"Officers discovered that he was wearing a bullet-resistant vest and booked him on suspicion of being a felon in possession of body armor. He was also booked on suspicion of possessing a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, resisting arrest and public urination." - Echota, on 01/05/2009, -3/+25When ya gotta go,ya gotta GO!
- inactive, on 08/29/2008, -12/+30If you haven't ever been criminalized, just come to AMerika, we'll make sure you leave with a record and some prison time if possible.
You see AMerika locks up more people for victimless "drug" crimes than any other country on the planet, including countries that President Bush believes need liberating by US armed forces.
The US, "the land of the free," has the biggest prison population in the world and the highest rate of prisoners per capita of all countries
Even China, with one party rule and a population that is 4.5 times larger than the US population, has 30% fewer total prisoners than the US. China’s per capita rate is a small fraction of the US rate.
The US prison population per capita is three times higher than "axis of evil" country Iran, five times higher than Tanzania, and seven times higher than a civilized European country like Germany.
One out of every 142 Americans is in prison – and this does not include military prisons or INS jails.
Meanwhile, police officers are visiting the public schools more often passing out "Officer Friendly" coloring books.
Welcome to our corporate oligarchy which masquerades as a democracy! - dougvfr750, on 08/29/2008, -1/+19There was a guy in Michigan that got placed on a sex offender list for urinating on the side of the road...
- aladrin, on 08/29/2008, -1/+18You guys take not reading the article to a new level. Conspiracy theories and government/country hating while claiming to have common sense... Ugh.
"Officers discovered that he was wearing a bullet-resistant vest and booked him on suspicion of being a felon in possession of body armor. He was also booked on suspicion of possessing a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, resisting arrest and public urination."
He did a little more than piss on the building. He was breaking his parole in many exciting ways. Those were the felonies. - TSK05, on 08/29/2008, -0/+14RTFA.
Buried for sensationalist title and description. - ohnoerino, on 08/28/2008, -1/+11A few of my guys friends were ticketed for this same sort of thing...trying to sneak a leak in the alley whilst intoxicated.
- tcbishop12, on 08/28/2008, -4/+13When the parole order says "Obey all laws" they really do mean "Obey *all* laws".
- borez, on 08/29/2008, -1/+9He also ran away and chucked a gun on the sidewalk.
- jamesdew, on 08/29/2008, -0/+6I live in the UK and I was taking a piss on the side of the road (it was about 2am and I was drunk) and a police car pulled up next to me. The policewoman just said "Put it away and go home" so I did.
- sockpuppets, on 08/29/2008, -4/+10Sorry for the comment abuse but the comments below seem to be from people that didn't RTFA,
Particularly this part: "Officers discovered that he was wearing a bullet-resistant vest and booked him on suspicion of being a felon in possession of body armor. He was also booked on suspicion of possessing a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, resisting arrest and public urination."
The guy had a gun and a bulletproof vest on. This story is sensationalist. - Kerrigore, on 08/29/2008, -0/+5There once was a man from Nantucket
Who peed on the street in a bucket...
He was oh so chagrinned
When on him was pinned
3 more crimes for refusing to "tuck it" - dougmc, on 08/29/2008, -1/+6... especially the ones regarding resisting arrest, possessing firearms and wearing body armor.
- SillyRabbits, on 08/29/2008, -0/+5Did you even read the article Br3ach? When the officer approached he ran and threw a gun. When they caught him he was wearing body armor under his clothes.
- dougmc, on 08/29/2008, -0/+5Not to be confused with the US, where a drunken piss can lead to being placed on the sex offenders register (for public indecency or a similar charge.)

etc. - isiz, on 08/29/2008, -1/+5He probably would have been fine if he didn't try to run.
- regression, on 08/29/2008, -0/+4no. then i would be lying.
- EarlOfLade, on 08/29/2008, -0/+4So... It's a felony to wear a bullet proof vest?
- sexybobo, on 08/29/2008, -0/+4@warsongs7
He was on parol. If you commit a felony it is illegal to own ammunition or a gun or body armor or most other things you can hurt people with.
If he wasn't on parole he wouldn't have gotten charged with so much. - DangerCollie, on 08/29/2008, -0/+4It wasn't running or peeing that got him in trouble, it was the body armor and concealed weapon. I don't think people are getting felony convictions for urinating on buildings...yet.
Sounds like his lack of judgment went beyond his choice of location to relieve himself. - SillyRabbits, on 08/29/2008, -0/+4Don't forget that he also ran when they were first approaching him, and they watched him toss a gun while doing it.
- Kevin108, on 08/29/2008, -1/+5This guy is just a piece of *****. He needs to be locked up. Public urination is the least of his crimes. RTFA - "Officers discovered that he was wearing a bullet-resistant vest and booked him on suspicion of being a felon in possession of body armor. He was also booked on suspicion of possessing a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, resisting arrest and public urination."
- ApokalypseNow, on 08/29/2008, -0/+3If you are a convicted felon, yes. It is also illegal to wear body armor while committing a felony. However, for average, non-convicted felon citizens, the wearing of body armor is just fine.
- FiP0, on 08/29/2008, -3/+6Jeez.... It's not like he peed during "God Bless America"
- Kerrigore, on 08/29/2008, -0/+3So to clarify, you're supporting looking for a fascist under every rock, you just want us to read that article first?
- tomarocco, on 08/29/2008, -0/+3Yes, China has more executions, but not enough to be statistically significant when comparing the incarceration rates per capita.
- absurdist, on 08/29/2008, -0/+3Before looking for a fascist under every rock, try actually reading the article. There are plenty of real acts of fascism to complain about in the U.S., but this certainly isn't one of them.
- PopcornDave, on 08/29/2008, -0/+3"If you haven't ever been criminalized, just come to AMerika, we'll make sure you leave with a record and some prison time if possible."
Don't forget to stop by the gift shop on the way out either. - andrewwl, on 08/29/2008, -1/+4I find this hard to believe as I just visited San Francisco and it had homeless people urinating right on the road curb, standing in the busy sidewalk, penis held out, MANY people passing by, ignoring it.
- Etchii, on 08/29/2008, -2/+5Haha, this reminds me of my roommate.
We were all out drinking one night, and when we were stumbling out of the bar he decided he had to go.
He went to an alley and started to do his thing when a cop spotted him and arrested him. Turns out he was taking a piss on the back door of the f'n police station!! Guess the cop didn't like his building being pissed on and was being very rough with my roommate, so he started running his mouth off.
They made him sleep it off in jail and he had a ton of fines, he said it was worth it. I agree lol. - ayeroxor, on 08/29/2008, -2/+4exactly. Summary:
* Dumbass does dumb things
* Dumbass is told to behave or go to jail
* Dumbass doesn't behave.
And as for you "when you gotta go, you gotta go" people, I have never urinated in public in 30 years. Am I amazing or are those that do simply lazy and classless? - StuartGibson, on 06/14/2009, -0/+2Well, I suspect that would be the normal response. I'd love to know if the expectation is for you to piss yourself.
- cheechman85, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2"They need to legalize public urination."
You have to be out of your mind. - aladrin, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2Only if they didn't search him. And they would have, once they found out he was a parolee.
- Kerrigore, on 08/29/2008, -1/+3I think what you're saying is... give pees a chance?
- dougmc, on 08/29/2008, -1/+3To be fair, China executes a lot of prisoners that we'd just lock up for a while. If you were executed, you don't get counted as being in prison.
Not that I'm disagreeing with your point, just pointing that out. - EricAnderton, on 08/29/2008, -2/+4Is Ozzy at it again?
- Br3ach, on 08/29/2008, -4/+6Exactly, since when is whizzing on a building in the same arena as capital murder?
- tomarocco, on 08/29/2008, -1/+3Urinating is only a sexual act in Germany.
- EarlOfLade, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1What?
Let me get this straight, if you have served your sentence and is a free man, you are still being punished for life? That is not justice, that is insane.
But, leave it up to the Americans to invent creative ways of imprisoning your own population to the largest extent possible.
INSANE! - Trick07, on 08/29/2008, -1/+2So you support your local felon's right not only to pee on a wall, but to carry a firearm and body armor?
Is that the type of "AMerika" you want? - Trick07, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1What about the part where the ex-felon was packing a gun and body armor?
- catxors, on 08/29/2008, -2/+3The article doesn't mention the background that public toilets are in short supply in SF, so pissing on the street is pretty much mandatory. They really need to legalize public urination until they get that situation sorted out.
- cheechman85, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1Do people even read articles before digging them up???
- inactive, on 08/28/2008, -20/+21Felony charges for peeing on a building? Are you freaking kidding me?
- alapoet, on 08/28/2008, -6/+7That's what I was thinking!
- Kerrigore, on 08/29/2008, -1/+2Yes, but clearly you do not understand the US justice system. You see, in the US, whenever someone is arrested and charged, the lowest charge they get is elevated to the status of the highest charge they get. So if someone is arrested for murder and also charged for j-walking, then j-walking becomes a felony. It's really quite simple once you get used to it.
- PopcornDave, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1There's got to be more to the story than is being reported. You can see the homeless pissing on buildings, cars, trees, or even just in to the air on any given day in San Francisco and the police never bother them. I've even had the homeless sleeping in the driveway of my building in the middle of the day and the cops just tell them to move to someplace where they won't bother anybody.
So to report that the police are actively investigating building pissers makes me think that there's more to the story that didn't make it in to the article. - absurdist, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1Pretty much. The article is about the cops arresting an idiot convicted felon for weapons and body armor violations, After witnessing him doing the relatively minor but still illegal act of pissing in public. While we can debate whether pissing in public should be illegal, it still remains that his act of stupidity was what led to his felony arrest. Not saying these cops aren't fascists, just that you can't draw that conclusion from this article.
