- doople, on 04/28/2008, -0/+63So maybe there's an off chance that this will actually work and kill a mouse. Cool. Now you have one less mouse, and 50,000 ants in your house. I'll take the mouse thank you.
- Nitro187, on 04/28/2008, -5/+45Does not work... I tried this 5 years ago at my cottage. The dish emptied a bit, but no dead mice.
Buried as inaccurate. - inactive, on 04/28/2008, -10/+40Soft drinks are also known to kill humans...if consumed frequently enough over time. =)
- inactive, on 04/28/2008, -0/+22They could not burp, so they farted.
- Scynet, on 04/28/2008, -1/+22The trick is to make them eat a tablet of Menthos before giving them the coke.
- dazparkour, on 04/28/2008, -2/+20If mice drink coke and die outside, did any mice die at all?
- sonicomega, on 04/28/2008, -0/+16The mice were only taking some off the top to mix with their rum.
- sparsely, on 04/28/2008, -1/+17Trust me, traps are better than the exploding mouse timebomb technique.
This way just gives them time to crawl up in a wall before they die. leaving you with a rotting easter egg to locate.
cheese&spring or glue traps are still the best way. - MattJF317, on 04/28/2008, -0/+15Or, as an alternative method, take a full can of either coke or pepsi (or related products), and when the rats run out throw it at their ass.
- inactive, on 04/28/2008, -0/+15*rat rocket whizzes by*
- inactive, on 04/28/2008, -9/+23***** we use it to kill our kids, might as well through in rats and mice.
- Jwoey, on 04/28/2008, -0/+14because you just found out they're carbonated?
- mevans05, on 04/28/2008, -1/+15this is possibly the worst advice ever. my brother did an experiment with rats years ago. he fed one normally and fed another with soda and junk food. the junk food rat grew twice as fast as the other and ended up breaking into the healthy rat's cage, killed him, and ate much of him! so if you want unstable super rodents go ahead and follow this advice!
- FearFactory, on 04/28/2008, -0/+12I prefer cats doing their own rodent control. Nothing more satisfying than Toonces strolling up to the front door to show off his new toy.
- tmalloy, on 04/28/2008, -0/+12I haven't had a banana in a month. You don't see me bragging about it, 'cause I'm not a food bragger.
- inactive, on 04/28/2008, -0/+11Smash them with a Coke can.
- louiebaur, on 04/28/2008, -2/+12Stupid me I have been using traps the whole time
- blechler, on 04/28/2008, -1/+11That's an urban legend: http://tafkac.org/ulz/nutrasweet.html
- gugin, on 04/28/2008, -0/+9Don't do it! Coke and Pepsi are gateway sodas. Over time it could lead to ...Mt.Dew. Then you'll have a bunch of really jacked up mice.
- phraud, on 04/28/2008, -0/+9I used beer at my cottage. I would leave about a third of the beer in the bottle and put it on the counter before I went to bed. In the morning, there would usually be a mouse, if not TWO dead inside the bottle. I may have simply had a bunch of alcoholic mice, so your mileage may vary.
- FunnelWeaver, on 04/28/2008, -0/+9Yeah, but what people don't understand is once you put out the soft drink and the rodent population is down, ants, among other insects, will be drawn in to the after the sugar in the soda... and ants are a lot harder to get rid of than rodents. It's a lose lose situation.
- boredrph, on 04/28/2008, -2/+11Wait, "illegal amounts of formaldehyde?" There are laws saying how much formaldehyde I can have in my system? Am I going to be arrested?
- inactive, on 04/28/2008, -1/+9Did you bother reading the article? It has nothing to do with toxicity. It's because mice and rats can't burp.
- Slovenian6474, on 04/28/2008, -2/+10So can water
- doctechnical, on 04/28/2008, -0/+8Shroedinger's Cat says Yes and No, at the same time.
- BigglesPiP, on 04/28/2008, -0/+8I call BS, they can still fart!
Now with the addition of a bowl of mentos. - hinchb, on 04/28/2008, -0/+8Now you have an ant problem!
- wbeavis, on 04/28/2008, -0/+7Yeah, but is hard liquor really a good alternative?
- jab9990, on 04/28/2008, -3/+10Not that I believe this, but if it did work it sounds pretty friekin' cruel.
- dazparkour, on 04/28/2008, -1/+8read... article?
- ShempRider, on 04/28/2008, -0/+7Wouldn't Toonces drive his car through your front door?
That's still showing off, but more expensive. - 10001110101, on 04/28/2008, -0/+6Skinner: Ah that's the beauty of the thing, come winter the gorillas will freeze to death.
- bgrah449, on 04/28/2008, -0/+6I want this to be true so badly.
- spyd3rweb, on 04/28/2008, -2/+8Just get a cat.
- FDDIcent, on 04/28/2008, -0/+6Thanks for the completely irrelevant and self-centered comment.
- TH3W1R3D, on 04/28/2008, -2/+8I have SEEN a man soak fries in coke, and feed it to pigeons. The birds die almost instantly. They took off in the air and would almost instantly crash down, dead.
- Scynet, on 04/28/2008, -3/+9Sources or it didn't happen.
- bitterg, on 04/28/2008, -0/+6This is a myth. We tried this with our mice, and nothing every happened except that our mice probably enjoyed a nice beverage.
- Zera, on 04/28/2008, -0/+6The anti-pop theme is getting more and more popular on Digg. This is like the 20th cola myth that is widely known to be false that still makes it to the front page. LOL, just imagine if rats would die just from some gas in their digestion system? ROFL, better not eat any bread then.... anything with some air bubbles contained in the food would also cause this "death by mythology"
This is so asinine. C'mon people, think. Or Digg it and keep promoting your agenda against soda pop with BS rather than the real reasons not to drink soda pop, such as obesity, and diabetes, instead of indirect false BS sensationalism like: "Use Soft Drinks To Kill Mice and Rats" With the inference being, pop is ***** dangerous, when it's really only as dangerous as diets high in sugar or other slightly acidic beverages like citrus juice.

- redxxx, on 04/28/2008, -0/+5That's nothing, I haven't sucked dick for 6 years.
- cricket01, on 04/28/2008, -0/+5Did you try John Goodman?
- theragu40, on 04/28/2008, -0/+5I'm usually not into the whole love the animals thing, but this isn't really a very humane way of killing them. A trap kills them instantly by breaking their neck, whereas this leaves them to slowly bloat to death. That's not to mention how much more of a pain in the ass cleanup would be with this method. A trap, you know exactly where they are, with this they can run off and get gross someone difficult to access. So...where's the benefit in doing this?
- inactive, on 04/28/2008, -0/+5That's only if you mix it witih pop rocks.
- umterpsfan, on 04/28/2008, -2/+7buried for being lame. even if there's some truth to this, the soda would be rendered ineffective once it goes flat, which wouldn't take to long. you'd then be doing nothing but fattening up the infestation in your house.
- inactive, on 04/28/2008, -2/+7Damn you Coca-Cola!
- treatthefeet, on 04/28/2008, -1/+6Rat's may not be able to burp, but they can fart. I highly doubt this would kill any rodents.
