- blitzer, on 10/10/2007, -3/+82I ungoogle myself every morning.. in the shower.. before work.
- cello, on 10/10/2007, -3/+51There is nothing in the article about "ungoogling" yourself.
It's a bunch of obvious crap like "don't use your name" and "use an alias" and "trying changing your last name"
Buried for being lame. - richminx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+20"Stop using your full name." Genius.
- juicebag, on 10/10/2007, -11/+28I bet all those people who get humiliated by /b/ wish they had this earlier.
- dvsbastard, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10This article has very little useful information on actually removing existing indexed pages, which for the most part would be what people want to do - It is more of a guide on how to prevent being "googled" and thus avoiding eHumilation.
- Bricks, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Duly noted.
Your shoes are on. How many ***** did they draw on your face? - Agent_M, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I wish I could delete my dorky guestbook entries (on GuestWorld and such) on other people's personal sites, from almost 10 years ago. I doubt emailing the owner of the sites would do much good.
- theradical, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5This does not tell you how to ungoogle yourself, it just gives a few tips for avoiding it in future.
- yahoofrom, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Don't try to ungoogle it. Instead, let good information about you spread over the internet because bad information about you out there cannot be deleted.
- fkr3, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5All good advice except the meta tag to block spiders. There's massive volumes of sites out there that exist by scraping other websites, your name will get out if it's publicly accessible, and it will get on Google and the other search engines through them.

- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6The best way is realize that no one wants to read your diary and therefore to stop posting stupid ***** on the internet in the first place.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4***** carrots.
- Niten, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3How about you RTFA before digging it to begin with?
- kurttrail, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3So what does the "BJ" stand for Mr./Ms. Weeks?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6www.4chan.on.nimp.org/rules_1_and_2.html
- mishaco, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2does all this " advice " come from the department of no duh ?
- skulljar, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Other than the Google Information Removal Tool which I just used to get a serach result off.
- jordanhass, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2dear god, I USE MY FULL NAME... sad part that i use my name for "smart sites" (digg) and "bad" (see: decade old message board comments, back when LOL was only used on AIM)
If I get fired, it was for the sake of "THE INTERNET" - CaseyThr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Why do all the featured articles in the WikiHow RSS feed get posted on Digg?
- diggomaniac, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Google me and you'll find over 234,000 hits, beat that!
- rarson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1My name is already all over the place, because it happens to be shared with a movie star.
Which is nice, because it means no one will ever be able to find me in all that crap that shows up when you search for his name. - kurttrail, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I cyber-squatted my identity on MySpace, but never used it. I let my niece play with it and she calls me a loser. It's no big deal.
- in2thel2ain, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1What link is that? to remove google thingies...
- GangsterCompute, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1About step 5,
I've tried numerous times to get amazon.com to remove the lists I wrote on their webpage way back in the 6th grade, but besides emails saying vaguely that they'll look into it....well, they're still there. Ten years on.... - LordSkywalker, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2How about using different account names so CoolDude1337 doesn't bring up every site you've ever signed up for.
- MrSunshine, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1"Politely explain your situation, and don't make empty threats about legal action. Just be nice and it shouldn't be a problem."
Sure... try being nice to Something Awful, 4chan, Encyclopedia Dramatica, eBaumsworld and B3ta... they'll just laugh you off and come up with the lame excuse of free speech and parody law, even if what they did is defamation or slandering and you are being stalked and humiliated in real life.
Thanks to the person publishing the link to the helpful Google removal thingy above. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That is the ***** advice ive ever heard.
Can be summed up in "use a fake name so your future employer/partner doesnt know youre a racist ***** who kills kittens." - tucktan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I actually write all my blogs under my full name, followed by my social security number and date of birth. The first post i write always has my address and a few other identifying information. I had no idea it would hurt me.
- laurarena, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1good time to show this as now facebook will allow some accounts to show up on google searches.
- obxjdt, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3No Sh!t?!?!?!? Who uses their real name other than people that use the net to make a living???
- Monstarr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Why did Kevin Rose digg this? I put his as my friend to see what cool things he'd digg, and all he diggs is random crap.... mind you, so do I.
- shack, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1http://xkcd.com/137/
I can appreciate that. - meatmcguffin, on 10/10/2007, -5/+54 guests, 16 members, 3 anonymous members > epic fail
- Gabberwok, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Is there any name you can search for that won't result in naked pictures of women (/animals/men/any possible combination)?
- ezkiel, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Probably because they are featured. Noteworthy. Interest. You know something worthwhile on digg.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -15/+15www.4chan.org
- ecidnac, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1So do I... My name is also the name of a character in a popular porn film. I wonder if this has anything to do with my inability to get hired...
- skulljar, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I'm not funny
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0well if you have a common name you can just say that its not you.
http://www.astawerks.net - iole777, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Anyone use Facebook with nicknames or middle names or anything else besides full names? If people really want to find you and really know you, no matter what they can find you in Facebook or MySpace with full name or any names. What do all think of that?
- lita16, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0If i search for my name I don't even get me and if I search for my nickname I get digg so google obviously doesn't find me very interesting lol.
- kmlixey87, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0has anybody seen a new public service announcement on cable warning people about this. theres this wierd lookin kid telling all these other little bastards all about his dad, mom, sister, random personal crap. if you dont want people to know you have the herp, or have your boss find out his brother is your sugar daddy, i probably wouldnt put it on myspace.... i thought this crap was obvious, anyone else?
- drakethegreat, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1This is when its convenient to have one of the whitest names on the planet. I google my name and nothing comes up that is even about me. Then I google my nickname (the one you see here) and its this site plus mostly linux things. I guess the only bad thing I see is XBMC but thats questionable on whether businesses care.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Who the ***** dugg this *****.
- Kwasny, on 10/10/2007, -6/+5I agree
- tjdoom, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2I get noodz of a hot female stripper when I Google my name.
- mrwester, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0Probably because wikiHow rocks!
