- blindhammer, on 01/03/2008, -2/+3617 is an odd number to end a list at.
- drmangrum, on 01/03/2008, -3/+25The swastika is just a coincidence. There are many military buildings ( especially barracks ) that are build in the L-shape. It allows for efficient use of space while at the same time not being an eye sore. It also gives the people who have to leave there a decent view from their window and a small court yard for cookouts and such.
People should also look up history. The swastika-style cross existed long before the Nazi's. - rnawky, on 01/03/2008, -2/+23Mirror:

- BagginsBoy, on 01/03/2008, -0/+15It's better than them coming up with three boring ones to come up with an even 20.
- MikeonTV, on 01/03/2008, -2/+17I haven't seen most of these. But the Bomber is basically a meme these days!

- tgormtx, on 01/03/2008, -1/+8He ended on a St. Patrick's Day image... and St. Patty's is March 17. Think about it.

- blindhammer, on 01/03/2008, -0/+6There are a whole host of literary reasons why you might end a sentence with a preposition:
We went in.
He looked inside.
They went up.
We went along.
They came from behind. - houndeyex, on 01/03/2008, -1/+7Yeah... or not.
- CraigJ, on 01/03/2008, -0/+617 is an odd number to end a list at, grammer nazi. Better?
- gak001, on 01/03/2008, -2/+7Are you 5?
- TheKricket, on 01/03/2008, -0/+5theres a video on youtube that shows the making of the firefox crop circle
done up by students at oregon state (and maps, and crop stompers, and helicopters, and gps units...) - gak001, on 01/03/2008, -0/+5Actually, that rule comes from the various groups trying to standardize English grammar and using Latin rules. The rule is pretty arbitrary and often serves only to make writing awkward.
- CraigJ, on 01/03/2008, -0/+5Prime numbers are cool.
- FieldAnonymouse, on 01/03/2008, -4/+9FTA: 2. Aircraft Traffic Jam: What would you expect from one of the busiest airports in Europe? Looks like a freak of fortune to catch 3 aircraft on takeoff from Frankfurt International Airport, but it’s actually just overlay issues. Note that there is only a shadow for the middle aircraft.
Wrong wrong wrong. There are in fact three shadows. First is on the north-south section of highway, second is on the east-west section of highway, third is hidden in the trees and can be found without much effort.
Still, mostly amusing - JlmAWP, on 01/03/2008, -1/+6Washington Monument. Go there.
- rnwen2750, on 01/03/2008, -0/+5Also, the inverse of the swatstika is used in a lot of sound-proofing designs. It is relatively sound-proof.
- moneyboy1, on 01/04/2008, -0/+4What about the high school football prank?
- piesforyou, on 01/03/2008, -0/+4If you bomb a building with a bend in it, you only lose one wing. In theory.

- staffa, on 01/03/2008, -1/+4Why limit yourself to real-time data, why not just go for the gusto of scary awesome-scary bad and record all the real time data across the entire globe and let people view anywhere/anytime and create a UI to make it easy to follow events in both time and space.
- blindhammer, on 01/03/2008, -0/+3Deep. Very deep :)

- johnn11238, on 01/03/2008, -2/+5Ok, I can't seem to get anything from the front page anymore. Has Digg finally reached the critical mass necessary to swamp any server whenever something makes the front page???
- kiiwii, on 01/03/2008, -0/+3Whether there's any real meaning behind it (which I doubt), he's right, it does kinda look like two planes.
- sparr, on 01/03/2008, -6/+9Prepositions are not good words to end sentences with.
- justinlarsen, on 01/03/2008, -0/+2Maybe he was out of *****.
- Zippo, on 01/03/2008, -1/+3Oh god, that would be both amazing and amazingly terrible, all at the same time.
- marx2k, on 01/03/2008, -3/+5So then doesn't that mean Google did, in fact, have something to do with obtaining GE images?

- LoveWidescreen, on 01/04/2008, -1/+3Oh, for crying out loud. Will people please get the hell over the freaking swastika? (Example #1 on the web site.) It's a basic shape that is thousands of years old. It's been used by various cultures and religions all over the world from the early Christians to the American Indians *long before* Hitler was even an itch in his daddy pants.
From Wikipedia:
"Archaeological evidence of swastika-shaped ornaments dates from the Neolithic period. An ancient symbol, it occurs in numerous indigenous Asian, European, African and Native American cultures; sometimes as a geometrical motif and sometimes as a religious symbol. It has long been widely used in major world religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism."
"The swastika has an extensive history. The motif seems to have first been used in Neolithic India. The symbol has an ancient history in Europe, appearing on artifacts from pre-Christian European cultures. In antiquity, the swastika was used extensively by the Indo-Aryans, Hittites, Celts and Greeks, among others. In particular, the swastika is a sacred symbol in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism — religions with over a billion adherents worldwide, making the swastika ubiquitous in both historical and contemporary society. The symbol was introduced to Southeast Asia by Hindu kings and remains an integral part of Balinese Hinduism to this day, and it is a common sight in Indonesia. It also was adopted independently by several Native American cultures.
"By the early 20th century, it was widely used worldwide and was regarded as a symbol of good luck and success." .... which is why Hitler used it. The design itself is meaningless. Sheesh. George Carlin could have a field day with how this guy is reacting to it. - thetanman, on 01/03/2008, -0/+2Badass. Letters appear to be about a kilometer in HEIGHT.
http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=30.082541,-97.14119 ... - lhbaker, on 01/04/2008, -0/+1I can't find the news source any more. I'm pretty sure Jeffco has it as an unsolved, but it's been a few years. The picture is taken in February, 2002 at about 10:00 AM. The fire was reported early in the morning as a Dumpster fire, but turned out to be a car with a body inside. I can also tell when the picture was taken by what's in my yard.
- LightPhoenix, on 01/03/2008, -2/+3Also wrong, wrong, wrong.
Starting from left to right, the shadows for the planes are in the SW quadrant formed by the highways (5 and 3), on Highway 5 and on Highway 3. All are very clear. - Konrad9, on 01/03/2008, -0/+1...width? Length?
I don't see a side-view for height. - danger127, on 01/04/2008, -0/+1It's probobly the same plane. Like that sat. took a series of pictures and that's how google put them together. I don't think air traffic control lets 3 jumbo jets flying hundreds of miles an hour cruise that close to each other over an airport full of people.
- inactive, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1You fail at it.
