- ryodoan, on 03/21/2008, -2/+63This is stupid, the cops are the people running after the semi to stop it, could we get a more biased headline please?
- pianomahnn, on 03/21/2008, -3/+32Well, talk about a letdown. Plows into the car?
- ninjasaurus, on 03/21/2008, -4/+29Title should read: "Semi gently pushes car 100m"
Talk about misleading! Even better would have been "Semi slams into car, causing it to ASPLODE killing several onlookers!" - DWNamu, on 03/21/2008, -7/+28This is a misleading title.
- schizogony, on 03/21/2008, -5/+23That video was confusing.
- doctorfungi, on 03/21/2008, -3/+21You know, I was expecting to see police, quote, "watch on", but they actually appeared to be running and attempting to resolve the situation.
Inaccuracy on Digg... say it aint' so?! - drlha, on 03/21/2008, -2/+19How does every story on the front page of Digg have a comment like this?
- sexybobo, on 03/21/2008, -0/+12That was what i was thinking they didn't just stand back and watch they all ran after the semi as soon as they saw what was happening.
- DWNamu, on 03/21/2008, -2/+14I took it as the police watched and did nothing.
- orlyfactor, on 03/21/2008, -2/+13Superdelediggers wield more power here than your normal digger.
- domokunt, on 03/21/2008, -2/+13I've got to question the sanity of someone who changes a tire in the center lane.
- loudmouth11, on 03/21/2008, -1/+8thats the way i took it, it sounds like the police just watched it happen. They ran after the truck trying to get it to stop. this is just bias crap.
- inactive, on 03/21/2008, -2/+8Are you really that dimwitted?
- exomni, on 03/21/2008, -0/+6I was expecting to see "incredible footage" of a truck "plowing into" a car... instead I saw footage of the back of a truck, which apparently had already plowed into a car, and was now pushing said car down the road at a low speed.
- ivorylion, on 03/21/2008, -1/+6Buried because your title is misleading. The Police aren't just standing around watching... they were at the scene and the event occurred in spite of the fact that they were there. This has nothing to do with the Police being there.
- Achilles2, on 03/21/2008, -0/+5You can park a lot in front of those trucks and not see it.
- pianomahnn, on 03/21/2008, -0/+4It's not worth watching.
- gernblansted, on 03/21/2008, -1/+5Damn Americans, absolutely no concept of the larger world outside the states :-)
Seriously, although a majority of Americans are somewhat to very culturally and geographically ignorant, some of us do know what's going on. Generally, those would be the ones who did NOT vote for Bush. - inactive, on 03/21/2008, -1/+5What the ***** are you talking about? He never mentioned the police, or said anything with bias . . . where do you buy your drugs?
- schroeder, on 03/21/2008, -0/+4I think it also gets pushed by the number of views, whether dugg or not. There are no superdiggers or mods. There is just one or two people who watch for ToS violations (according to the town meeting posted on the digg blog). Just because people don't understand the algorithm doesn't mean there is a conspiracy.
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -1/+4WTF is up with the cow/dalmatian seats?
- ninjasaurus, on 03/21/2008, -3/+6Well then I would have to say:
plow into = slam into (60 mph for example)
plowed = pushed (as in snow)
Therefore, by viewing the video, the semi "plowed" the car, and did not "plow into". - exomni, on 03/21/2008, -1/+4*rolls eyes*
If the Sydney Opera House logo and the ".au" address and the thick Australian accents didn't give you a hint, you'd hope the multiple statements that this occurred in SYDNEY would. - Charun, on 03/21/2008, -0/+3Where can I get those cow seat covers?
- DephexTwin, on 03/21/2008, -0/+3Seriously... I still can't figure out where everything was in relation to everything else.
- thesonofdarwin, on 03/21/2008, -0/+3Step 1: Firefox. Step 2: Tell your script blocker to allow publish.vx.roo.com
- supermanred, on 03/22/2008, -0/+2Dtele is also the story submitter. He isnt referring to his comment, he is referring to the actual story description.
Yes, the Police did NOT "watch on"
Loudmouth11, next time post as a new comment not a nonsensical response to a comment unrelated to the description.
*****, now everyone is confused. - supermanred, on 03/22/2008, -0/+2Yeah, far from "incredible" footage. You dont actually see the guy dragging the car, just the aftermath.
- themastersb, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2That guy in the truck just had this big "Oops" look on his face.
- sexybobo, on 03/21/2008, -0/+234 diggs is about average. they just shoot up really quick after they hit the front page. it has been 8 minutes and it is now at 55.
The algorithm that advances stories to the front page is complex and is based of a lot of information not just the number of digs
like who dugg the story how quickly it was dugg # or comments and so on - EvilFerret, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2Did you read the topic or description at all?
- gernblansted, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2Once the truck driver realized what was happening and saw the guy climb out of the car, you could just see the truck driver thinking "I'm fired. I'm fired. I'm fired."
This reminds me of the WWII airplane taxing right into a parked car which was in it's blind spot:
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=d5c_1183747211 - inactive, on 03/21/2008, -2/+4At least the cops acted decently. Heii...if this was the US, the driver would have been dragged bodily out of the truck, tasered, handcuffed and tasered again.
- gernblansted, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2I had trouble with it too. I use firefox (as always) and my script blocker was temporarily disabled. I had to 'jiggle' it - press pause and play a few times before it 'woke up'.
Anyway, I could see how this would happen, especially if the scene were well lit, it would make the midnight black vehicle vanish into the lights/darkness. And from experience, driving a high torque diesel you'd never know you were pushing anything. - WhoDoneIt, on 03/21/2008, -1/+3I'm sure the driver of this rig made them himself, after he finished plowing into a herd of cattle last week.
- willsani, on 03/21/2008, -0/+1The victim is lucky to have walked away from that!
- lpmiller, on 03/21/2008, -1/+2What bias? I took it as police see truck hitting car, not police stand around with thumb up their ass. Seems to me it's the reader that has the bias, not the headline.
- exomni, on 03/21/2008, -1/+2Buried as inaccurate. The police didn't just "watch", they ran after the truck and tried to get the situation under control.
- JK1150, on 03/21/2008, -0/+1the description makes it sound like the police just stood there and let is happen. they went running after the truck yelling at him to stop...
- prattstick, on 03/22/2008, -1/+2No. Please explain where I erred.
- edwartica, on 03/21/2008, -0/+1because you touch yourself at night.
- VinnieDaMac, on 03/21/2008, -0/+1That footage was hardly "INCREDIBLE."
- cloudcity, on 03/21/2008, -0/+1Oh, they call them truckies. That's cute.
- CBTF, on 03/21/2008, -0/+1DID NOT GET MY ITEM ON TIME. SELLER DID NOT REPLY TO EMAILS. WOULD NOT BUY AGAIN !!!!!!
D- - supermanred, on 03/22/2008, -0/+1Tyre is sometimes used in UK as the correct spelling of the North American equivalent, tire.
Centre is the UK spelling of Center.
There are no typos in the line you posted. However, in the sentence you follow the quote with, you capitalize quite, you use the word "on" instead of "in" a national newspaper article and you fail to end your sentence with a period.
:) - supermanred, on 03/22/2008, -0/+1No, it's an algorythm and 34 diggs prbably came very quickly (within a few minutes sending it to front page)
- britblogger, on 03/21/2008, -0/+1THERE WAS A WOMAN IN THE CAR!!!!
- trghpy, on 03/21/2008, -1/+2As requested (the more biased headline):
Police pull driver over to see how far a speeding truck can plow a vehicle.
Title should be...
Parked car plowed by speeding truck caught on Police camera. - prattstick, on 03/22/2008, -0/+1Oh. I accept the subsequent grammatical errors I made. Well no, I didn't have a problem with the use of 'tyre', I spell it that way sometimes too, but rather 'quiet', which should be 'quite'.
- rockrodger, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1It's funnier to comment back rather than digg down
