public domain books, mp3 and ogg formats. all free, volunteer contributions. A few have questionable speech quality, but there's a formal editing process to weed out anything really bad.
also, don't forget mp3splt (google it) to turn the downloaded mp3's into decent sized 'tracks' if your player doesn't retain mid-track position. (splitting to 3-min tracks works for me) - ScotchInBox, on 11/14/2007, -1/+2yes, you can listen to books - wow - amazing - duh. Waste of space - buried
- dtervo, on 11/14/2007, -0/+1I love audiobbooks. I subscribe to Audible and I listen to books during my daily one hour each way commute to work. If it weren't for audibooks, I would lose my mind listening to the mindless drivel on the local radio stations.
- dominoman44, on 11/14/2007, -1/+2Thanks for a very good info article. I know all too well the limitations of trying to find something specific in a store. I live in a small private community and the available selections are very limited. Thanks for sharing.
- rennick, on 11/11/2007, -0/+1I've used Audible for years, and I don't have an iPod (I use a Creative Zen)...
- doublehead, on 11/11/2007, -1/+1The ones listed on the blog are all downloadable in MP3 format. Once you download them you can burn them onto CD or transfer them to your iPod or iTunes.
- FirstDigg, on 11/11/2007, -1/+1Where do you get them though in a nice mp3 format? I've seen sites like audible & itunes, but then you are pretty much stuck to using it with an ipod.
