- FuriousGopher, on 10/12/2007, -8/+435The whole time I was watching the video, I was just expecting the blonde to break the window with the tennis ball
- drewhenson, on 10/12/2007, -7/+397In other news, tennis ball sales and car theft have gone through the roof.
- vypergts, on 10/12/2007, -17/+176This goes against the very principle of how a lock works. If the door unlocked just by exerting pressure in the keyhole by anything (air, paperclip, etc.) it would be a very poor lock. Remember, you have to TURN the key to unlock the door. There is no way this works, but I'm sure a lot of people will try anyway. Somebody call mythbusters....
- bclark303, on 10/12/2007, -1/+147How is a tennis ball supposed to open a brick??? That's just stupid.
- strikerK, on 10/12/2007, -2/+140that seems almost too easy...

Oh wait. Wrong video. - jdc760, on 10/12/2007, -1/+106Try the mute button.
- Nitro187, on 10/12/2007, -9/+95It says "Keep the tennis ball in your purse for future use"
Uhh, why not keep an extra set in your "purse"? A lot smaller, and hey, you don't look like an idiot... unless you're going to break into someone elses car. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+84If youre going through all that trouble to keep a dirty ***** tennis ball in your purse, wouldnt it be easier just to keep a spare key in it?
- keathmilligan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+76@pcgeek101
It doesn't create vacuum, it creates pressure - which in the case of this particular car, apparently forces the lock open.
I seriously doubt this will work on most other types of cars. - thebaron2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+57Worked on my car, 2000 Toyota Corolla (yeah I know, I'm a badass).
Also worked on someone's car that posted a comment at the site. Anyone else try it yet? - oOLiquidNightOo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+58other videos on the site include: how to generate electricity with candles.

- jdc760, on 10/12/2007, -0/+48Here, let me fix that for you: "How is this supposed to work? It's not like the locks are in an airtight enclosure."

Don't forget they have an electronic door lock. The camera man just press the button at the same time.

Comic Book Guy would be: Longest, video, EVER.
"Could X BE anymore Y" = Chandler Bing - Krumm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+35It works, and is surprisingly common here in the UK.
It also works by cutting the tennis ball in half and placing it over the lock, drain plunger style.
Cars unlocked by this tactic often have slightly indented locks from the pressure applied, as the one in the video, but no other visible marks of entry - which is great for insurance companies to screw you over, as no visible sign of entry to them = you left the keys in it, or it was unlocked. - pcgeek101, on 10/12/2007, -6/+39Blogspam at its best
"Work is blocking me. Do we have a youtube link?"
Your administrators block metacafe but not Youtube? LOL .. interesting ... and no, I couldn't find it on Youtube - Kahnza, on 10/12/2007, -4/+36She looks nothing like Elliot. Elliot is actually attractive.
- GoaGloba, on 10/12/2007, -2/+33Has anyone tested and verified this?
I don't buy the story.. - mikesly, on 10/12/2007, -3/+33What about a brick? Would that work?
- Homerr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29Damn! I just locked my tennis ball in the car!
- xNaquada, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29No, you have to worry about getting wet when it rains.

- khyberkitsune, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27Works on my 2006 Scion xA.
- knomevol, on 10/12/2007, -3/+28@pcgeek101: time to recall, at least for the reason given.
it didn't say it was performing the feat using vacuum, it said it was the result of the air pressure forcing movement of the locking mechanism caused by pushing the air that was in the ball out of the ball through the little hole they made in the ball.
you probably just need another cup of coffee. but, still, could be *****. someone could be standing there pushing the button of the key she had in her hand while the vid's on her playing with balls. they always focus on the girl when she does that. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Hang on a second. If you are inside the car and it is locked then you can open it, presumably, by pulling up the lever (a manual manipulation). What you are doing is applying upward force to the lever to unlock it. Now, in theory, if you COULD apply enough upward force on the lever (using air pressure) then yes, you could open the lock. The question here is not about tumblers or locks or keys...the question is whether there is enough air being forced into the keyhole to cause enough pressure under [the thing that you pull up] to unlock the door.
- Wonderkind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17If you put the tennis ball against her forehead and push hard, her blouse will open up.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18save the trouble. The video takes 2 hours to show a goofy girl burn a small hole in a tennis ball and place the hole over the lock and squeeze the ball hard to blow lock lever up with a puff of air.
- VermiciousKnid, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19@vypergts:
the air pressure is lifting the lock button from the inside.
it has nothing to do with the actual locking mechanism itself. - JesseJericho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16http://community.discovery.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/9701967776/m/5411928128
- revansii, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16What is your address?
- nicepants, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Press on the ball as hard as you can....while the person off camera presses the unlock button.
- Sommerlost, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16She kept making a bukake face.
- gfixler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14@Nougat: consider that you can unlock the car from inside by pulling up on the lock, which doesn't turn the cylinder. The tennis ball doesn't need to turn the cylinder, or move the rod. It simply needs to create air pressure inside the door cavity in such a way that the plastic lock that you would normally pull up with your hand is forced up. It's unlikely to work in all cases, but if in a particular car that area of the door is closed up well enough to air leakage, it's conceivable that the sharp push of air from the tennis ball could push the lock up in its effort to escape.
That said, I have an '00 Ford Focus. The lock is a triangle near the front of the door that actuates more like a rocker switch, and isn't anywhere near the key hole. I think I'm safe, unless you replace tennis ball with crowbar, or wire hanger. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+20For innocent girls only.
- OriginalLucid1, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19redirection humor is hilarious!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Read a few comments before you let us all know its fake. 2 commenters tried it and it worked. Also FORGET THE LOCKING MECHANISM!! Do you need a key to lift the button? No. And that's what the air pressure does. It doesn't un-lock the locking mechanism IT LIFTS THE DAMN BUTTON!!! think before you armchair debunk. geeze that annoys me.
We used to do it with the air hose at my garage. with the blowing attachment. fools. - raid517, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18This looks like a ***** trick to play on girls.
Meanwhile off camera, someone stands with the real key and unlocks the car while the silly (and pretty) girl squeezes the air from a tennis ball.
The moral of the story (not one I necessarily agree with myself) is boy, aren't girls dumb! - liltbrockie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16I think the likelyhood of this working decreases as the value of the car increases
- al28p, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18does anyone else think this 90 second video could have easially been compressed to 20s had they cut out all the shots of that ugly broad.
- Worktruck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Okay, let me explain how this could work. Most of you are assuming that the interior of the car door is wide open space that isn't sealed off, but you are wrong. If you remove the trim off the door panel most cars have a clear plastic moisture/dust shield that encases the entire door panel it's sealed on there with a thick dark goop that does not come off very easily. I believe that they suck out the air making the plastic fit as tight as possible. Now on most of those cars they cut holes in this plastic to allow things like wires that control your power windows and power locks through. Still on others they don't cut holes in this seal so it doesn't have a lot of places for air to escape so it would be pretty airtight.
Now you may thing the air would go out between the space between the glass and the door, but unless the window seal has started to crack or has been removed I doubt that would happen.
Why do I know this? I use to work as a locksmith and sometimes I would have to remove the door trim to work on things in the door panel, and I would often have to cut this plastic cover away. I never tried this method so I can't be 100% certain my explanation is correct. - csimpkins, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Would it not be just as easy (and perhaps, more effective) to rig up a portable CO2 bicycle tire inflater to do this?
