, -1/+2It's trendy to be liberal/leftist these days. It takes very little thought. All you need to know is Bush is evil, I hate my own country, and freedom of speech for everyone except Fox news.

- hyperkill, on 02/29/2008, -7/+15I voted for Hewlett Packard. Whenever I would call them for customer service I could NEVER get someone who speaks fluent english. It was always some guy who called himself Michael but you know that's not his ***** name. Then, I ask him if I can get an American and he says that if I keep calling back maybe I'll get one eventually. The few times I have called the employee helping me is so unintelligent that giving them my phone number is like pulling teeth. How can you ***** up every single number and call yourself customer service? Seriously, ***** HP. /rant
- Ell3, on 02/29/2008, -10/+1You better get used to it, we're letting millions of them into America every year. By 2025 they will be the majority.
- badqat, on 02/29/2008, -1/+9Your racist rant aside, get a grip. These calls go to centers in India...those jobs were outsourced long ago...not to the "millions" we're letting into the United States.
- joshuajonah, on 02/29/2008, -1/+8Yeah, i understand your tech support woes and even your blatant racism, but are you sure that is the worst company? What about the ones who wiretap you? or filter your internet? or sensationalize your news?
There are worse things in the world than talking to people who actually have just as hard of a time understanding your accent.
Speak out for something thats worth it. - Triterion, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1Try calling close to midnight, India is at least 12 hours ahead of the US so you'll get someone during the day and not some overloaded assistant on the graveyard shift.

- Unclekoolaid, on 02/29/2008, -0/+12I voted AT&T for charging me $120 ($80+late fees and charges) for a POS dsl modem that i returned after a week because they couldn't get my service to work.
- evantalyan, on 02/29/2008, -0/+0same thing happened to me. I waited 2 months to get my service working through the 1 free month, and then into 1 paid month. once I started paying for service I didn't have I canceled. I opted to keep their stupid modem and not return it.. since it's all I had.
- onetimer, on 02/29/2008, -1/+34Voted for ComCast because of their anti-net-neutrality bandwidth-throttling *****.
- thirdeyeopen, on 02/29/2008, -0/+3Me too, and also the fact that I have yet to be able to order a fight on Pay Per View without having to call the 1 800 number and tell someone to actually turn it on after I've paid for it. I expect I'll have to do the same tomorrow for the UFC fight.
- diggmaddy, on 02/29/2008, -0/+6AT&T is a bigger lobbier against Net Neutrality than any other company in the world. Comcast does it just within their network, but AT&T goes all the way to the top to buy the government against it. Now THAT influences almost everybody, not just one ISP.
- appletoapple, on 02/29/2008, -5/+8Verizon can suck it!
- hobbitsareneat, on 02/29/2008, -3/+4What's bad about Verizon?
- ben162005, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1i have had Verizon for 3-4 years now and have never had any problems until they recently decided to charge $1.99 a megabyte. downloading a 'free' app on Get it Now costs me $1.99 and if i download a $2.99 ringtone I'm charged an additional $1.99 for the megabyte usage. so that has made me a bit angry at them.
- Parr0t21, on 02/29/2008, -0/+2I have had Verizon Fios TV&IP for years now and compared to Comcast they are saints.
- hobbitsareneat, on 02/29/2008, -3/+4What's bad about Verizon?
- Herostratus, on 02/29/2008, -1/+14Fox News got my vote but runners up were Walmart, Ford, Halliburton and Blackwater.
Congratulations to Comcast for its whopping 20% of malcontents over these other magnificent contenders. - Dumbledorito, on 02/29/2008, -0/+4On a personal level, I despise TXU. They basically told me that the fraudster who posed as me and skipped out on his bill would have to be arrested before they'd take the bill out of collections.
- NoNamesLeft, on 02/29/2008, -4/+20My vote goes to Exxon, they have had 20 years to re-address the citizens of Valdez for the damage they caused to their jobs and environment, and so far they haven't gotten a cent. Oil is still present if you just take a few rocks away from the surface. They are the most evil ***** corporation on the face of the Earth and it will set a precedent for corporate irresponsibility unlike no other if the punitive damages are thrown out (from a 20 YEAR court case - a generation!). If any board of directors needed to be shot in public it would these guys.
- mrgreenjeans9, on 02/29/2008, -1/+3i would like to subscribe to your newsletter
- geehossiphats, on 02/29/2008, -1/+3You mean like addressing the citizens of New Orleans who take take take and demand more and sue sue sue and STILL don't have any intention to better their lives? Gimme gimme gimme more more more! Get over it.
- amightywind, on 02/29/2008, -5/+2How much will it take? The damage from the spill was minimal and was been adequately addressed 19 years ago! How much does it cost to clean the oil off of a few otters? A lot, I guess, if you are a liberal activist who believes someone else owes them a living. I am glad I own Exxon stock. Each uptick in the price of gas earns be beaucoup bucks!

- thedogfatherx, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1Haha....god all software companies usually suck. Majority of their customer service blows. I have to deal with them everyday. NOT FUN.
- nmnnotmyname, on 02/29/2008, -3/+1Symantec sucks because of customer service, but also sucks because Norton slows down everything to hell.
I voted Microsoft, because there's more than one reason why I use Linux. (Not so much against windows, except WPA, Vista, just Microsoft.) But there were some dishonorable mentions for me - Comcast is one of them for sure, but come on, they get enough votes. Microsoft has done some pretty unethical ***** before (and even recently) too.

- salinemist, on 02/29/2008, -0/+4We should be using DDT. Liberals have killed millions in Africa.
- pingwax, on 02/29/2008, -0/+3DDT has significant benefits. Because it is relatively harmless to humans, it can be sprayed inside homes where Malaria and other insect borne diseases are rampant. By killing mosquitoes inside the home, they can dramatically reduce the spread of these diseases.
As with most complicated issues, responsibility and planning make a difference. - senatorpjt, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1Agent Orange was invented to kill weeds. It was the government's decision to spray it on people.
- laughandsing, on 02/29/2008, -0/+4BB&T should have been on there! They suck.
- Triterion, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1Yeah, they do- but they're only on the East coast. I was in there one day and this lady was having a fit because she had cash and they wouldn't credit her account with it until the following Monday and she needed to write a check with it. Even the manager wouldn't let it happen, she kept saying that it's "policy"... It's not like CASH has to clear like a CHECK does! RETARDED
- tonytonytiger, on 03/21/2008, -0/+0BB&T is the spawn of satan. They SUCK. Like most everyone else who has been forced into being a BB&T "client" my nice local bank was overtaken by BB&T, they ruined it, fast. Late charges(when i never had them before i.e. not my fault), FEES, FEES and more FEES, changes of my address in their system were firth bad signs, then the screwing began. I had many business loans with my old bank which got taken over....that whole exp has been a nightmare. a simple loan renewal went to from a 3 minute phone call and dropping by the bank sign the papers to a full 3 month quagmire wiht many assign phone calls papers due like a childs homework, being told with we ready to sign only to be beaten around the bushes for weeks and weeks more to come and on and on...keeping my business partner and myself in constant flux while they messed around. they 3 months later we just signed the simple renewal papers today. but this far from done because they were dishonest about the date we signed up and back dated it as to look like they had their paper work done ontime. hmmm, ok. well, not ok because it steals time from us before our next round and renewal fees. secondly, it prolonged our previous higher interest rate until today so that means they what to act like we signed papers weeks ago to shorten our loan time and make my loan officer look like he was "on top of things" all the while yet, they wanted charge the interest at the higher rate until today. that fuzzy math, BB&T style. i will be delimbing them on this point tomorrow, i only regret having to wait all night to it. i will be having a huge F* BB&T party when i finally am able to close out my final two loans with them and close my account. Your all invited.
- mrgreenjeans9, on 02/29/2008, -10/+9it's a tough choice but i'm not going to think global on this one, i'm going to pick the company that has the most negative impact on my day to day life and that's microsoft. f'ing horrible in every way possible
- uziko, on 02/29/2008, -6/+2i can't digg you down enough, YOU ARE AN IDIOT
- lazyfisherman, on 02/29/2008, -2/+0Yeah but ASP.NET, C# and Visual Studio are pretty good. There are worse companies than MS roaming around these days.
- aywwts4, on 03/01/2008, -1/+2Even if all those programs were the best programs in the entire world, ever, for all time, angels sing when you tear the shrink wrap.
I think I can safely pull a number out of my ass and proclaim 99% of users will never use any of those programs, But the majority of computer consumers will soon have Vista inflicted upon them, whether they like it or not, and that is a really good reason to vote for Microsoft. ( I voted to AT&T, and I'm running vista 64bit with 4 driver errors upon boot, hard drives that can spin down less than a minute after being accessed, driver errors on every resume, and a pile of peripherals that can no longer be connected to my computer, Simply because of the forced "Driver verification" BS.

Local Governments take care of your streets, your schools, your police & fire departments, etc.
The federal government is responsible for wars, a broken Social Security program, misc. subsidies, our $9,200,000,000,000 national debt. and basically all the other stuff that doesn't work.
- ericdano, on 02/29/2008, -2/+1Citibank. They really suck. Their interest rates are WAY to high.

- cpussman, on 02/29/2008, -8/+30BEST ***** BUY. Worst place I have ever worked.
Daily:
1.) GM touching and flirting with the teenage girls (he was married had 3 kids)
2.) Managers were ***** suckers who kissed so much corp. ass
3.) Money was 1st, customer satisfaction was 2nd
4.) Threaten to fire you
5.) No breaks, sometimes you get a lunch.
God I hate that place.
Now that I look back on it, I should have stole something(s).- drmangrum, on 02/29/2008, -1/+6It's federal law for companies to post the states employment laws in an employee common area. - dracflamloc, on 02/29/2008, -0/+4Georgia has no such law. In fact there isn't even a required lunch break law
- cpussman, on 02/29/2008, -0/+4Easier said then done.

- MasteRR, on 02/29/2008, -2/+9I voted Fox News but there are so many on that list I would want to vote for in addition. News Corp, MS, AT&T, Comcast, and a lot of others.
Also, there are a few that I would like added to the list. RIAA, MPAA, AOL/Time Warner, Apple, and several others.- johnnyb3, on 02/29/2008, -0/+3The RIAA and MPAA aren't companies but trade groups (this didn't stop the consumerist from putting them in last year though).

And the RIAA is nothing more than 4 big guys (and lots of little guys) who are all equally evil in their own regard. Why split up the votes. :-P- MasteRR, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1Now that I think about it maybe it would have been easier to vote for companies who are NOT evil. :-P

- ksitzes, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1I noticed that as well, sadly companies like Wal-Mart, (even though they are the suxxors) are so cheap a lot of people can't afford to go anywhere else. I won't shop there though, had one of the most horrible experiences of my life with them. They are by far the worst company for me.
- z28com, on 02/29/2008, -6/+12All of the companies there suck but NONE OF THEM have been as bad as Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart has come into numerous communities and totally wiped out the economy out of a single town sucking it dry leaving no good paying jobs behind. Entire mom & pop hardware stores and other businesses who have been in business up to 50-60 years are now gone all due to the NAFTA signed by Clinton that allows Wal-Mart to import tons of cheap, low quality stuff that is unfair to competition. People that were working in these small towns all across America who were making $10-25/hr. are now unemployed, hence the recession and cost of living being way out of balance that you see now.

It is because it is one of the most ignorant practices going on by seemingly intelligent people in the country and people who jump onto the hate walmart bandwagon should maybe consider doing more research.- ktk1336, on 02/29/2008, -1/+4This is where you are supposed to present your counter argument. I'm with you, but it would be helpful to explain why the Wally World haters are wrong?
- jisc123, on 02/29/2008, -0/+6as a college student, with my on campus job(making minimum wage) I find myself happy with what Walmart has to offer. However, the problem I really have with Walmart is that it causes a massive reliance on China. Sure, we get everything for less, but in the end we hurt ourselves. We lost the understanding that you should always Export more than you Import!
- AGHatecraft, on 02/29/2008, -2/+4I have to agree with the OP. WalMart is responsible for the destruction of a lot of independent business, and helps to handicap many of the potential middle class job opportunities at the same time.
- insanebrain, on 02/29/2008, -6/+1So now Wal-Mart is the reason of the recession . .. pfffffff. .. stupid americans. . .you never learn.
- haterofps3, on 02/29/2008, -6/+2I got no grips with Wal-Mart's corporate plans and goals, I hate mom and pops stores if I want to get raped while buying some thing I know where Best buy is!
They treat their staff like *****! No duh have you meet the staff they are dumb as *****! Not their fault I know but I don't go there for their customer service I go there for their cheep *****!- gl77, on 03/31/2008, -0/+2is this some lost attempt at sarcasm? buried.
- dillibob, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1what do you have against safeway?
- gl77, on 03/31/2008, -0/+1Smitty's Hardware Store in Anytown, USA pays $10-$25 per hour? really? i think not.
Ive worked for a couple mom and pop places and you're lucky to get minimum wage. wal-mart at least pays fairly decent according to the people that i know that have worked there. $9-$10 per hour starting out is not unheard of there.
Dont get me wrong though, wal; mart is an evil, dastardly company, but at least they dont pay bare minimum wage
- uziko, on 02/29/2008, -9/+8wal mart is the best company ever, they have the best prices, they get all of my business i don't shop anywhere else, i like paying less for the same thing
- d3dm, on 02/29/2008, -8/+6Who else thinks the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) should have made that list?
- br0pbr0p, on 02/29/2008, -1/+7Maybe it isn't a company?
- dracflamloc, on 02/29/2008, -3/+7Maybe it isnt a legal government body either.... so what is it?
- neodorian, on 02/29/2008, -6/+3I smell a Paulbot
- dracflamloc, on 02/29/2008, -3/+7Maybe it isnt a legal government body either.... so what is it?
- daizy82683, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1It absolutely should be on the list whether its a company or not. It is an unconstitutional organization if anyone cares about the constitution anymore.
- DrPaul2008, on 02/29/2008, -0/+2I agree with the hatred of the IRS. It's an unconstitutional government agency, but it's not a private company. The Federal Reserve Bank, however is unconstitutional, and a private company, and the reason why the IRS can function. Plus, it steals from us in ways that the IRS can't.
- AmericansRevolt, on 03/01/2008, -0/+2The whole system is *****. our constitution is nothing more then a piece of paper in a museum. it means nothing. im actually pissed off i spent all of 8th grade learning it. WASTE OF ***** TIME. this is NOT a free country.

- fani, on 02/29/2008, -5/+61. Verizon
2. Comcast
3. Bank of America
Rest are ok in my book.- MasteRR, on 02/29/2008, -1/+7All of the rest are ok? Are you sure? If I could vote multiple times half the list would get votes from me.
- kjcdude, on 03/01/2008, -0/+2what has verizon done lately?
- MasteRR, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1Hidden bandwidth caps? Opposes net neutrality? Claims Linux doesn't support tables in browsers? Horrible wireless carrier practices? Other general douche-bagginess?
- MasteRR, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1OMG, I can't believe I forgot about them working with the NSA to wiretap their customers.

- Raptor007, on 02/29/2008, -10/+10I'm surprised people don't hate Sony more.
- br0pbr0p, on 02/29/2008, -1/+7Looking at the list, there are a lot worse ones imo.
- deaftly, on 02/29/2008, -1/+9which company in AMERICA......
- SilentRamble42, on 02/29/2008, -2/+2Like Nintendo?
- heartsblood, on 02/29/2008, -0/+4I had no idea Sony was an American company. You learn something new every day.
- J4k3, on 02/29/2008, -2/+3Of course they don't. Only some upset Xbox 360 fan boys who can't play with their console due to the RROD syndrome hate Sony this much.
- smergs, on 02/29/2008, -1/+1I still dislike them over that root kit thing myself. But then again, they still don't belong on the list because they are not an American company.
- chevyorange, on 02/29/2008, -1/+1Blu-Ray, they're winners now! hahaha
- dmjarrington, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1Who cares about Sony when America is being sold out from under its' people? People hate Sony for stupid reasons.
