Rat problem. Piss and ***** everywhere. Rent increased, possibly illegal. This city is crumbling. - ZhiZaki, on 04/27/2009, -0/+120So it smells, the kitchen is "putrid", rats, feces, urine and a crazy landlord. Do you need anymore hints to move or is there something else going on?
- Xaevier, on 04/27/2009, -1/+102Sence? Also that last poster makes it sound like she filed an eviction notice "Against us rats"
- inactive, on 04/27/2009, -1/+97They'll look up and shout "Move!" And I'll look down and whisper "no."
- superkendall, on 04/27/2009, -6/+91You are living with rats, urine and rent that is too high. Do you:
A) move the hell out.
B) put up a bunch of signs in your window as your health deteriorates (even more from the reduced sunlight) and your bank account drains.
I guess we know what a San Franciscan's answer is! Gotta keep those rent controlled apartments!! - Puttzy, on 04/27/2009, -3/+65Next sign . . . . . "Tennants no do speel good"
- yocouchdigga, on 04/27/2009, -0/+55Beneath me, this awful city, it screams like an abattoir full of retarded children. San Fransisco. Somebody knows why. Down there... somebody knows. The dusk reeks of rat feces and bad consciences. I believe I should post another sign.
- woofers07, on 04/27/2009, -1/+46My guess is that the illegal rent increase happened before they moved in and are currently locked in a 12 or 18 month lease. And by the sounds of it I'm sure there's a ridiculous contract breaking fee. Renting sucks.
- Tweets, on 04/27/2009, -0/+44Who the hell would name their kid Lori Lurie?
- inactive, on 04/27/2009, -1/+43People in SF get pissed off, wont take ***** from anyone, and will make their voices heard..... by taping up cardboard signs in their window.. using 2 different colors for effect... WATCH THE ***** OUT
- judicar, on 04/27/2009, -4/+46And yet they've remained there for at least 5 years? ***** move christ.
- Thrustmaster, on 04/27/2009, -8/+46Complain some more. If it's really that big of a problem, leave.
- MoSalim786, on 04/27/2009, -0/+36Anyone need advertising space?
- mmittimm, on 04/27/2009, -0/+31Why did I have to scroll down this far to find a reasonable response to this?
And how do this many people not know that you can't just up and move out when you're renting? - Ribbott, on 04/28/2009, -0/+28Dugg for conflict resolution.
- viggenguy, on 04/27/2009, -1/+27You mean, "Againts us rats," right?
- ShooterMcGavin, on 04/27/2009, -1/+27Bad chicken! Mess you up!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwVCBZHOli4 - 0tis, on 04/27/2009, -1/+26Dugg for "an abbatoir full of retarded children". We're both going to Hell.
- NoCalSF, on 04/27/2009, -0/+24Negative...rent control.
- shadowspawn, on 04/27/2009, -2/+26***** and ***** twice.
I bitched about it for a year. My place was clean. I had chapstick in my dopkit. CHAPSTICK! THEY WENT AFTER CHAPSTICK! They gnawed holes to the cupboards. I put my food in metal tins at the end. Couldn't buy rice. Couldn't buy pasta. Couldn't buy cereal, beans. It was like camping but indoors.
Tired of having a girl over and SNAP in the middle of the night from a trap. Or friends over and while asleep, walking down the hall and seeing a ***** rat grab ***** from the trashcan and drag it across the floor. Lights going out because the rats chewed on the wires. My ***** cable cut from their teeth
I had to take the ***** into my own hands. Traps didn't work. So.... Poison. Poison and more poison. Right before I moved, slight poison with lots of lots of left-out food. Lots of it. Left-over pizza crusts, peanut butter on top of trash bag liners. Food in the bathroom, poisoned. Left all proof on any and all apartment rental sites.
Everything cleaned the day I moved out. It took me almost 6 months to save up for a new security deposit and I had to wait until the end of my lease and I couldn't afford a lawyer.
The rats died. Slowly. After many litters. I heard from the neighbors that the stench from the walls and ceilings made people puke, and the contractors had to rip the walls and most of the ceilings down, replace insulation.
It's now foreclosed.
All I wanted was an exterminator with bait traps around the place. That's all I wanted. - jitterbits, on 04/28/2009, -0/+22Wow, that did NOT come out as I meant it. I'm really sorry. By "you" I meant the people who don't know this, not actually you.
I should have said "how would they". I don't even know how I didn't catch that, but I guess that's probably because I knew what I was thinking.
I am so sorry! - Rain12913, on 04/27/2009, -0/+22Wait a second so it's not the rats who wrote those signs?
- inactive, on 04/27/2009, -0/+20There is nothing like a hand lettered, poorly worded, misspelled sign to make a point.
The point is usually "crazy person made this sign", but a point is made. - vsujohn2, on 04/27/2009, -0/+20Julia Gulia
- janinekahn, on 04/27/2009, -0/+17Rents -are- coming down in SF. Hopefully this person will get a clue.
- inactive, on 04/27/2009, -0/+17Gavin's penthouse is for sale. Top selling point: Imagine the visibility angry signage in those windows would get!
"VALET FOR THIS BUILDING SUCKS. DRIVE TOO FAST AND DO NOT SAY SIR OR MADAM"
"EX TENANT GREEN LIGHTED CONSTRUCTION OF BUILDING WHICH WILL PARTIALLY BLOCK MY VIEW OF BRIDGE" - mmittimm, on 04/28/2009, -1/+16Wow, I sure hope that comment made you feel better about yourself.
- ghounds07, on 04/28/2009, -2/+17except landlords are required to keep certain health codes, and these people might be living at the cheapest place they could find. so should they have to live in a *****?
- Shawn4168, on 04/27/2009, -0/+14I thought the tenants said that the landlord isn't taking care of the rat problem? Sounds to me like the rats are being evicted. Problem solved.

- vsujohn2, on 04/27/2009, -1/+15Don't tell Christ to move.
- MountainGoatMan, on 04/27/2009, -0/+13There's ***** everywhere!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6C9RBMCJOY - DirtPile, on 04/27/2009, -1/+13Try both ears at the same time and see if your fingers touch.
- thegrantman, on 04/27/2009, -0/+12Do the *tenants* not seem too bright to you because they misspell?
- wild, on 04/27/2009, -0/+12Did you ever wonder if women enjoy sex more than men? Wiggle your finger in your ear. Which feels better afterwards?
- Aleut, on 04/27/2009, -3/+15As a renter I can say that renters can be complete idiots. In my old apartment building we started having some problems with mold because moisture from the shower would get trapped in the apartment and drip down the window sills. So what did we do? We cleaned up the mold and made sure the apartment was adequately ventilated after showering, either by running the bathroom fan (which vented to the outside) or opening the windows. Meanwhile my neighbors were writing scathing reviews online about how idiotic the apartment management was for letting mold "get out of hand".
They didn't let the mold get out of hand. *You* did. If you didn't realize there was a problem until your sneakers were eaten through by mold spores then you have some serious housekeeping issues. Same goes for peeling 3 pounds of potatoes into the kitchen sink and then getting surprised when you burn out the disposal motor, or for when you get charged for the water damage to the area around your bathroom sink because you allowed water to sit there for months on end. - morphboy23, on 04/27/2009, -0/+10But she spelled it right in the lower-right poster.. Maybe the crap and piss are getting to her
- ECas123, on 04/27/2009, -0/+10I'll choose B, Regis. Final answer.
- phatfiend, on 04/27/2009, -4/+13From my experience renting and knowing people who rent, it tends to be the same kind of people who get rat problems and usually its because they don't keep their spaces clean. You can't just be a disgusting slob and then complain when you get rats. But then again it may be completely the fault of the owner. The signs make it seem like the rats are a recent problem which points to bad tenant.
- jitterbits, on 04/27/2009, -1/+10Who went to lunch with you?
or
With whom did you go to lunch? - Exclip, on 04/28/2009, -0/+9Amelia Bedelia.
- Pooball, on 04/27/2009, -0/+9More power to them. The tenant may seem strange or ignorant, but it's great retaliation if the landlord is trying to rent out other units.
- ChiaGod, on 04/28/2009, -0/+9D. Get a cat (or two), clean up every once in a while, look up my original lease and fight the rent increases in small claims court.
- deviantsteve, on 04/27/2009, -1/+9Hes desperate to start a trend the majority of his comments are the same thing.
- ECas123, on 04/27/2009, -1/+9How did you make that backwards b?
- cam0man, on 04/27/2009, -0/+8'hey baby, why don't you come up to my place? ...yea, it's the one with the signs in the windows raving about all the rats and piss - just hit the buzzer'
- mmittimm, on 04/28/2009, -2/+10No worries, mistakes happen.
- gatorfree, on 04/27/2009, -3/+11They need do way instain tenant ... who kill their babby
- ehalasey, on 04/28/2009, -0/+8Renting in SF sucks especially hard because it's SO difficult to find a decently-priced place. Seriously. Average rent in SF is at $2300/mo. And we're not talking like you get a huge, three-story Victorian with a big back yard and some awesome The Grateful Dead totally partied here story to go along with it. You usually get a cramped flat with 1-2 bedrooms, almost no direct sunlight (i.e., the light is provided primarily by lightwells, which are a total safety hazard), minimal space, and oh by the way, if you own a car and want a guaranteed space, that's an additional $100-$150/mo.
Add to that the fact that rental capacity has steadily been at ~95% for the past decade or so, and you get slumlord heaven. Just sign your life away, right here, for that ONE place in the neighborhood you want to live in that actually falls into an affordable price range, and watch as the ***** hits the fan.
For such an amazing town to live in, there are a lot of people ready, willing, and able to make a ridiculous profit while disregarding any sense of dignity. - Zomgondo, on 04/28/2009, -0/+7From my experience with landlords I'm going to have to take the side of the tenants here. My last landlord called the ***** EPA on me for doing some black and white photography in the apartment because she was pissed that she had to replace a corroded 40 year old steel drain pipe under my sink... she swore up and down she'd had ALL the drainpipes replaced in the building "two years ago" even when the plumber told both of us point blank that nobody had used steel drainpipe in at least twenty years. Fortunately the EPA told her what I was doing was perfectly legal, but she still continued to act like I was cooking up meth or something.
The one before that was even worse. They tried to sue me for water damage because the creek behind the apt. complex overflowed and flooded it, destroying a bunch of my furniture in the process. They only relented and sent back most of my deposit after I wrote them a long, nasty letter explaining in intricate detail the pictures I'd taken when that happened and how pleased I would be to spend a lot of time with them in court since I was also filing suit against them.
***** landlords... I think I'm going to go find one and punch them in the face now. -
